Feeling Embarrassed

Clothes Shopping

It dawned on me a couple of days ago that when I was told I had been hired to work for the company, they failed to mention what the dress code was.  I had been assuming that although the job does require working on some important contracts and people, I'll be working behind the scenes and will be able to dress casually (jeans, t-shirts, etc.) like I did at my previous job simular to this one.  I decided I better call and ask, however, and my answer was "business casual-no jeans or tennis shoes."  Guess what?  I have nothing but jeans and t-shirts and tennis shoes.  (Minus a couple of nice outfits that haven't fit me for months now.)

I called mom and asked if she'd go clothes shopping with me, and yesterday evening we went from store to store looking for "business casual".  You should know that I am always complaining to Stanley I don't have any nice clothes, but yesterday it dawned on me why; I hate shopping for clothes for me.  Now that I am so fat, it is so depressing to have to walk past all the nice, skinny clothes I use to wear (without appreciating it), and skim through dozens of clothing that I have to wonder if it'll cover my fat.  Ugh.  It's a lot harder to find things that look decent on me because I'm just so big.  I can't see anything helping me not look disgusting.  I felt so embarrassed to even be searching for clothes in size 20 (wow:-().  My mom tried to convince me I looked good in the clothes I finally decided on purchasing, but I know the truth.  ::sigh::

You know what I should do when I start to slack when it comes to working on losing weight?  Force myself to go clothes shopping!  Make myself find an outfit I think is just awesome and then go try it on.  The disappointing reflection in the dressing room mirrors is enough motivation to not want to ever eat again.  (lol)

Feeling Worried

I'm So Nervous!

Ever since I found out I got a job a couple of weeks ago, I have been a nervous wreck.  I'm barely sleeping, overeating (BIG TIME), and working franticly to get every inch of the house cleaned and organized (a never-ending battle).  Stan worries that my bad sleeping patterns will make it hard for me to stay awake and focused while at work.  I think that once I actually start having to get up at 4:30 a.m. and have to be awake and focused all through the day my body will adjust.

I hadn't even realized that I've become such a hermit these last few years as a stay-at-home mom.  I had it in my head that I really wanted to work outside the home because I missed socializing with other people and having somewhere else to be (besides home).  Now, however, I am about to have an anxiety attack every time I even THINK about walking into work where others will see me and interact with me next Monday!  I am so fat and disgusting I would rather hide myself away instead of impose upon others.  (Ugh...I really gotta work on my self-esteem, huh?)

I'll get through this initial anxiety, I am sure-probably after I get that first paycheck and go shopping.  hehe;-)~

Things Are Looking Up For Me:-)

Yesterday I got the call I have been waiting for for MONTHS now; a call offering me a JOB!  I begin work as a data entry clerk on January 22, 2007!  :-)  My shift will be from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. which is the shift I want.  Now, I just need to figure out how we're going to be able to get the kids to school every morning because Stan and I will both need to be out the door for work way before the school bus will pick up the boys.  I have two different families in mind to ask if they'd allow Stanley to drop the boys at their house and hang out for an hour (until the bus comes to pick them up).

I'm going to work for the next couple of weeks on getting everything at home cleaned and organized (almost there) so that things will run smoothly for everyone even without me as available as I have been for the last seven years.  ;-)  I'm also still trying to get myself use to drinking lots of water, eating more healthy foods, and excercising regularly.  I'm struggling with the water and foods, but I do manage to fit in excercise every day.  That's improvement!

Feeling Chillin'

The Deaths of Gerald Ford and Saddam Hussein

Ever since watching all the live coverage (and videos) of Saddam Hussein's execution over the weekend, I have been unable to sleep for more than three hours.  Although I do realize Hussein was an evil man who ordered and participated in horrible acts upon mankind, I KNEW I would have a hard time dealing with his execution.  (WHY oh WHY did I watch the coverage?)  The death of another human being is always so sad to me, and I dwell on that too much.  This instance is especially traumatic for me because his life was ended in, what I feel, is a brutal way (hanging).  I am glad, however, others who suffered at the hands of Hussein and his regime do feel justified and relieved that he can no longer hurt anyone.

Former U.S. President Gerald Ford also died last week.  I have also been watching the coverage of highlighting his life and accomplishments, as well as his state funeral.  I appreciate Mr. Ford's service to this (my) country, and I am sorry that he is gone.  May Gerald Ford rest in peace, and his family be comforted during their times of grief.  God bless.

Now that I've gotten all that off my chest, I am going to go lay down and fall asleep watching the coverage of Former U.S. President Gerald Ford's state funeral- what a magnificent display of respect.

Something to Think About

“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”
