All About Me

Pete Waldmeir.

Grosse Pointe Woods resident 25 years. Elected to a four-year term on  GP Woods City Council in November 2005. Married, four adult children. Retired Detroit News columnist; sports, general news and features. Elected  to Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. Various other awards. Veteran, United States Marine Corps. Attended Wayne State University. Member, WSU Mackenzie Honor Society.

Volunteer work: Secretary and resident agent, Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit (Christmas gifts for needy kids.)  Deliver Meals on Wheels weekly to shut-ins;  assist at St. John Senior Community; member, advisory board, H. T. Ewald Foundation (award student scholarships).

Council duties: Trustee/vice-chair, Grosse Pointe Woods' pension board; representative to Senior Citizens Commission; Chair, Ad Hoc Insurance Committee; Chair, Council Publications and PR Committee.

 Hobbies: Enjoy city council responsibilities; reading, writing, entertaining friends.
