NYC Sees a Decrease in Homelessness?

According to a recent New York Times article there is a decrease of  the homeless population in the city. But the readers, the people who live there seem to dispute the figures. The comments to the article make more sense than the content of the article.

After reading the article, I agree that most of the comments made more sense than the article. Of course, part of the problem with any type of accurate count lies with what one commenter pointed out, homelessness is a situational problem, anyone can become homeless. It's not some separate category of people. The homeless population is in state of daily flux. Your previous entry about the futility of spending large sums of money to count the homeless point out the problem with any of these counts that have been taken. I certainly suspect that the decrease touted in the article is not accurate. It's just a way for the city's leadership to pat themselves on the back and insist that they are addressing doing something to eliminate homelessness when the reality is all that they are doing is manipulating numbers on pieces of paper.--Sheria
