I stayed along the Western edges of the Park today, mainly looking for Sparrows, which were in abundance in the Sparrow Bowl. I had little time, and was not able to id one or two interesting birds that droped into the tall grass at the edges of the bowl. There was a Lincoln's that popped up, and several Swamp. One that was intriguing was most likely a first year Chipping, but for a moment I thought it was Clay-colored. However, the eye line did continue to the bill.

 Also, this morning at the rink, along the shore ,

a porcelain berry vine laden cherry tree

 had a Orchard like female Oriole that would be way past

late for this species.With bold white wing bars, streaked

back and darkish gray green head on an all yellow bird,

I assumed a stray species. But the bird didnt give me enough

time ( fleeting glimpses)to study as it moved atop the tree canopy.

It thereby flew across to the peninsula east shore.

Just at heads up if you go birding there . Its prime time for vagant species

Peter's Note: Today was excellent activity all around. Sparrows are beginning to dominate the park. 17 species warblers today, a good show for this late date.

Hey Peter-

Lots of birds! I made a short trip this morning to the Vale. From 10:15 to about 10:50- birds liked the underside of the sunny reeds on path (leading to Rose Garden?) on NE side- area was active almost the entire time I was there with;

1 definite Pine Warbler & some drabber individuals that may have been Blackpolls

Northern Parula warbler (2) - in trees opposite reeds

House Wren

Winter Wren, scolding a black stray that came in for the show
