Photo Trek: The Bicentennial Gardens

Photo Trek: 04-16-2008, The Bicentennial Gardens, Greensboro, NC
I think it is the same all across the US...Spring is taking its sweet time getting here this year. I have been wanting to get some seasonal colors for a while now, and finally decided to go to a park in Greensboro that has a whole bunch of flowers that are meticulously maintained. While only a portion of them had bloomed, there was a fair amount of color to be found in the park.

Bicentennial Gardens
As you can see, this is a very pretty place to visit with some nice walkways through the flowers. This picture is quite deceiving because there were a good many people walking around when I was there. I had to wait for the right time to release the shutter for the wider angle views like this one. Most of the ones that I came home with had a person or two in the distance that I missed in the viewfinder. This was one of the few that turned out the way I intended.

Flower Bed
The flowers were not the only draws to this little garden spot in the middle of the city. The trees were quite interesting as well. I have always enjoyed trees that look a little different than the norm. There were several of them to be found in the park. The only issue was finding a way to photograph them where the background wouldn't be distracting. In most cases that wasn't possible, so for some frames, I decided to embrace the background.

Knotted, Wooden Frame
There were other times, that I tried to completely eliminate the background altogether and just focus on the tree itself...

Shedding Tree
As you can see, I had quite a fun outing and managed to capture a few different images. The total tally for the day was eight new photographs that have been added to the galleries of Four Forty-Six Photography. You will find four new additions in the Macro/Detail Room, and four new additions in the Landscapes Room.

There are beautiful colours in this one. I like how the branches of your tree is seperating the sections........that middle one stretches far, leading you to what's further in the distance. Some wonderful cool dappled shade......indeed it say's spring. Rache

I'm expecting Dorothy and the scarecrow to skip along the path any minute now! lol How do you get the size of these pictures to incorporate into your journal?
