Feeling Quiet
Hearing the boys playing Battlefront...the dog barking at an imaginary foe, hubby laughing to himself

" 'Til Death"  Can seem really long sometimes...

Picture from Hometown

Do any of you watch the sitcom 'Til Death with Brad Garret and Joely Fisher as the long married couple?  I do... and it really cracks me up.  Sometimes a silly sitcom that makes you laugh at exaggerated example of your marriage is just what you need!

Last night the show revolved around a neighbor couple who had a 25th Anniversary party and everyone kept commenting on how the hubby 'took care' of his wife.

Finally, Eddie, Brad Garrett's character asked him to explain, and he said something about how he nourished and cared for his wife as if he was the gardener and she were the flower.  She bloomed under his loving care.  In the show, Eddie realizes that he is the 'flower' in his marriage and his wife is the 'gardener'.  He then vows to get better at trying to 'garden' for her.

My hubby and I laughed at it and we both agreed that usually it is about 50/50, we both are the 'gardener' and the 'flower' which seems ideal to me.

However, there are times like now, when I am flaring (rheumatoid arthritis) and I need a lot more gardening effort without giving back much in return.

I would like to take the time to thank my hubby for that.

Like tonight, he went out specifically to pick up a bag of my favorite kettle cooked potato chips.  :-D

Thanks honey, I am in the best hands ever.

be well,
Dawn

ps... Hubby punted on the Fuddrucker's idea and we went to On the Border for mexican and waitress service instead!  Yummy!

I think the two weed and grass eaters I met in my life that falsely portrayed themselves as gardeners have ruined the grass is greener for me.lol..I am convinced the flower that I am is now too picky...lol...

I do agree, it takes 50/50 from two honest folks...~Raven

I do watch that show and love it.  I really prefer to watch light comedies and sometimes just goofy comedies plus some silly reality shows.  There is enough drama in real life.  And as you can see, from the above, there are lessons to be learned.  Bless you and your hubby for finding the secrets to keep a marriage alive.  HUGS  Chris

In our family I know that Libby does most of the work. I would say that she is 75% of our marriage. I know this and I acknowledge it. I'm lazy she is the one who goes out of her way to make everything work. As far as Til Death is concerned, we sure see a lot of us in them. Regards, Bill.

Thanks for visiting my tag journal.  Love your journal.  I homeschool my kids as well and that started because of my son's medical condition.  Sounds like we may have some things in common.  Check out my personal journal if you haven't already.  I'm adding this to my long, long list of alerts!
