Photo Trek: Alaska

Photo Trek: 05-12-2008 -- 05-21-2008, Anchorage, and the Kenai Penninsula of Alaska.

Well, after working a solid 20 hours straight since getting home last night, I finally have all the pictures from my latest Photo Trek processed.  I've already given you the gist of the Trek as far as what we did, and where we did it...the only thing now is to introduce some pictures.  That might be easier said than done since I have now added over 70 new pictures to the gallery.  You can find them spread out in the Wildlife Room, the Macro/Details Room, as well as the brand spanking new Travel Room.  I will go ahead and post some of the highlights, but believe me, you have to see them all to fully appreciate the scope of this Trek.

Portage Glacier

This is one of my favorite shots from the trip and was actually the last one that I took on the way back to Anchorage.  As I mentioned before Anchorage isn't all that scenic, but the backdrop is rather spectacular.

Downtown Anchorage

My favorite place that we stayed in Alaska has to be Seward where we stayed right on the harbor.  I was fortunate one morning to be able to get up as the sun was rising...actually it doesn't actually fully set in Alaska.

Boat Launch

The picture you see above is my absolute favorite from the entire Trek.  I just love the way the sun lights up the buildings along the shore.  By the way, I used a split ND filter here to help even out the exposure a bit with the bright snow covered mountains behind the darker buildings.

Here's one last one which represents one of the few times I used my superwide angle lens...

Homer's Beach

I do hope you enjoy all the new additions to the gallery.

What a beautiful place to visit Greg! The whole place looks like a picture postcard, it must be wonderful to see it up close as you did. Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

Portage Glacier is a beautiful example of blues that you mentioned.   The intensity of light is brilliant.    I visited the travel room and clicked on just one of the thumbnails to enlarge but could see so many tremendous examples of Alaska I have never seen before.    750 photos to choose from must be a great task.   I am happy that you and Jennifer had such a wonderful trip.    mark

Just visited the gallery....you did some spectacular work.  Thank you for letting us make the trip vicariously.

LOVED your featured photo, In The Wake.  I can see why you chose to single it out.  The light...the waves...the backdrop.  WOW!  I also loved Wave Catcher.  So dramatic!
