Eggnog & Christmas Wassail

Baby its cold outside! BRRR! 8 degrees! This is when I do wish there was someone to snuggle with! Nope the cats just don't do it.

My dad sent me an email with a whole bunch of Christmas funnies, so I'll try to post one each day until I run out! :-) Hope they give you a laugh!

I'm not big on EggNog. How about you, do you like it? I do like this Christmas Wassail recipe from a store in Geneva called Persimmon Tree. They serve it during the Christmas walk & evening special events. The recipe is below & you can change it to your liking. Just remember no drinking & driving!!!!

Persimmon Tree's Christmas Wassail

6 cups Apple Cider              3-6" sticks Cinnamon
2 cups Cranberry Juice      16 Whole Cloves
1/2 cup Sugar                      1 tsp Whole Allspice
1 tsp. Aromatic Bitters      3 Oranges, studded with Cloves
1 cup Rum

Combine First 4 ingredients in saucepan. Break cinnamon sticks into pieces, add the cloves & allspice & put into cheesecloth bag (or use "Good Time Mulling Spice"). Add spices & oranges to saucepan. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Remove spices, stir in rum. DO NOT BOIL!! Pour into warm serving bowl & garnish with the clove studded orange. Add red food coloring, if desired. Makes 9-8 oz. servings. To tripe the recipe, use 1 1/2 times the spices.

ENJOY! Let me know if you try it & how you like it!

Might have to try that out.
ps. Am I the only one that has to squint to read your journal? Font size "8" is just a little too small. Your journal though, just thought I'd make a suggestion, size 10 would be a little better : )
