4th of July Fireworks
It had been raining practically all day in Jacksonville. I had already made up my mind that I wasn't going to attend this years fireworks festivities......but as any avid shutterbug will tell you, the photographer in me had other ideas. I grabbed my camera (oh, I finally got a digital camera) and hit the road with exactly 20 minutes until countdown. In my rush to leave the house I forgot about my tripod so of course the shots came out shaky, even with the image stabilizer thingie my camera comes equiped with. As a matter of fact, I'm still learning how to use this camera. It's a Canon Powershot S3 IS.
Anyway, here are a few shots.....

I think you did very well without a tripod. The IS feature on cameras will usually only compensate for a stop or two of shutter speed from what you could normally handhold. I know what you are talking about when you say that the photographer in you had other ideas. That has happened to me many times. It didn't get a chance to happen for our fireworks...I was asleep about the time we would need to leave the house to see them. Sometimes I really hate working first shift.
