Equipment Guide

The following is a complete list of the photographic gear that I carry with me when going into the field.  This entry will be updated as my equipment changes.  Currently, I carry two bags with me.  The first is a Tamrac Expedition 5 photo rucksack.

Attached to this bag are some MAS (Modular Accessory System) items that are also offered by TamracOn the left, there is a medium sized pocket that is the perfect size for my collection of 4"x6" Singh-Ray Filters.  On the right, there is a water bottle attachment that is perfect for a bit of hydration in the wild.

The three pockets on the face of this bag are useful for smaller items such as memory cards, batteries, notebooks, business cards, and a pen.  The lower pouch is designed for the feet of a small tripod, but I don't own one small enough to be carried on the back of this bag.  Instead, I have used it for a Gerber Multi-Tool, mini Maglite, and some screw drivers.  Beneath the face of the bag is a large zippered compartment where I keep a towel, shower cap, and a rain poncho.

I also carry a Canon 200DG gadget bag for some special use items that I like to have accessible, but not necessarily with my main bag.

The items that are found in this bag are a vertical battery grip for my Canon 40D, and the lens hoods for each of the lenses.  You can also find a small water squirter for macro work, as well as a cleaning kit.  These are items that I don't always need, but occasionally, I might have a use for these items and want them close by.  This bag goes with me on my Treks, but will not be carried on the longer hikes to keep my weight down.

Now for a complete list of my equipment, as well as links to reviews that I have written for epinions.com.  Here is a picture of the Tamrac bag opened up to see where everything fits.

Greg, I don't know how I missed this one.  Wow!  I am overwhelmed at all the stuff you carry.  So neat and arranged just right . You carry the Tamrac Expeditionand and a Canon 100DG gadget bag?  ok I am getting the bags mixed up. One bag will not be carried on long treks because of added weight.
I know what you need.  A packhorse to carry all your equipment.

:) impressive.  With equipment like that it's not just a hobby, like me and a little camera, it's a passion :) it looks heavy yet I like how snug everything fits.  Good luck on your outings.  Can't wait :) Rache

Do you have cord on top of your backpak by the handle?
I was wondering if you knew what that was for?
I have it on mine.  Of course I did not get any instructions on mine....but even on my new bag, they really don't tell you what each little thing is for on the backpaks.
    Nice stuff!
