Feeling Hopeful

Just Pray

It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

But, Lord, ˜tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Feeling Cheerful

Yay School Is Out.... Let the Summer Begin!

It's been too long since I updated but so nice to be journaling here.  I spent the spring tending to planting a veggie garden that is really going like crazy right now and talking the husband into more flower beds for the yard both front and back.  We added three knock out rose shrubs to the new front island bed and they are giving us hours of delightful bright pink blossoms!

The petunias here by the mailbox, below, seem to be doing very well in the sun so I will be adding more of those soon.  One of other rose shrubs is in bloom and I have to get outside and snap a photo soon.  I was pleasantly surprised to see it bloom because we moved it this year in the spring so it would be more visible to the front of the house, and also to make room for our veggie garden, so, long story short, the husband and I did not expect it to bloom this year.

My husband Rob is so wonderful with landscaping and he put all the edging in for the flower beds for me and what a relief to have more planting space.  The veggie garden is really doing well.  We all ready have lettuce and radish ready for our salads.  We have tomatoes and corn, beans and peas, carrots, cucumbers, onions, pumpkin and cantaloupe planted.  Many are all ready up and nearing harvest.  I have a ton of weeding to do.

School ended last Thursday so the kids are officially on summer break now.  They grew a lot this year, learned a lot of new words... Nick got the President's award for physical fitness and has been playing baseball.  Aaron built a fort in the valley across the street and Courtney is our social butterfly.  We are so proud of them.  Aaron and Courtney were promoted to 3rd grade and Nick is going to be in 8th grade.

I've also been reading a lot inbetween work and cleaning house and have a whole stack of paperbacks and other books to read.  Working on "War and Peace" right now and it's a wonderful story and lots of history contained inside.  The best read of the year for me was "The House of Mirth" by Edith Wharton.  What a book....!!

We found a new church but I miss the old one.... the new one is a little closer.  The youth group seems bigger for our teen though.  We are slowly adapting to it but I really long to go to the other one.

I booked a mini vacation to Branson MO for Labor Day weekend and am really looking forward to it.  We plan to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home & Museum and I will have to be dragged away.  It's been a life long dream for me to visit it... I still watch all the re-runs nearly everyday and record them on my dvr of the tv series and have read her books several times each and several of the biographical books about her life.

Aunt Cindy and my two nieces and nephew are moving here in August and we are so happy that more family will be following us to Kentucky.  We're all looking forward to a busy summer of seeing museums, plantations, historical homes, going to the library, the zoo and visiting some state parks and historical sites right here in our locality.  Now if I can just find a beach house for a brief weekend getaway and figure out the  dates for a trip to the East Coast we will have a grand summer!

We had a wonderful Derby Day here in the spring as well... I wore a hat and we went to a Derby brunch party at a plantation house.  It was a wonderful party complete with caterers and nine yards of exquisite entertainment.  The city was alive and electrified that day!  We felt terrible about the horse that had to be put down who broke both ankles.  At the same time, happy for Big Brown.  An emotional day.  The hats always blow my mind away.... so many and all so beautiful.  I wore a nice black hat with a big black bow in the back and a coordinating summer dress.  Celebrities poured into town for the race.... The kickoff Derby festival fireworks event was wonderful as well.... "Thunder Over Louisville."  It was a cold day though, very cold.

God is good, life is good, rewarding, busy and full.  I sincerely hope I can finish my filing stack and the mending and cleaning out clothes that the kids have outgrown.  It's going to be a busy two weeks ahead... and not to forget the weeding and gardening.  Hope you are all well and thanks for stopping by!!

We'll Miss You Charleton Heston!

I read about the death of Charleton Heston.... so sad we have lost another actor.  We will miss you!!  May the angels carry you home safely to heaven!!

Also today I read Time's article about the trial concerning Princess Diana's death... the jury decided it was a murder but they did not have enough evidence to link it to the royal palace.  The jury took four days to deliver the verdict.  You can click on the link below to read about the trial and the results.

It's spring break here and the Derby kickoff festival is this weekend, beginning with Thunder Over Louisville again.  Hoping for good weather!

JLand Photo Shoot #130 - Photographer's Choice :

Happy Birthday Krissy!!  Click on link above to go to Krissy's blog to play along.

Here's my photographer's choice:

Spring is in the air... and Easter is around the corner.  A few years ago I made this Easter ham and it's decorated in maraschino cherries and pineapple.  I think we'll have another ham like this for Easter this coming year.

How to Upload Music Into Your Journal, Just Passing It On

So here is how to upload music into your journal for those of you who are new to Journal Land or have never tried this before.  If when following these directions  it does not work, then you would need to go back through each step to be sure you have done it exactly as directed below.

Then, if it still does not work, you would need to contact AOL because I don't really know how to fix it if it does not work.  I am not much of a technical guru, but if you follow my directions exactly, you will be able to do this without any problems at all... unless your journal is just messed up or your ftp space isn't working or something like that.

To do this you will be learning how to use html formatting if you haven't done anything like this before.

No, I am sorry, I don't know much about ftp space metioned in step one below, except that the space there is limited and you may have to delete files after a while if you upload too many things to it.  I also believe it is shared information with other members but I am not even sure about that.  I do know that to get to your ftp space, you use the AOL internal search bar, type in "my ftp space," and it will pop up and you select it from the list of options.

Step 1:

Upload a song from your computer to your ftp space.  It is a good idea to know the name of the song or the name you want to give it before you upload it.  It will ask you for a name and you will always code it as an mp3 file.  When it asks you the binary file name, name it a name you will easily remember.  So in other words, you will select the binary option when uploading.  Once you do this a few times, this will all make sense, so don't try to understand it until you try it.  When naming your file for instance, the girl that sent me these directions a few years ago, named her song of choice "New York State of Mind" as:  Ny.mp3

Step 2.

Once it uploads, get out a little notebook or something to write on so you can write the html code down before you try to upload it to your journal.  It is a long code so paper helps.  You will be about to type in the following code into your about me section under the html option instead of the text option, but replace my screen name with yours and my filename with yours into the format below the paragraph with the helpful tip in it:

(Below is the code html format to use... and it must be exactly the same before you type it in your journal, except for your screen name and your file name of your song will be your screen name and your music code.  If you use capital letters you must use capital letters on your code.)

<P><IMG height=1 loop=infinite dynsrc=http://members.aol.com/randlprysock/Ny.mp3 width=1 autostart="true"></P>

Step 3.  Open up your journal and open the about me section, select the html format instead of text format and then begin to type in the code you have written down on your paper into your about me section... then hit save to your about me section.  Sometimes the music will start playing within a few moments right after that.

Give it a few moments to load.  If it does not work right away, I often close my journal and then go back in and see if it starts playing within a minute of my journal opening.  If not playing within a minute then it probably did not load, and you need to try it again.  You may have to try it several times to be sure your spacing is correct and that everything worked.

Hope this helps someone.  Someone helped me when I first started journaling many years ago and I like to pass it on!

Hugs,

Lisa

Feeling Happy

It's Been a While

Wow, it's been a while since I did an update in this journal.  This month we've had some crazy weather here in Kentucky lately.... everything from snow to tornados ... and wild 30 mph winds today.  The wind has been howling most of the day on and off.  Not sure if we want to venture out in it.  We're so glad it's Friday and the weekend is here.  Brrrr it's cold outside.

Since Christmas, Rob and I celebrated our ten year anniversary and had a beautiful vacation in the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN.  We stayed in a beautiful log cabin five star resort with all the amenities you could want.  It was a wonderful vacation!!

While there, we enjoyed exploring the mountain scenic views looking down into the city from 1500 feet and more up in the air.  I was glad to get back down to the flat ground though.  We rode a ski lift up another beautiful mountain and from way up there you could see the whole city lit up with Christmas lights; but again, I took a huge breath of relief when we were done with the ride and back on flat ground again.  We really enjoyed walking around Gatlinburg.  It was very quaint and charming with lots to do and see.  We bundled up and enjoyed hot cocoa and a wintery walk the night of the ski lift ride.

We arrived in the mountains on NY Eve and watched the ball drop in Times Square on tv and watched movies late into the night.... and hung out in our cabin with the whirlpool bathtub, huge master bedroom, fully stocked kitchen, living room with roll out sofa beds for the kids... and our own washer and dryer!

One day while we were there we took the kids to the on-site resort multi million dollar indoor waterpark.  And we enjoyed a dinner show!  It was a really memorable vacation.  We went out to eat two or three times and made a nice dinner and breakfast in our condo several times.  We also enjoyed sitting in the hot tub outdoors while itwas snowing.  We are planning to go back again later this year and do some horseback riding this time.

January brought my birthday on the 31st and I'll just say I turn 28 every year.  We haven't really celebrated yet.  I think we may go to Olive Garden tonight or tomorrow night.  Just depends on if I can get my nails done, hair done, outfit ready to wear.  LOL.

All seems well here in KY.  The puppies, Maggie and Brownie, get a little bigger everyday.  They are beautiful dogs.  They still chew up a lot of things.  The kitty is still very little and pristine (Dakota).  Her mother London has stopped coming around to visit and we think someone may have taken her in finally.  She hated being indoors though and will only be happy if they let her outside a lot.

The kids are doing well.  We've had one snow day so far in January and hope for maybe another soon.  It's so beautiful here when it snows.  We all look forward to the snow after five years in Florida and missing living in the north and having four seasons.

They had report cards the other day.  Nick is getting ready for spring baseball and is an official teen now and sometimes has the attitude to go with it.  He loves the study of all things scientific and especially space exploration.  Aaron is building a fort in the valley across from us.  And Courtney is still a princess and loves all things Hannah Montana.

It's nice dropping in here for a change of pace from my private journal.  Hope you are all doing well.   Have a great weekend!

Mother's Lament

We missed you this year again Nick.  It's hard every other year when you go to have Christmas with your dad but I know you will be home soon.  I know you are having a great time with your dad and that this is important too!!  Just be safe and be cautious in all things.  Please don't do those back flips with your dad up in the air.  SCARY!!  I can't wait for you to open the presents Santa brought you!!!  Come home to me safe and sound and soon!

Love,

Mom
