Feeling Chillin'
The Deaths of Gerald Ford and Saddam Hussein
Ever since watching all the live coverage (and videos) of Saddam Hussein's execution over the weekend, I have been unable to sleep for more than three hours. Although I do realize Hussein was an evil man who ordered and participated in horrible acts upon mankind, I KNEW I would have a hard time dealing with his execution. (WHY oh WHY did I watch the coverage?) The death of another human being is always so sad to me, and I dwell on that too much. This instance is especially traumatic for me because his life was ended in, what I feel, is a brutal way (hanging). I am glad, however, others who suffered at the hands of Hussein and his regime do feel justified and relieved that he can no longer hurt anyone.
Former U.S. President Gerald Ford also died last week. I have also been watching the coverage of highlighting his life and accomplishments, as well as his state funeral. I appreciate Mr. Ford's service to this (my) country, and I am sorry that he is gone. May Gerald Ford rest in peace, and his family be comforted during their times of grief. God bless.
Now that I've gotten all that off my chest, I am going to go lay down and fall asleep watching the coverage of Former U.S. President Gerald Ford's state funeral- what a magnificent display of respect.
