A word about the reviews

I'm so happy that everyone seems to be getting something out of some, or most of my reviews.  That is my goal here, and actually, it is the same goal I have for all of the entries here at Photo Trek.  Based on some comments left, I would like to clarify some things for everyone real quick.

Yes, many of these reviews are technical in nature.   They are intended for those that are already interested in purchasing the product.  The reviews are not meant to teach (although I do slip that in occasionally) about the products.  I will do that through my Tips and Tricks journal.  As some of you already have, please ask if I cover something in my reviews that you would like to learn more about.  For instance, I will be covering the use of the Huey PRO monitor calibration device in my next tutorial.  I will also be covering the use of the Lee Foundation Kit for the slot filters later on.

I just want to emphasize that these reviews are not meant to make anyone feel bad about their level of knowledge of photography.  Everyone has their own skill level, and that is great.  Just because you don't know how to use a particular product doesn't make you any less of a photographer.  There is nothing that says that you can't use these reviews as a jumping off point to go out and learn more about something as many of you are doing with the Lee Foundation Kit.  I'll be happy to add my two cents on the use of these products as well if there is enough interest.

Also, since these reviews are done for epinions.com, I am not using many illustrations.  If you click the link at the bottom which will take you to the review, you will find a picture of the product at the top of the review for reference.  If I happen to have a photograph of the item I am talking about, I will add it here.

For a complete list of the products that I have reviewed, you can go to my profile page at epinions, and select "view more opinions by ncphototrekker".  This will take you to a complete listing of all reviews I have done there, which includes more than what I share here.  You can also view the entry in Photo Trek where I keep a listing of all my equipment, along with any reviews I've done on the products.  I have a graphic on the sidebar (picture of the camera and lenses) that will take you right to that page.

I hope that cleared some things up for everyone, and will allow you to enjoy the reviews a bit more.  I would also like to thank everyone for being so willing to read through these reviews, and for leaving very supportive comments on them.

i, for one, feel very lucky to have access to your reviews.  not all are pertinent to/for me...but that's ok, as many are, and even those that aren't i still glean something from them.  :)  hope that made sense.

Thanks Greg, I have been reading the last few days, but haven't commented much. The things you have been covering are above my level, not of understanding, but of being able to even dream about purching at this point. I do enjoy reading and as I've said many times already, I will be coming here when the time comes to actually start making more advanced purchases.
