In Remembrance of Nicholas Berg

I hope the media will begin to cover again; the remembrance of our hero's who died by the hands of Al-Quaida movement. One Jewish American who was beheaded in 2004 by the Al-Qaida, believed in the Iraq war and Bush.  I cried when I thought of Nicholas today and the many other American hero's. al-Zarqawi's death and the finality of justice served, stirs up the emotions of how much we've lost by this man and his followers. The loss has been great and American's continue to mourn. We will never know the fear and pain that they experienced but we're alive and able to seek after that justice will get served, al-Zarqawi breathes no more.

Nicholas Berg was only 26 years old when he died. He was from Pennsylvania and in Iraq on business. He was a former Boy Scout and an entrepreneur who loved life. Nicholas loved adventure and was fearless. He was told to not travel in Iraq alone without security but he was not a man driven by fear.

Now Nicholas's father, Michael Berg is a pacifist. Today, Mr. Berg is running on the Green Party ticket in Delaware for a seat in the House of Representatives. Michael Berg said, "The news of the loss of any human being is a tragedy. I think al-Zarqawi's death is a double tragedy."  Today, Mr. Berg questions if al-Zarqawi is responsible for his sons death, yet the video of his son captured was aired by Muntada al-Ansar.  Muntada al-Ansar and al-Zarqawi are both associated with the Al-Qaida movement. I'm not sure by what logic Michael Berg draws his conclusions from but he and I clearly disagree on much. I will say this- Michael Berg has my compassion and my utter respect because he has suffered a great loss and yet offers complete forgiveness, which I admired.

I think idealistic views are admirable to a point but for ideals to be truth, they must remain consistent no matter the circumstance. Pacifist are great philosophers and I respect their unwavering passions but as a Christian, God at times will make war and at times God will not--Wisdom Understands When.

Nicholas Berg was a brave man. I'm glad that al-Zarqawi and some of his followers can't kill anyone ever again. I hope the media will remind us of those who were killedby theAl-Qaida movement. It's a day of reckoning to be known, remembered and to keep fighting for.

Time details of Nicholas final end
  • From 00:00:08 to 00:00:22, Berg introduces himself.
  • Then a pronouncement is read by a masked man standing between four other masked men.
  • At 00:04:30 in the video, one of the men attacks Berg with a knife; the men surround him; very quickly, screams can be heard as Berg is held by the men and beheaded.
  • At 00:05:20, the head is presented to the camera. It is then laid on Berg's dead body.
