4rd Artifact Image

Subject: 4rd Artifact Image
Author: prjctmrc2sa (mission archeologist)

Lex, you never cease to amaze.  First you're a hands-on mega-micromanager.  Then, when I inform you of perhaps the most important archaeological discovery in recent memory -- and it's within a short Porsche ride of your mansion, no less -- I am met with you telling me you are "unable to make it down here today"!

Here, save yourself the trouble and have a look at this.  Obtaining this image was no mean feat.

I know you've probably been wondering why we're having so much trouble with this damn code business.  There've been tantalizing breakthroughs here and there, but for some reason the ultimate decryption key kept slipping through our fingers--until this morning.

Ezra Small may not have fully comprehended what he was part of, but clearly the ones who meant us to receive this four-part message in its entirety knew the truth:  Mathematics is what binds us, Lex.  It is perhaps the only true language that can connect Mayans, Cambodians, Chinese and--well, perhaps someone or something that is not even of this world.

Euclid knew it.  Aryabhata knew it.  Fibonacci knew it.  And a perhaps less well-known figure from your country, Joseph Mauborgne, certainly knew it.  He borrowed ideas from all of those people, or should I say he nonborrowed them.  I pray this is not too subtle for you.  Just do the math, but take it away one step at a time, and don't be negative.  It works.  Lord, I'm starting to sound like Beppo.  Now I know why he won't come out of that basement.

Until next time.  Hopefully there will be one.

p.s. We found this image again in a separate section of the caves.  Who/what do you suppose it stands for?
