He Shows Me the Way

Yesterday was Holy Pascha (Easter) for Eastern Orthodoxs. In the afternoon I had planned to take the bus to the Las Vegas Library and then go to the other side of town to get my mail. Jesus changed my plans once reaching the library.

While at the library, after checking out about seven books, I discovered that there was a meeting just finishing in the community room. I had been guided to the room after reading a posted flyer:

Will Too! You are invited to join in with us in our efforts to help end "Homelessness"

I was greeted by a black woman named Elizabeth, co-founder of the organization named ,Will Too, who handed me her business card inscribed with the words "Ending Homelessness".

Elizabeth and a black man named, Nelson, who is also a member of the organization, gave me a brief summary of what their organization does. They were just as eager for my input about my own experiences with homelessness as I was to collect information about them. There were few people left lingering in the room since I had arrived as the meeting ended. I had noticed one homeless black man sitting in a chair as I was talking with Elizabeth and Nelson. After exchanging contact information with Elizabeth and Nelson, with the promise to make a contact with them soon, we shook hands and departed.

"What you told them is exactly right," a voice from behind me said, as I was walking through the courtyard of the library to catch a bus, "Everything you told them about all the problems with homelessness and why we can't get off the streets is true."

I turned around to see who was talking to me, and the man introduced himself as Charles. He was the homeless man who had been sitting in the chair in the room. I shook hands with Charles, and then we sat on a rock in the courtyard to become friends and discuss the plights of homelessness.

(To be continued-- I have a job interview to go to)
