Feeling Happy

Tracy and Angelique Come to Visit

"Captain! Captain!, where are you?" Janet called as she walked through the house. "I must talk to you. Would you please come to the office. It is very important."
She contiuned looking and calling but he was no where to be found. So she got herself a cup of coffee and opened the doors to her office. Putting her coffee down on her desk she walked over to the french doors and opened them up. It was such a beautiful day and the wind was soft on her face. She closed her eyes and let the breeze gently circle as the bright sunlight warmed her skin.
When the Captain appeared he saw her standing by the doors with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. "Ahh, lass yer such a beauty standing there with the soft breeze flowing through your blonde hair making it ripple like waves," He thought as he just stood quietly and watched and let her enjoy the moment.
She gasped when she finally turned around and saw the Captain standing there with a big grin on his face."Oh, you startled me," she said as she walked and set down by her desk. the Captain set down on the chair opposite her and crossed his legs, folding his arms across his broad chest. "Well lass, I wasnae in the house when ye started yelling fer me. I was in the gardens enjoying the early morning sitting on the chair ye have placed out there and twas reading the morning paper. What is so important that ye were yelling so?"
She smiled at him. Oh, how she loved his Scottish brough and his way of speaking. He sat there smiling at her as if he knew what was going through her mind. She caught herself and stop staring and with a slight cough began to speak. " Well Captain McCain, I will be having two very nice people coming to visit me today and I would appreciate it very much if you didn't scare them half to death. It is my sister Tracy and my niece Angelique. I invited them to come and spend a few days with me before the summer ends. I had written them and told them all about Cutters Cove and asked them to spend some time here. Tracy works so hard and needs the time to relax and of course her beautiful daughter will be coming with her. They get along so wonderfully and both are very dear to me. Will you promise to behave? Tracy is very sensitive and she might feel your presence and like me she is not afraid of things out of the norm."
"Ah, lass, I can see that these two women mean alot to you, so I will be on my best behavior. Just tell them nae to go into the den. I have to have one place that I can call me own while they are here. I will try not to appear when they are around. Now, ye promise me tis only for a few days, aye?"
"Yes, yes, geez, you hate to have people come into your home, but I must have my family come to visit at least once in awhile. I don't get to see them often enough."
"When will they be arrriving lass? I want to look my best." He laughed at her as she put her arms across her chest and glared at him.
"Don't you dare make things move and appear and scare them half to death, or--or--I will--well , I don't know what I will do but I will think of something." The Captain gave her a wink and a bow as he got up and walked over to the desk. Still with that enticing smile still on his face he leaned over and kissed her gently on the lips, whispering that it will be a few days until he will be able to do that again. Janet could feel the shiver all down her back as she watched him walk to the french doors and disappear.
Settling down to read her mail, she sipped her coffee and wrote a few emails to her editor and answered some from her friends too. Now that she had met her deadline for the trilogly she had written about he Captain's adventures on the high seas, she could relax and enjoy these last days of summer.
Tracy and Angelique were chatting happily as they drove the last mile to Cutters Cove. They both had looked forward to this mini-vacation since they received the letter from Tracy's sister. They both had read so much about this beautiful place in their correspondence with Janet. Words could not express the pure joy they both felt as they drove through the small bustling town. As they reached the top of the hill they could see Cutters Cove with all the boats at dock."Oh, this is going to be a wonderful vacation," Tracy said, They looked at each other and smiled. Parking their car under the carport as Janet hadinstructed them to do, they quickly got their luggage out of the trunk and walked up to the massive front door as it was flung open and Janet rushed out and threw her arms around them both. Laughing and hugging they all entered the house and dropped the luggage by the door. Janet had seen them drive up and just couldn't wait for them to knock on the door. Talking and taking them both by their hands she led them to the aclove were she had set up her luncheon dishes for tea and sandwiches. She knew they would be hungry after their long drive. Telling them to make themselves comfortable she went into the kitchen and got the tea and the prepared sandwiches and joined them for a leisurely lunch.
(Look how happy she is sitting there like the lady of the house with her sister and niece. Laughing and smiling and all of them talking at once. How do women do that? Nae, they never stop for a breath yet they know what each is talking about and can answer each in turn. It boggles me mind. I will keep my promise and retreat to the den and start to write some notes that the lass asked me to do so that she could use them for her next book about the Sea Captain. )
She could feel his presence as she sat and listened to her sister and niece tell her all the news from home. Tracy looked around once or twice. I wonder if she feels something too. It was amazing the feeling she got when he was around even if he didn't appear. Janet knew he was watching them and then as suddenly as she felt him there, he and the feeling were both gone. She smiled and looked at tracy as she bumped her on the arm saying, "Hey, come back from wherever you were. You are daydreaming as Angelique and I were telling you about uncle Joe and his family."
Janet took them upstairs to their room so that they could freshen up, she went back down to the kitchen to check on the roast that she was making for the them tonight.
Tracy and Angelique looked in awe at the bedroom they had been given to stay for the few days they would be here. The four poster twin beds had silk drapes that were hung so beautifully over the frame of the beds. A soft lavender with a darker shade along the hemlines. Chairs upholstered in flowers of gold thread and brown trim. As they both looked they could see the many antiques scattered around. In onecorner there was a large table were three beautiful dolls sat. Gently picking up a doll dressed in clothes from days of old, Tracy was enthralled at its beauty. Calling to Angelique to come and see Travy put the doll down and picked up another. Everything in this room is priceliess, she thought. Oh, Janet was so lucky to find this house filled with treasures. They both bathed and changed into something more comfortable. Angelique told her mom that she was going for a walk into town and see all those cute shops they passed on the way here. Tracy decided to stay and look at some of the rooms that were on this floor. After all, Janet had told her to make herself at home and she just had to see what else there was in the other rooms.
Opening the dorr next to there room, Tracy could not believe her eyes. this must be the master bedroom, Janets room. She stood in the doorway and shaking her head in excitement she slowly looked around the beautifully decorated room. She didn't enter as she believed it to be her sister's room and she didn't want to appear as if she was snooping. Although she was sure her sister would not mind. She slowly closed the door and walked down the hall. There was a room at the end of the hall that had too ornately decorated doors that caught her eye. She walked toward them. As she drew nearer, she started to feel something. An awareness of something she could not quite put her finger on, but knew that there was something special about that room. Quietly and slowly she opened the door and crept in and found that all the lights were on. How strange, no one seemed to be in the room. It appeared to be a den. One that was decorated in a masculine taste. Book shelves ran around the room to the ceiling and a ladder was attached to the top of the shelves so that you could go to the top to reach your book. Again it felt like a feather touched her. She looked around and touched her arm were she had felt the tingle as she continued to look around the room.
(There, now look what the lass has let happen. she nae told them not to go into the den. I should have locked the door. This lass almost caught me as I sat here writing notes on the pad Janet gave to me with that new fangled instrument she called a "pen". I much more prefer me own pen and ink but alas, the ink has dried after so many years idle. I must ask the lass to get me some more ink. I am sure they must still have plain bottles of ink around. I had to disappear so quickly that I left the pad and "pen" out on the desk and couldnae turn the lights off. I hope the lass nae notices them, for she will wonder who is using them. I touched her arm. She stopped and used her hand to feel the place I had touched her. Janet was right, her sister is sensitive. I wonder. Do I dare?

Feeling Quiet
The Dream--Or Was It???
My days have all melded into one as I sit here embrossed in my newest novel. I have only one more day to finish it and send it out to my publisher if I want to meet my deadline date. Is it day or night? I don't know for I have been here writing what seems like forever, but when the story plays itself in your mind you dare not stop.
"The lass is still at her machine typing away. I dare not intrude again, as I had the day before and upset her. Frantic she is to finish this novel on "The Shores of Cutters Cove". I have secretly been reading it when ever she leaves to go and freshen up. Tis a good solid work she has done. One that she can be proud of. I shall just slip away and leave her to her work."
She could feel his presence in the room, but didn't acknowledge that he was there. This novel had to be finished and then she could relax again. Until that time all niceities had to be put aside.
After many hours of hard work, it was finally done. She put the manuscript in a Fedx Special Delivery envelope and set it on her desk so that when they came tomorrow to pick it up she would know were she left it.
Tired, so very tired and all her muscles aching from the long stretches at her computer, she got up and stretched her aching body. She was tired but happy. Her manuscript was done and she was pleased with its outcome. A lovely story about Cutters Cove. A love story of course. That was her trademark writing love novels.
Yawning as she climbed the stairs to bed, thoughts of another write was already forming in her mind. She undressed, putting her silk nightgouwn on slipped into her bed. She no sooner laid her head down that she fell into a deep sleep.
" Ahh, the lass is finally done with her work and is in her bed," the captain thought as he approached her. "Such a sweet angelic face she has, those blue eyes hiding behind long dark lashes." " Long curly hair trailing down upon the blanket." "So many good qualites the lass has, a bright, generous, warm, and loving open heart. All of these qualities were inbedded in her heart and soul." He sighed, as he looked at her as she slumbered.
Silently he brushed a kiss on her forehead and gently stroked her hair. "Ahh, lass, what I wouldn't do to be with you. Lying in your embrace and holding you close to my heart."
A tenderness came over him and feelings that he hadn't thought he could everhave again overwhelmed him. He had been in this house a very long time and hadn't let anyone take what was his. This house was his santuary and his only possession left in this world.
Gently he laid down on top of the blanket and stroked her hair. Whispering in her ear in Gaelic, words that he hadn't said in centuries. He could feel her sweet breath as he gazed at her. Overwheming emotions churned inside of him and drew him closer to her side. She sighed quietly in her sleep and he put his arm around her and kissed her hair. There were yellow roses in a vase on the nightstand and he reached over and got one. Gently he stroked her face with the soft petals and down her left arm . She sighed again and hugged her pillow tighter. He smiled because she was reacting to his touch. He put his fingers in her lovely hair and drew them through to the very ends. Lifting it up to his lips, gently kissed the strands as he held her with the other hand. Oh to love a women like this. Young and virbrant, strong yet gentle. A tiny bit of heaven was right there lying in her bed. It was time to leave and let her get her rest.
Something awaken her and she set up. She had the most lovely dream. The captain was there in her room, lying next to her in her bed. She looked around and saw no sign of anyone. Sighing , she said out loud, "It was only a dream, a lovely dream." Then she turned her head and saw the yellow rose on the pillow next to her. Crossing her arms over her chest, she smiled. If this was only a dream, why did she feel so warm and who had put that yellow rose on the other pillow? With a smile on her face, she laid back down and hoped that the dream would come back, or if the captain would come back.

Christmas at Home at last!!

I have just returned from the longest trip I have ever taken advertising my newest book that has just been released for the Christmas season. Traveling throughout the United States and then a trip to Europe, where I have just begun to have my books published by an English publishing house.
Can't wait until this plane lands and I can get a cab and go home. I miss my beautiful Cove and I have missed my Captain too. There wasn't a day that went by that I didn't think of him and wish that he was with me. All the places I have been were beautiful to visit and I was happy to be taken on tours of the states and countries I visited, but it would have been so much nicer had he been with me.
Finally, I am in the cab and on my way home. I have asked the woman that comes in to clean if she had the time to put up the Christmas tree so that it would be a cheerful place when I got there. I can see the lights around the house are lit up and in the front yard the Christmas tree is trimmed with colorful lights too. It looks wonderful and I am so glad to be home again .
"Well, tis about time the lass has come back home," the Captain thought as he looked out of the window and saw her getting out of the cab. "I dindna like that woman coming in the house and cleaning up. I had to keep myself hidden from her and be quiet, although it had crossed my mind to have a bit of fun and move a few things around here and there."
Opening the door she could smell the fresh scent of pine needles and she walked into the living area and there was the most beautiful Christmas tree she had ever seen. Oh, she was so glad that she had asked her cleaning lady to put it up. She was just too tired to do it herself.
She put down her suitcase by the stairs and went into the office. Everything was as she had left it and she sighed a sigh of relief. Her cleaning lady had a tendency to clean her office and then she couldn't find anything.
She felt his presence before he materialized as she sat and started to put her briefcase away. She had become so sensitive to him and seemed to know when he was coming to her. He looked wonderful in his tight jeans and t-shirt. His smile radiated throughout the room. Her heart began to fill with butterflies and all the love that was in her shown on her face, as she watched him as he sat on the chair.
"Lass, I have missed you all these long months." he said. "Let us go for a walk." He rose taking her hand into his and as she came to her feet, he simply cupped the back of her neck to draw her mouth to his. Warm lips, hard body and a gentle touch. She melted in his arms. Her fingers twinged with his as she leaned in for more.
This is what she had longed for and had missed so terribly. The long lonely nights she had sat in a hotel room by herself thinking of home and the Captain. "Would there be a time she could actually make love with this magnificient man?" she thought as she was swept away with his kisses.

Carrie Stumbles on the Captain
Carrie came back from the beach all happy and sunburned. Ouch! I thought as she rushed into my office where I was still editing my newest book. She hadn't realized just how much sun she had gotten, but later tonight I knew I would be giving her some aloe for that sunburn.
As I sat there she chattered about all the people she had met and that this one young man had come and sat with her and told her all about the town. How much she loved his accent, as he was Scottish and the way that he talked with that wonderful brouge that only the Scots have.
I sat back and smiled as she related all her afternoons adventures to me. There was not a chance that I was going to get any more work done until she left the room. So I just smiled and enjoyed her stories. I suddenly realized that this was her first time out of New York City. All of this , the Mansion, the cove were like a new adventure for her.
Finally when she came up for air, I suggested that she better get the bottle of aloe out of the refrigerator and put it on her skin after she showered because it would help heal and cool down that burn that I could see was getting redder as the day started turning to dusk.
She left and went in the kitchen still chattering that as soon as she showered she would come down and make us both something to eat. I told her that it was not necessary but she insisted because I had given her the afternoon off and she had such a great time. So I acquiesced and turned to work some more on my manuscript.
I could hear Carrie singing as she showered and had to chuckle to myself as I pictured the Captain with his hands over his ears pacing in the den and muttering in that language of his about having that young girl in the house.
It suddenly got very quiet and I sighed as I again tackled my manuscript in what I hoped would be a few minutes of peace and quiet. But to my dismay, it was not to be. All of a sudden I heard this earth shattering scream and litterly jumped out of my seat and took off down the hall.
The den door was open and I ran in to see a totally frightened Carrie standing in the corner of the room holding her throat with her one hand and pointing to the picture above the fireplace with the other.
"What happened in here?" I asked.
"The picture, that one, over there, over the mantle, it's eyes scowled at me and it's lips moved.!" she exclaimed. Her eyes never left that picture as I tried to reasure her that she must have imagined those eyes moving and maybe the last edges of the sunlight coming in the room had tricked her into believing they really had moved.
"NO! They did move, and his eyebrows slanted down and those lips snarled, I saw it plain as day." she told me as she stared at the picture of the Captain.
After about 15 minutes of talking to her, I finally got her to leave the den and go downstairs and fix us something to eat. She backed out the door muttering to herself that it wasn't her imagination, that she really had seen something.
When she left I closed the door and looked around the room. I knew the Captain was here and so I called out to him to show himself.
He materialized behind me laughing in that deep voice of his as he swung his head back making that long hair of his swirl around.
"Gosh! I thought to myself. "He is one handsome man."
How could I be mad at him for protecting his den. The only room in the house that he considered his private domain. I had told Carrie not to go into the den, but like all curious young people , I guess the curiosity just got the better of her.
I put on my sternest face and planted my hands on my hips and waited until he stopped laughing. He watched me and it didn't faze him one bit that I was aggitated with what he had done to my assistant. In fact, I think he rather enjoyed seeing me a bit ticked off.
"Why did you go into that picture and nearly scare the life out of that young sweet girl?" I angerily asked him.
"She snuck in here when ye told her nae to do that, so I thought to teach the lass naer to do that again. I waited till she had walked around a bit and then I coughed and she jumped up startled like a young doe. She looked at my picture and I wiggled my eyebrows and scowled at her with my eyes and lips . Then I smiled at her and that is when she screamed. It was all I could do not to burst out in a full belly laugh. Ye should have seen the look on her face at that moment."
I bit my lip so that I would not smile and tried very hard to continue to glare at the Captain so that he would not see any amusment in my face or eyes. It was rather funny, and she did deserve being scared as I has specifically told her the den was off limits to her.
The Captain walked over to me with that sparkle in his eyes and bent down to look into mine.
"Ahh,Lass, Yer not angery at me now, are ye?" he said with a sad look on his face.
I knew that mischevious look, for I had been the victum of it many times before. He put his arms around me and gently kissed my forehead as he whispered in my ear that he was sorry but that now the lass would not be bothering him in his den anymore.
I felt shivers go up and down my body and his warm breath caressed my shoulder. He noticed that I had become less tense and he pulled me into his arms tighter. With his index finger he lifted up my chin and while I gazed into the stars of his eyes he gently kissed my lips.
Before I could say anything as I stood there with my eyes closed, he vanished, knowing that he was totally forgiven for his micheovous actions of the day.
I opened my eyes and sighed as I walked across the room and out the door into the hall. Still star struck by that wonderful and sweet kiss.
Downstairs I could hear Carrie in the kitchen and it sounded like a war was going on in there , so I decided that I better stop thinking about the Captain and get into my kitchen before she tore it all apart.

Carries Adventure
Carrie never stopped jabbering as she sat down in the chair opposite my desk. I decided that it would be a good day to take her from the house and give the poor Captain a break from her constant annoying voice, as he put it.
Telling her we were going into town for some necessary supplies seemed to brighten her up more and I quickly sent her to her room to get a sweater and what ever else she wanted to bring with her to town. I went and got my purse and car keys and when she came downstairs hustled her out of the door.
The day was glorious and the cove was filled with boats coming and going in and out of port. Carrie sat in amazement as she looked all around and for once seemed tongue tied. I knew how beautiful this cove was, but I could see that she was beginning to understand how I could leave NYC and live here in this quaint setting.
All the towns people waved and said hello as we wandered from store to store and Carrie seemed generally happy looking over all the home made jellies and jams, and other crafts that the local people contributed to the area. I saw that she had quite alot of things in her hands as she went to check out and I was pleased that I had thought of taking her here today. Not only did the Captain need the reprieve, but I needed to get supplies and a chance to unwind from the hectic three weeks in the city.
On our way back to the house I swung by the cove and let Carrie see all the boats and the beautiful beach. I told her that there were steps to the beach from my home and that maybe she would enjoy going and relaxing there sometime. She seemed to just glow as the wind whipped her long hair around as I sped home. I looked at her and she brought back memories of me in my youth. Full of enthusium and hope. She really was a sweet girl, just over zealous at times.
Upon arriving, I noticed the curtains in my office flutter and had to smile. I knew it was the Captain and that he would be making a hasty retreat into his den so that he didn't have to hear or see Carrie. I had to smile, and even laughed. Carrie looked at me and asked what I was laughing at, and I just shook my head and said I was so glad to be home.
She helped me put all the groceries away talking the entire time. About the town and the cove and how beautiful everything was. I just smiled and continued with what I was doing and when we were done, told her that she should go and enjoy the beach on such a great day because I would be writing most of the time and there would be nothing for her to read or do while I was at work.
How excited she was as she ran to her room to change. As she was leaving she popped her head into my office and said bye and ran out the door. I turned around and watched her as she ran down the steps and disappeared from view.
When I turned back to my computer, there was the Captain scowling at me as he sat in the chair. I had to bite my tongue and hold my lips in tightly to stop myself from laughing. He looked ferocious and ready to blow. I sat there quietly and waited to see what would happen. I had learned awhile ago never to speak when I saw him in this state. He would tell me in his time what was on him mind.
He suddenly jumped up, started pacing across the floor and as he paced he muttered to himself in that language that I did not understand. I had all I could do not to burst out laughing. I have never seen him so aggitated. He turned quickly and stopped in his tracks and looked at me as to dare me to laugh at him. Putting his hands on his hips he glared and finally started to speak.
"Well, thank ye for taking that wee bit of a girl out of my hair for awhile. I dinnae know how much longer I would be able to stand her constant chattering. That wee lass never comes up for air and I never saw anyone that talked to herself in her own room. How long will she be here again? I have been cramped up in that den to avoid her but she is so noisey that her voice carries throughout the whole house."
I sat there quietly trying not to smirk or laugh. Carrie brought back memories of me when I was young and how badly I wanted to write and be someone. I felt sorry for the Captain. Except for me there was no one that came to the house and it was always quiet and peaceful. Well, he would have to get used to seeing her for the two weeks she would be my guest and as he was rambling on and on about what a nuisance it was to have her here, I sat back and thought that I would rather enjoy her for the time she was here. I had forgotten how it was to be young and full of life. Yes, Carrie and I would be ok and the Captain, well , he would have to make the best of the situation.
The Captain stopped talking when he realized that I was not listening to him, but lost in my own thoughts. I hastily cleared my throat and sat up straight and started to type on my computer. With one eye on him as he threw up his hands in the air and stomped out of my office, slaming the door. I smiled as I started to do my re-writes and thought that this would be a very good experience for him. Yes, he needed to learn patience and Carrie would test him, that was for sure.

Home Again
"Hurry, open that door. I can't hang unto these bags any longer, Carrie said. I just shook my head as I tried desperately to get the bolt lock open, I gave myself a silent reminder to have it checked as soon as possible. It had always stuck and I did mean to get it fixed, but it had slipped my mind. I had brought Carrie home with me from the signing tour because my editor wanted her to help me with the re-writes and bring it back to him when it was all done. I really didn't like the thought of her in my home, but I felt bad telling her to stay in a bed and breakfast in town when there was so much room here. Her constant chattering was giving me a headache. She was a small, studious blonde with a face of a cherub, but boy, could she talk.
All the way home in the airplane, cab and now at the door. I felt like rushing in and closing it real quick and putting my back to it so that she couldn't come in after me. But when I finally got it open I stepped aside so that she could enter before me with the suitcases.
Taking her up to the second floor I gave her a very nice room and told her to freshen up and come down whenever she felt like it and that I would be in my room for a while also unpacking and refreshing myself after the long journey.
Oh, was I happy to see my own room. There is no hotel on earth that is as comfortable as your very own bed. I swear, I have slept in almost every kind of hotel there is and never found one that completely made me comfortable.
I walked over to the sliding doors and opened them and stepped out on the veranda to look out at the cove. How I had missed this mystical and beautiful place. All of a sudden I could smell a strong musk scent in the room and I smiled. There was only one person I knew that had that wonderful scent. I turned around and before me stood the Captain. Oh, heart! Keep beating please! He seemed more gorgeoushan he had when I left three weeks ago. His smile lit up my heart as if a fire was burning inside. He walked over to me and took me in his arms and held me so tight I thought I would bust. I managed to wiggle back a bit and laughed as I looked into those swimmingdark eyes. Gently he kissed my forehead , my eyes, and holding my head with his two hands he just looked at me for what seemed like forever, before slowly lowering his head and kissing me fully on my lips. My knees got so weak I thought I would fall down if it weren't for him holding me up. Gently he stood back up and still holding me tightly whispered in my ear words I had no way of understanding what he was saying. I knew it was Gaelic for when he was with me he would often mutter words I could not understand. He stepped back finally and gave me a very stern look. I could not imagine what I had done to deserve it, but I knew he would tell me.
"Now lass, I would like to know why ye have brought that young girl into this house. Why she even talks to herself in her room. What is she doing here and how long will she be here?" He asked. I smiled, Oh, that was what was bothering him. He didn't like company in what he still considered his home. I explained to him why she had come with me and that I would be finished in a week with the re-writes and she would be gone then.
He rolled his eyes and I had to laugh. I never saw him so nervous and uncomfortable. He always appeared to be in full control of any and all situations. I don't think he had any idea what was going to happen with this girl here. He squinted his eyes at me and told me that under no circumstances was this girl to go into his study, EVER. I used my finger and crossed my heart as I held back a laugh and promised that she would not have full rein of my home and never be allowed into his study. This made him feel better because I could see he relaxed a bit.
I didn't like the idea any more than he did, but we were both stuck with my little friend who was to help me . Well, time would tell if it was a good arrangement or not.
Just as the Captain was about to say something, Carrie came bouncing into the room chattering away about taking a tour of the house. He had materialized behind her and shook his finer at me and used it to cross his heart as a reminder that I had made him a promise. I just smiled and nodded my head up and down so that he knew I understood what he meant.
Oh! Carrie! you are going to drive me crazy. Those re-writes will be done very quickly I can assure you. I promised myself.

Book Signing Tour
My agent has sent me the itinerary for the cities I will be visiting promoting my newest book. I am so glad that she takes care of all the necerssary arrangements. I really hate doing all that travel scheduling.
These will be busy and stressfull days for me because i will be in a different city each day of the tour. The Morning Show in NYC and bookstore signings all over the country. Hecitc days and dinner parties at night. The television shows are the worst for me because I get very nervous sitting on the stage with the MC and talkingl I have to keep telling myself before they introduce me "That I can do this."
I have all my suitcases packed and ready to be picked up by the cab which will be coming for me after sunset around 10pm. I have been waiting for Captain McCain to join me. We have planned to go down to the beach today and watch the sunset together because I won't be home for about three weeks. That is a long time and I will miss him and the cove very much. He strolls in the office and his smile radiates throughout the room. I can feel my heart quicken its beating and my knees get weak when he looks at me with those beautiful eyes of his. He has kaki pants on and a blue tee shirt. A gold chain with a claddah hanging around his neck. As he approaches me I realize I have been holding my breath and his smile deepens and he lets out a little laugh. He knows how he affects me. Just as I know how i affect him too.
Picking up our picnic lunch, that he has prepared, we walk hand in hand down to the beach. The water is so lovely as the waves come curling into the sandy beach. So many different colors of blue blending as you look out inot the ocean. How wonderful all of this is and how much I will miss my home. We sit down on the blanket that the Captain has spread out on the sand and begin to take out the picnic dinner as we enjoy the scenery around us. We haven't said much, but then it seems that we really don't have to always be talking. We converse with our bodies more I think. Our eyes are like windows into our hearts and souls and we just seem to know that words are not necessary sometimes.
Sitting down together and eating our meal, we look out as the ocean as the sun turns the sky into a glorious red color and watch as it slowly sinks into the water. It is so hard to discribe the full beauty of nature. There are so many things that all come into play to ake this scene that only the Creator is capable of making.
Standing up, he offers me his hands and I grasp them and come into his arms. He pulls me gently into his embrace and with his warm breath he whispers into my ear how much he will miss me and that he will be thinking of me every day and night. I look up into those bright eyes ofhis and lean forward to kiss his moist lips. Encircling me with his arms he pulls me in tighter and closer and returns my kiss a hundred fold. We are lost in each other and the day slowly truns into the dark of night. How I hate leaving him. I wish he could come with me and then I wouldn't have such a heavy heart. He gently lets me go and reaches down for the picnic basket and blanket and says that it it time to go back to the house because the taxi will be coming soon to pick me up. I should be so happy that my new book is all done and already selling like hot cakes, but inside my heart there is an empty spot that only can be filled by the Captain.
Entering the house and putting everything away, I don't know how to begin to tell him how I feel and how much I will miss him. He senses my discomfort and turns and without saying a word, just takes me into his arms and holds me tightly. I wish I could stand here in his arms for eternity, but then the door bell rings and I know it is time for me to leave. The door bell rings again but the Captain still holds me in his arms and I look up at him to say that it is probably the taxi, when he puts his finger on my lips and says,"Shhhh, he will wait. I just want to hold you a few minutes more." Leaning over he takes my face in his hands and tenderly kisses me once and then deepens the kiss until I am totally lost in his embrace.
Now the man at the door is becoming impatient and rings the bell once, then twice. We break away from each other and I turn to walk to the door to let him in to get my luggage. When I look back, the Captain has gone. He is nowhere to be seen.
My bags are loaded into the trunk and I take one last look at the mansion. Up on the veranda stands the Captain, smiling and waving at me. No sound comes from his mouth, but I can hear him saying, "Hurry back my love, Iam lonely here without you."
As the taxi pulls away, I look out the back window and watch the Captain until we are to far for me to see him. I can feel a knot in my stomach, I miss him so much already and I haven't even gotten to the airport yet. This will be the longest three weeks of my life.

Spring has finally come to Maine!!
It has been a long winter here in Maine. The winds and cold have finally calmed down and spring seems to be in the air. Today I opened the office glass doors and walked out on the veranda to view the brave souls that had taken their boats out in the bay to feel the fresh spring air.
The Captain and I have had an enjoyable winter getting to know each other and he has helped me so much with the book that I am writing on him and his adventures. We have spent many happy hours just sitting by the fire in the den and talking and I find myself falling very deeply in love with this wonderful loving man. I can tell that he has strong feelings for me too. I don't know what will ever become of this relationship, but I have decided to live one day at a time and let the future be what it may. I will not leave him and hope he will be here with me for as long as I am able to have him.
Daydreaming with my arms wrapped around my chest for warmth, I didn't notice him come behind me on the veranda. He took his jacket off and put around my shoulders and wrapped his arms around me as he gently kissed me on my head. I feel so at peace and so much happy in his arms.
We just stood there and watch the few brave sailors taking their boats out for a day of fishing and some just to cruise on the water. I could stay in his arms for the rest of my life. Just the two of us, here in this house.

Tis the Season
There has been so much to do that I have been running constantly. The shopping and cleaning have me almost worn out. I have invited some of my best friends to come to the mansion to spend Christmas Eve with me. Most of them have families and so on Christmas day, they are all with their loved ones. I only have a few relatives, and we are so scattered around that we really don't see each other that often. Everyone has a family but me. I am the only one not married, and I really feel out of place at their homes. They are all happy and hugging and kissing one another, that it tugs at my heart that I have no one to do this with. So I just as soon stay in my own home. Go to Mass and worship the birth of Jesus and then come home and spend a quiet Christmas all by myself.
I have purchased a hugh Christmas tree that will be delivered today sometime and I have purchased all the decorations for the tree and holly and some very beautiful flowers to be put around in the different rooms. I have decided to put the tree in the large living room by the big bay window, and I have a few men coming to string lights all around the house too. I want this first Christmas in my new home to be a memorial one. This is my very first home and I do so love it here.
This year I won't be alone on Christmas day. I know the Captain is here and I am hoping that he will spend some time with me so I won't be so lonely. Christmas should be spent with those that you love.
Oh! the doorbell! It is the men delivering the tree. How wonderful! I can start to decorate it and put on the music I bought to play while I do this. I love decorating the tree. I love looking at all the special decorations and lights shining strung around the tree. I have saved a few special ornaments that my mom and dad gave to me when I was very young. Dad used to pick me up and tell me to put my special ornament with my name on it unto a branch on the tree. We did this until I was way to big to be picked up , but even then dad would hand me the ornament and say, "Sweetie, put it high so the little ones won't break it." Every year he said that to me. I really miss my mom and dad. Especially at this time of year. All the wonderful memories I have of Christmas spent with my dad and mom. I am lucky to have had such good parents.
I could smell the pine scent from the tree as the men set it up for me. I thanked them and they left me to my chore.
I hadn't noticed but while I was humming with the music and putting the lights on the tree that the Captain had entered the room and was standing with his hands behind his back smiling and watching me as I scooted around the tree putting on the lights. My hair was all tangled and hanging down. I must have looked silly, because he began to laugh.
"Ah Lass, Let me help ye now." He said. "Seems ye are losing that battle with those strings of lights." "Ye have them all tangled around yourself and ye might fall into that tree." His smile was wide as he walked over and started to untangle the lights from around me. He took them and strung them all around the tree with out a single word as I stepped back and watched him. I couldn't help but smile and feel wonderful as I watched this wonderful man helping me decorate my very first Christmas tree in my new home.
After he was done,he told me he would be right back, and he vanished. I don't think I will ever get used to him being able to do that. In a wink he was back and in his hands he had a box that he handed to me.
I opened it very carefully and looked inside. Then I looked up and into those beautiful dark eyes and they twinkled and smiled at me. I had never seen such beautiful ornaments in my life. They had to be hundreds of years old. Precious. I started to say that I couldn't possibly put these priceless ornaments on my tree. That what if they were broken.
He looked at me and put his finger on my lips and said, "Hush, Hush now, these are meant to be placed on a tree." "It has been many many years since they have been out." "You must put them on this tree for me." "I will help you put them up high so that they will not be broken."
When he said that I could feel my eyes start to tear and he looked at me in a loving way. I knew that he had no idea how much those words meant to me. He took my hand and walked me over to the tree and he lifted me up like I was a china doll and I put the ornaments near the top by the Christmas Angel that was on the very top. Then he slowly put me down and turned me around. I did have a tear rolling down m cheek and he looked at me and asked me what was wrong as he wiped the tear away with his finger. I told him about my dad and our tradition that we had every year until the day he died.
Gently, looking straight into my eyes with those piercing eyes of his, he pulled me close to him and wrapped those big arms around me and just held me. He held me for a long time, and kissed me on top of my head, as he said,"I know that you and your father must have been very close lass, but you have me now, now and forever."
I looked at at him as the tears slowly slid down my face. Those sweet words filled my heart with joy. He smiled and took a handkerchief out of his back pocket and wipe the tears away and then he took my face in both of his hands and tilting my head he opened him mouth slightly and kissed my lips. I wrapped my hands around his wrists and just closed my eyes. As he deepened the kiss I took my hands off of his wrists and slipped them around his waist and held him tight. He removed his hands from my face and put his arms around my shoulders and drew me toward him and tightened his hold as he deepened the kiss even more.
The whole world stopped to exist as I was lost in his embrace. I opened my mouth slightly and he answered by kissing me deeper and tightening his arms even more. Oh! God! help me! I love this man so much. What is going to happen to us? How can I possibly love a ghost? What can become of this love?
Slowly he broke the kiss and set me away from him. He stood there just looking with those piercing dark eyes of his. He didn't say a word as he picked up a box of ornaments and walked back to the tree and started putting them on. He turned once, gave me a big grin and a wink, and went back to decorating the tree.
I picked up a box of ornaments and started to put them on the tree too, humming the Christmas songs that were playing.

WINTER IN THE COVE/CAPTAIN AND I
The weather has turned colder and I can see from my bedroom window that their is a fresh blanket of snow that has fallen during the night. How beautiful the cove and surrounding area looks. A rebirth of nature and a cleansing of the earth. I have always felt this way when the first real snow comes and covers everything as far as you can see. So beautiful and restful to see.
Dressed and sitting at my desk with my third cup of coffee, I have tried to write but I just can't seem to settle into my novel. I keep looking out the veranda doors at all that beauty below and my heart is telling me to just get out of here and go . Go and walk in all that sweet smelling wonderful snow.
Behind me like a whisper the Captain appears, I am not scared. I have become very used to having him appear out of nowhere. I can tell he is near by the scent that he wears.
I turn and smile as I see this wonderful man before me. He smiles back and we both walk up to the veranda doors and he opens them and takes in a deep breath of fresh sweet smelling winter air. I look at him with so much longing it scares me sometimes.
He always knows what I am thinking. I swear he does. Because he turns to me and wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me close to him. With those dark beautiful eyes staring right into mine he lowers his head and gently kisses my forehead and tightens his hold on me. Not a word is said as we gaze out at all of the beauty before us.
"Now, Lass," he says. "Let's go and take a walk into the woods in the back and enjoy the freshness of this glorious winter day." "Now off with you , and if ye are real good, I will tell ye another tale."
We can feel the crunch of the new fallen snow as we walk hand in hand and talk and laugh. Suddenly he stops me and points over to the west. There in plain view is a doe and a buck just standing and looking at us. Neither of them moved a muscle as we stood quietly and watched them. How lovely animals look in their nature habitat. The does huge eyes looked as if she could see right through me. I whispered to the captain."Why don't they run?" He said,"Nae, They know that there is no harm coming to them from you and me." "Animals can sense danger and if they felt ill at ease they would have fled before we even had seen them."
"Now Lass, I promised you a tale." "Let me think for a second which one to tell."
I looked at this mountain of a man and asked him,"When you are on your ship and the weather turns fowl, how do you handle it?"
He simply smiled at me and said,"I've learned lass, that yae don't try to reason with an ocean current, but simply travel with it." "Ye just do what is necessary and let the currents work for ye not against ye."
"Now that tale I promised to ye." There was a time that we had pulled into port and my crew and I were at the local pub having a meal and some brew when a drunken man became very abusive to a wench at the bar. My man and I did not want to interfere, but when I saw that he was going to strike this child, I no longer could tolerate him." "I walked up very calmly and took the young lass by the hand and told her to get back to her chores." "This angered the drunken sailor and he taped me on the shoulder and said what business was it of mine to send that wench away?"
"I turned very quietly and calmly and the look in my eyes was all that that drunk needed to see." "He drank up his mug and hurried out of the door."
I was amazed and asked."All it took was one look from you to send him scurrying away without a fuss?"
That amazing smile reappeared and he said,"Aye", he said giving my shoulder a squeeze."Ya might want to keep that in mind in the future. The more furious I am, the calmer I get." He winked and gave me that mischievous smile and threw his head back and laughed.
Gosh! This mountain of a man is so magnificent! Just looking at him turns my insides to jelly. Head thrown back as he laughs his deep throated laugh with his long hair flowing in the breeze, takes my breath away.I could spend my whole day just looking at him and feeling the warmth of his hand holding mine sends tingles up and down my body.
Slowly we walked the land and talked till I became very chilled. He noticed that I was shivering and wrapped his arm around me and we headed back to the house.
Once inside he walked up to the fireplace in the office and snapped his fingers and the fireplace glowed with flames. My mouth dropped open and he laughed at me once more. Walked over and with the tip of his finger under my chin closed my mouth. Smiling he kept his finger there and gazed into my eyes. I could see myself reflected there and I was hypnoized with the sight of the flicking flames of the fire and sparkles I saw there. A slow smile spread across his face and he dipped his head down and opened his mouth slightly and kissed my lips so softly I wasn't sure he even touched them. Then he stepped back , turned and left the room. I hadn't realized that I was holding my breath and it came out in a swoosh!
I sat down by my desk and enjoyed the warmth of the room as I started to type the tale that the Captain had told me as we walked in the new fallen snow. What a wonderful feeling of peace and serenity over came me and I began to hum a song from a time when I was very young.
