Treasure find!

"One man's trash is another man's treasure"  and this time it was MY treasure!   Today in the pouring rain we were driving down our street...coming home from Target when I saw some chairs.  From what I could see they looked like nice chairs and they were just sitting on the curb in the rain.  One stacked on the other.

I said out loud...man, do you think they are throwing those out?  Michael says, "those would look nice on our deck."   Hmmmmmm.....we got to our house and went inside.  Still soaking wet from the rain we are having I pondered over the idea of going back and getting those chairs.   Michael refused to go with me...he is not the stealin' or trash diggin kind of person that I am.  LOL.

I called my friend and neighbor Ana and asked her what I should do...without hesitation she said GO GET THEM.  As I hung up the phone Gabby said "Let's go Mom, I will get them with you."   Okay...if she is willing to stand in the rain and put them in the truck for me I will do it!!!  I put the back of the truck down and we drove down the street...she jumped out and put them in the back...no easy feat.  They are kinda heavy and like I said it was POURING! I had to stay behind the wheel in case we had to make a quick get away!   I was so proud of my little trash collector!!  Grandpa might be moved to tears...lol.

As a kid my Dad used to drag me to the flea markets, garage sales and thrift stores looking for good deals and most of the time I HATED it.  But now....now I am a chip off the old block!   I looked at the chairs when we brought them inside and besides being pretty darn wet they are awesome!  A scratch here or there but I like that...gives them character!  What you do think?

Stealing them was a joke...they were set out there for trash pick-up the next day.  After they sat inside and dried I can tell they are very weather worn and need some major TLC...and I am the one that will give it to them.

They are lovely chairs. And possibly worth a bit of money by the looks of them. I suggest you find out if they are antiques and not just remakes of antiques before you "put them on the deck". They may be worth a pretty penny.
AS for possibly stealing them........ shame on you for teaching your children such lesssons! Sorry, I just cant condone that.
