A great podcast I've listened to for a few times is called Pro Football Talk Radio. Here's what one of the great podcasters has to say as I ask a few questions about what he does on the show.
Powergoalie14 (8:09:50 PM): why did you start a podcast? any special reason?
LEFTY120491 (8:12:09 PM): well i was very interested in becoming a sports broadcaster when i grow up and i thought this would be a great head start in that direction. I also love to get my opinion out to people about sports and sound off on issues. I wanted Jimmy to sign on with me because we are best friends and he is such a football fanatic and I thought it would be a great thing if he could use his knowledge somewhere other then when we play stump the schwab's leading off game within our group of friends all the time. He's got alot of talent for breaking down football.
Powergoalie14 (8:15:04 PM): Are you thinking of getting a few sports players on the show some day?
LEFTY120491 (8:16:02 PM): Well that definitely would be a hard thing to do considering all of the media hype and contracts surrounding sports figures these days. I would certainly love to talk to a real live athlete but we'll stick with the writers for now!
Powergoalie14 (8:35:22 PM): A lot of people look at other people for there knowledge of sports and the things they're most interested in. I'm not really one of those people. I hope that if they're a good person in general the next thing I look for is their interests. Do you think you could make it as a broadcaster not only on your passion and knowledge for sports, but for you as a person in general also?
LEFTY120491 (8:40:06 PM): I think that on my talent and what i have done so far, its going to be hard because if there's one thing ive learned from my time in this business so far its that there are going to be people who you just want to have nothing to do with because their rude and they don't give you a chance to follow your dream. Don't ever let people take away an opportunity from you especially when you have the confidence in your self to succeed and do better. If i make it to the big time, I will have one special memory: The fact that I had no connections and I did every little thing on my own time and by myself. I got myself to where i am, no body else helped me. I accomplished something with no one's guidance, just my own true spirit achieved that goal. I'll never forget that.
This guy is amazing. His dream is to be a sports broadcaster, and as far as I'm concerned, he is living his dream already! He has a lot of confidence in himself, and he does have a friend Jimmy helping cover football but doing all the sports with him also, but he did all of the podcast creating (I think so), and all his parents did was let him start one, and hopefully keep supporting him.
