Back from Vacation!!

These pics are Chris in Vegas at the Venetian Hotel Resort!!

Yeah, we're back.... we got back Thursday night about midnight.... a little earlier than expected, nothing on our vacation went as planned, but we did the best we could to have a good time, and it ended well.

On our way up to Bryce Canyon, there was snow on the ground and it kept getting colder and colder (which we both LOVED), and we got to experience the snow flakes actually falling down, I know it sounds kinda silly, but that's only the 2nd time I've experienced it actually falling, and a first for Chris.  Anyway, when we hit 34 degrees, there was a sign that said the road ahead would be closed.  So we stopped and played in the snow a little, and turned around and went down the hill for lunch.

We also decided not to drive through Utah to Colorado, because from where we were staying, that drive was going to take us about 9 hours one way through DESERT.... (I had planned for about 7 hours, and that was even too much for us) so we decided not to make that drive since we had only planned to stay one night there, anyway, it just didn't seem worth it.

So we just stayed in Mesquite, NV a couple of nights, and visited Zion National Park, which was nice, but we really were looking forward to Bryce... then came back to Vegas and stayed there a night, and that's where we had a blast.... I really hate Vegas, it's just too expensive for me, but we hadn't had a good vacation up until then, so I decided to splurge just a bit.  We went to have a very nice lobster dinner at the Venetian, and we stayed at Treasure Island which was pretty nice.  The show outside the Hotel (The Sirens of Treasure Island ~ it's a pirate show with a mostly female cast, featuring fire and dancing high up on a ship) was cancelled because of the wind.... so we just kind of struck out all over the place, but still, it was the best part of our vacation.

However, we learned that we just aren't 'desert' people, we can drive for hours as long as the view is GREEN!!  LOL!!!

I felt bad for Chris, and he felt bad for me, thinking that I wasn't having a good time because HE wasn't, but actually, I just didn't plan well.... we were both pretty bored.  We found a place in Mesquite where Chris got to go go-carting and we played a couple games of miniature golf, and we did meet a few really nice people on our trip, in fact we had dinner with some people one night and exchanged e-mails to stay in touch.

Anyway, I still want to see Bryce Canyon one day, but I'll plan to STAY much closer to Bryce Canyon, so the drive isn't so long.... it was about 3 hours from where we were staying and to me, it was just wasted time.

So I'm back, and will catch up on journals as much as possible today and tomorrow.

Joann

Thanks for your comment in my journal and your encouragement toward my successful recovery from back surgery.    This morning marked 10 days since surgery and was a little rough getting going, so I stayed in bed a while longer.    I believe the reason was the change in weather (it affects my arthritis) to cold and rainey/snow(predicted).  I am feeling more strenght in my legs, since the nerve is not being pinched like it was before surgery.    I can sit at the stool in front of my computer better today.    Your trip to Zion National Park must have been interesting.    Like you wrote, L.V. is expensive, but I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the photo's are great.   Bryce Canyon must be wonderful as you are thinking about your next trip there.    mark
