Dear Abby
I found this article in the Albuquerque Journal from 1966... I was looking at Old Newspapers online on Ancestry.com for Genealogy info on my Family Tree...
I thought it funny as I was looking up things on my own "Family Tree"... As it is I've found out one of my Distant Cousins robbed a Bank in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1965. He was arrested about 30 some minutes afterwards as the Teller recognized his voice... He stole like $20, 430 give or take some...
And I found my Father in the November 25, 1963 Edition of Sports Illustrated... "John, 18, of San Diego , the North American singles roller skating champion, won the men's singles title at the World Invitational Championships in Las Vegas . He defeated Karlheinz Losch of West Germany , who had won the world title five years in a row."
Mom says that Grandmother wouldn't let him go the next year to defend his crown because it was in another Country... She didn't like the Politics and didn't want him involved in them either... but she was the typical "Stage Mom" while he was skating... Telling him how to do it even though she couldn't herself....
I have copies of Articles that my Grandma saved from when my Grandpa worked for NASA thru the Army Air Force. He was part of the Inspection Crew, one of the leaders sometimes. He also got to work at some Missile Silos... He got to inspect all the Rockets before they took off... and he inspected them when they came back... He's got a buncha Memorabilia from his NASA years... Grandma even has alot of his Job Evaluation Sheets... They all thought Grandpa was great... He could fix things and was always able to make something work even if he had to jerry rigg it somehow... he was good at thinking outside the box...
It's interesting the things I have found on my Grandpa's Family (Mom's Daddy). His family is the one I have the most info on now... And I'm still adding to it.. I wanna see how many family Branches I can connect to the Tree... Got Quite a few already... but I'm looking for more info on these people.. So it kinda tells a more complete story of their lives... especially since most of them can't anymore... alot of them are all gone...
