Allstate is dropping most of its earthquake insurance. Allstate lost 1.5 billion because of Hurricane Katrina. Do I blame them? No, I don't. I think rebuilding in an area which is prone to natural disasters is like playing the lottery. You will loose eventually and its a wasteful investment. Let me tell you what it all means in about ten years. Yah ready? Insurance for natural disasters will be a thing of the past.  I thought I would let you know cause I am sure the stock holders are armed and well alerted. When the majority of insurance companies do stop, just watch how many people relocate to the West coast or other states with the least amount of natural disasters. It's going to happen and I am not happy about it. This will create much larger cities and in Oregon, we're used to our laid back ways.  Oregon is environmentally friendly and a safe state in terms of natural disasters. The last thing I want is a whole bunch of people moving here who aren't environmentally conscious. Sorry, gotta be real about it. The way a state is run can change quickly and before we know it, Oregon's avid protection for our forests could be no longer and all about big business and more homes. Why? The people moving here weren't raised with our granola conscious state. Pollution, recycling and some of our anal views could become a minority. Do I sound paranoid?..lol...Well, I could write a long article on what is to be expected but Allstate is the first and the rest will follow. If your smart you will start building businesses in states with the fewest natural disasters. Business will be booming soon enough.
