Worlds Largest Swimming Pool . . .

Worlds largest swimming pool, AMAZING!

If you like doing laps in the swimming pool, you might want to stock up on the energy drinks before diving in to this one.

It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water.

Yesterday the Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside the sea in Chile as the biggest in the world.

But if you fancy splashing out on one of your own - and you have the space to accommodate it - then beware: This one took five years to build, cost nearly 1billion and the annual maintenance bill will be 2million.

The man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile 's southern coast, since it opened last month.

Its turquoise waters are so crystal clear that you can see the bottom even in the deep end.

It dwarfs the world's second biggest pool, the Orthlieb - nicknamed the Big Splash - in Morocco , which is a mere 150 yards long and 100 yards wide. An Olympic size pool measures some 50 yards by 25 yards.

Chile's monster pool uses a computer- controlled suction and filtration system to keep fresh seawater in permanent circulation, drawing it in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out at the other.

The sun warms the water to 26c, nine degrees warmer than the adjoining sea.

Chilean biochemist Fernando Fischmann, whose Crystal Lagoons Corporation designed the pool, said advanced engineering meant his company could build 'an impressive artificial paradise' even in inhospitable areas.

'As long as we have access to unlimited seawater, we can make it work, and it causes no damage to the ocean.'

All I can say is WOW!

Ain't it the truth

My father-in-law had prostate surgery.
We brought him to the hospital at
6:30 A.M.,
And he was operated on
at 8 A.M.
We were amazed when the hospital called
At noon to tell us he could go home.

Two months later our bloodhound, Bo,
Also had prostate surgery.

When I brought him in,
I asked the
veterinarian what time
I should pick him
up.
The vet told me Bo would
Remain overnight.

"Overnight?" I said
"My father-in-law came home
The same day."

The vet looked at me and said,
"Bo's not on Medicare!"

Wal-Mart Ship

Just another little boat..............this thing is longer than an Aircraft Carrier

This is a new ship Wal-Mart had built to make 10 day cycles between China and the USA .  It can load and refuel in less than one day.  A ships beam is its width if you are a landlubber.

All I can say is if it ever sinks, Wal-mart and a lot of US consumers will be in trouble.

This is how Wal-Mart gets all its stuff from China . Get a load of this ship!

15,000 containers and a 207' beam! And look at the crew-size for a ship

longer than a US aircraft carrier which has a complement of 5,000 men and

officers. Think it's big enough? Notice that 207' beam means it was NOT designed for
the Panama or Suez Canal .. It is strictly transpacific. Check out the
cruise speed: 31 knots means the goods arrive 4 days before the typical
container ship (18-20 knots) on a China-to-California run. So this
behemoth is hugely competitive carrying perishable goods.

This ship was built in three, or perhaps as many as five sections. The

sections floated together and then were welded. The ship is named

Emma Maersk. The command bridge is higher than a 10-story building

and has 11 crane rigs that can operate simultaneously.

Additional info:
Country of origin - Denmark
Length - 1,302 ft
Width - 207 ft
Net cargo - 123,200 tons
Engine - 14 in-line cylinders diesel engine (110,000 BHP) Cruise Speed - 31
knots, Cargo capacity  - 15,000 TEU (1 TEU = 20 ft3 container)
Crew - 13 people First Trip - Sept. 08, 2006 Construction cost - US
$145,000,000+  Silicone painting applied to the ship bottom reduces water

resistance and  saves 317,000 gallons of diesel per year  .

sQuba --- a real swimming car which you can buy !!!

Three decades ago James Bond (then enacted by British star Roger Moore) wowed the world with a car that could 'fly' under water in the movie The Spy Who Loved Me. Only, it was animation and not an actual scene.
But Frank M Rinderknecht, the 52-year-old automobile visionary and boss of Swiss automaker Rinspeed, has turned a dream into reality with his 'sQuba.'
Rinspeed sQuba is the most exciting thing at this year's Geneva Motor Show and is creating many a ripple.

sQuba is the world's first real submersible car that can 'move like a fish underwater'.

It can dive up to 32.8 feet (10 mt) below the surface of the water and can move at a sedate 1.8 miles per hour.

The sQuba has an open cockpit for 'safety reasons' (so that people can get out easily anytime in case of an emergency). The occupants of the car have to breathe compressed air through built-in scuba masks.

sQuba is an electric car that uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and 3 electric motors for propulsion. It is a zero-emission car as documented by the rotating license plate in the rear. It produces no exhaust emissions.

The 'sQuba's' filling station is the water reservoir.? It is no surprise that the vehicle features powerful yet energy-saving LED lighting technology.

The first car that could drive underwater was Quandt's Amphibicar, built in 1968. Only 3,878 were produced but many are still being driven on roads.

Then Gibbs Technologies came up with Gibbs Aquada in 2004 which Virgin boss Richard Branson used to break the speed record for crossing the English Channel .
However, the sQuba seems to be the most exciting of them all.

To drive on the roads, the sQuba 'relies on a stainless coil-over suspension from KW automotive and large Pirelli tires mounted on custom-made forged light-weight wheels from AEZ with 17- and 18-inch diameters.'

sQuba, World's first Swimming Car!!!

Holy Crap ( Read before you look at the picture)

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS FIRST BEFORE LOOKING AT The
PICTURE.

Family on holiday in Australia for a week and a half when husband, wife and their 15 year old son decided to go scuba diving. The husband is in the navy and has had some scuba experience.  His son wanted a picture of his mum and dad in all their gear so he got the under water camera ready to go. When it came to taking the picture the dad realized that the son looked like he was panicking as he took it and gave the 'OK' hand sign to see if he was alright.

The son took the picture and swam to the surface and back to the boat as quick as he could so the mum and dad followed to see if he was OK.  When they got back to him he was scrambling onto the boat and absolutely panicking.  When the parents asked why he said 'there was a shark behind you.' The dad thought he was joking but the skipper of the boat said it was true but they wouldn't believe him.  As soon as they got back to the hotel they loaded the picture onto the laptop and this is what they saw.

(Try and tell me you wouldn't have emptied your
entire digestive system right at the point you saw it)

Would you have stayed to take the picture??
