The Ugliness of Man Continues Onward
I was standing outside late tonight in Portland, Oregon and the air was just amazing. I looked up at the glorious night sky, its soft breeze, the mildly cool air, and for just one surreal moment, I felt inner peace. My life is pretty rough right now, in comparison to those in my circles but at least tonight I could experience a moment. Yet almost simultaneously, I had this thought, what if I had lived my whole life and never experienced a 10 second moment of inner peace? What if I was a little child who only knew fear? I know our hearts are heavy with all the increase of crime going around the world, and we wonder how much more can the human heart take. If we are to remain human, if we are going to be able to notice the sweet night air, or to notice the smell of roses, we must remain connected. A calloused heart only knows a rock, thus misses much! It benefits you to feel sorrow for others because empathy ignites those tomorrow moments of joy. A giving person offers a heart that doesn't miss out on joy and doesn't dismiss grief either. We guard our hearts because we think it will be too much to bare. Its only too much if you have no hope. The only people I know who feel no hope are those who do nothing and hide under a rock. This philosophy is truth. Its never known another story.

UGANDA
Lisa Ling reported on Oprah about the "Lords Resistance Army." I posted the above photo of this insane man who leads an army, Joseph Kony. He and his rebels actually cook children, burn them, mutilate them and make them sexual slaves for their entire life. His army demands that all the children must murder others, in order to be spared their life. Ten of thousands of children walk the night sky, to a place that is surrounded by bars and not their mothers arms. The Uganda government has established these camps to offer a safer place for them to go because their families can't protect them. They are the children of the night walking for hours in large groups. Safety in numbers isn't like a warm blanket to them, they have no other choice. They live in fear during the day because they could be kidnapped by Joseph Kony's Army. They sleep in these camps to avoid being captured. They don't look up at the night sky and know what I felt tonight. They have never known it. If we get pro-active in this situation we could take out Joseph Kony and his rebels quickly. This isn't the same situation as Sudan, which will cost far more financially and will need our united political efforts. My hopes is Joseph Kony will be of no more by this year. We can step up to the plate and annihilate his Satan's army. Just like Hitler, Joesph Kony feels he is a god and doing gods work. Its time America, to give him another perspective, his undoing by us.
SUDAN
George Clooney made a very good point today on Oprah, that I hadn't pondered enough on. I have thought of it before, I have felt it for others before but tonight, I felt it far deeper than ever. In reflection to Mr. Clooneys statements, no matter how hard my life is, there is a living part of my subconscious that I can hang onto, its called positive thoughts. I can make a better life for me and my kids. I can think in terms of- the coming up and out, in my present circumstances, as always a possibility. The people in Sudan don't have thoughts of positive possibilities. The African Muslims are being slaughtered by Muslims of another race. Whether its religion or race it all comes down to individuals who kill to feel powerful. A total cost of over 400,000 humans and a debt in our hearts, that needs to be paid by our action. He asked that we write congress and our president. DO IT! We're experiencing what our parents experienced, genocide again. Africa has been through this before just as many other nations have, in mans history. This horrifying crime against the people of Sudan belongs to the whole world. The United Nations must require a serious response from the government of Sudan. The government of Sudan must allow UN officials to come in and monitor their efforts. They have no choice in this. We must intervene! We cant wait like we did during World War II. We must become nations of humanitarians once again; with a united consciousness honoring the 400,000 humans who have found death, and the 100,000's more, soon to know their ending.
