Waiting for the storm

Hi , Thought I would post some more recipes but before I do,( the recipe for fried corn bread) if you want it sweet just add a little sugar, honey or pure maple syrup.

Cherry Red Hot Salad

1/2 cup red hots candy (dissolve in 1 cup BOILING water)  2 boxes cherry jello (dissolve in 3 cups water). 1/2 hot 1/2 cold. Be sure it has all dissolved.  2 cups finely diced apples  1 cup finely diced celery  1/2 cup diced nuts. Mix these with the liquid and set in icebox til set.

Frog Eye Salad

1 cup sugar  1tbsp flour  2 1/2 tsp salt  1 3/4 cup pineapple juice  2 eggs beaten  33 oz drained mandarin oranges  1 tbsp oil 1 3 1/2 oz Cool Whip  1 jar maraschino cherries drained  16 oz ACINI DE PEPE ( this is pasta and comes in a box, when cooked it looks like tapioca)  1 tbsp lemon juice  3 qts water  40 oz drained pineapple tidbits  1 cup miniature marshmallows.

Combine sugar, flour, 1/2 tsp salt, gradually add beaten eggs& pineapple juice. Cook on moderate heat until thickened. Add lemon juice. Cool to room temp. Bring water , 2 tsp salt & oil to boil and cook pasta. Make sure your fruits are WELL DRAINED. When pasta has cooled pour the sauce over it and mix well then add your fruits, Cool Whip and marshmallows. Mix lightly. This recipe Makes A LOT!!!!!!!!!

Beef Jerky

1 1/2 lbs steak (Flank or Brisket)  1/2 tsp seasoning salt  1/2 tsp garlic powder  1/2 tsp pepper  1 tsp monosodium glutamate  2 tsp liquid smoke  1/4 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce

Trim off fat, slice meat with grain about 1/4 inch, very thin. Place in shallow pan. Combine other ingredients and pour over meat. Marinate in refrig overnight. Preheat oven at 125 degrees. Lay strips on cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 hours (Leave oven door open a crack as most ovens will not go this low. Normally it takes around 6 hours to get done.

Spanish Beans

1 can kidney beans  1 can tomato soup ( or more)  1 chopped green pepper  1 chopped medium onion  1 lb hamburger  1/4 cup grated cheese I usually use more cheese, Potatoes

Brown onion & hamburger. Add other ingredients and bake for 2 to 3 hours or until thick. Serve over baked potatoes.

I think that is it for tonight. By morning we will be covered white , anyways that what the weatherman says. Who knows?  Anyway good luck with the recipes, hope you enjoy them. Love reading all the journals. Thanks for sharing. Sue
