A slight change on the way

You may have noticed that I have not been as active with my camera lately, especially since I have been off work for about a week so far.  Truth of the matter is, I've been here in my office, by the computer for pretty much the entire week doing research.  Part of that was a previous post about what print size you would like in your home.  Thank you to everyone that participated in that survey, it was a great help to me in my research.

So what have I been researching?  Well, I've been looking at a few odds and ends to help me jump in the world of professional photography.  It has been a hobby for nearly three years now, and quite frankly I am ready to move forward with things and really do this seriously.  So, I needed a few things to make that happen.

The cornerstone of the change comes in the form of a Canon 40D DSLR body.  Along with that body, I will be adding three Canon L Lenses, along with a digital-only wide angle lens which all together covers a focal length range of 16-300mm, currently I am restricted to 28-200mm.  Filters will be provided by Singh-Ray, B+W, and Hoya.  To get the most out of this new rig, I have upgraded my printer to the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF5000 which will handle the print size that 46% of you wanted in your homes.  That leaves my computer which is very outdated (2001 budget model Dell), so I stepped up, and have a new Dell on the way that will handle anything I can throw at it photographically.

So, as you can see, I have been quite busy.  I look forward to exploring my newfound capabilities, and sharing them with you.  Other than some facelifts here and there, nothing will change with the gallery or any of my journals.  I will be working on a new price list to include the larger 13", 16", and 17" print sizes available...including an outsourced 24" print for those that want the very best.

Look for a new and improved equipment list to be completed in the next few weeks that will detail everything I will be carrying on my Photo Treks.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement, I look forward to bringing you more and more high quality images.

SO glad!  Toldjya'...I can't wait.  I may not be well-schooled in application, myself...but I know, and have been told all my life that I have a gift "for an eye"...  You've got something here, Sir. ;)  C.

Good luck in the professional world, I've no doubt I'll see your name in lights in the future.

It's a brilliant idea to place the mill stones in concrete to preserve their place in history......shame the graffiti artists didn't think so.  Graffiti can be art, but not that sort.  Maybe one day they'll see what you show us in your photo's, the beauty that surrounds us. Rache

I really envy you your knowledge of photography. I wish I wasn't so lazy so that I could learn more. I just get frustrated with instructions and complex things. I will just enjoy your pictures. I hope you do well. Maybe you should try so close up of flowers and birds and bugs. I enjoy those things.
