Paris Parades, Inside Southcoast and Palms SuperSuites, plus the Weekend Wind-Up
We promised you Paris in the altogether -- or at least the next-to-nothings -- and here she is! Our good friend, Michael Politz -- publisher of Eye On Vegas and host of AOL Vegas' Counter Intelligence videos -- arranged for top celebrity photographer Scott M. Doctor to go along with the hotel heiress as she shopped for sexy looks, planning to wear them in her new music video shooting this week in LA. Agent Provocateur in the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace was the place for the private parade...

We can confirm this morning (Thurs. Jan. 12) that Paris is coming back into town this weekend for the grand opening celebration of the JET nightclub at the Mirage, so hopefully she'll be inspired to sport some of her new style (by the way, check out www.agentprovocateur.com for a lavish lascivious online catalog that will keep you warm all winter, including their naughty-named 'Knickers Forever' monthly magazine)! And if you see her, be sure to let her know you saw her here... Other celebs expected at the JET party on Saturday (Jan. 14) include sister Nicky Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Shannon Elizabeth, Lance Bass, Tobey Maguire, Jaime Pressly, and Damon and Shawn Wayans. Based on previous Light Group events, we also wouldn't be surprised to see Sting, Bruce Willlis, Fred Durst, David Spade, Estella Warren, Nicolette Sheridan, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore or Owen and Luke Wilson. We will of course give you the full report next week, and don't forget to check below for the remainder of Robin's royal rundown on the weekend...
We now return to our normal scheduled program! Palms hotel mogul George Maloof has officially opened his seven new supersuites in the Fantasy Tower, where they are still building the rooftop Playboy Mansion suites and club. He personally gave me a tour of the awe-inspiring accomodations, each complete with a stripper pole in the see-thru showers -- and startled me with the revolving bed in the Exotic Suite, complete with dancing model (below -- not sure if she's included with the room for everybody!). In addition to the already-opened Hardwood and Kingpin suites, the new rooms include the g-suite, a Hot Pink suite, a Director's suite, a Crib suite, Celebrity suite and more. Cindy
Margolis (with George above) Britney Spears and hubby Kevin Federline, Tommy Lee, Joey Fatone and Good Charlotte's twin brothers Joel and Benji Madden were among those also getting private tours in the last few days.
I chatted with Cindy at her party in the Hardwood basketball suite to launch the Palms Home Poker Host computer software disk, which is the casino's first-ever Palms-branded retail product. It makes setting up a home poker tournament for up to 100 people very simple and fun. There are video simulations of Palms Girls Cynthia Hasson and Brandi Williams in addition to Cindy as your at-home hosts. My longtime friend Cindy, who forever will own the Guinness Record as the most downloaded pinup on the internet joked: "I'll have that on my tombstone now that the category has been retired!" Meantime, she's very much alive and will star in the new 'Hot Moms' TV series, which she described as "'Desperate Housewives' for real!"
George also plans to open his new two-storey high-roller gaming lounge The Mint in time for Superbowl weekend, where the girls of West Hollywood's notorious Trashy Lingerie boutique will be on hand to spice up the decorations (here's Trashy TriplettesErica, Jenny and Jerusha at Ghostbar--go to www.trashygirls.com for many more peppery pics). And he's excited about his next 3 developments: a new 2,400 seat concert venue; the newly-designed and decorated lounge and rebuilt pool, complete with private bungalows that are costing $40 million; and the start of construction on his Palms condo tower (which is already 100% pre-sold). He confirms that the condos' top penthouse apartment has an open-air basketball court on the roof for visiting NBA superstars!
I also took another tour recently of the newest casino property in Vegas, the South Coast, which is now the Strip's most southern property, and thus the first motorists see coming in from California. Coast Casinos head honcho Mike Gaughan (right), who was my personal guide, admitted he bought the land four years ago because it only cost $150,000 an acre. "I could see land prices rising dramatically," he told me during dinner at the casino's new Don Vito's Italian restaurant.
"In fact, compare it with the $15.8 million I just paid for 1.7 acres of land under my Barbary Coast hotel on the Strip, and you don't have to be an accountant to instantly see what I mean."
The hotel mogul is proudest of all about the 4400-seat equestrian arena, now in the final stages of construction for its April grand opening. "We will have 1200 climate-controlled horse stalls and sufficient pens to handle 2,000 cattle," he says. Gaughan is not only planning it as the finest equestrian facility in America but is betting he'll host every major horse event in the country. He admitted that the project wound up costing $600 million -- twice what he'd originally planned on spending -- "and I've still got more than 70,000 sq.ft left to expand into!
"My wife Paula, who has been caring for our horses at my ranch for 13 years, got me into this" he explained. "When I was a kid, I used to ride horses through the desert on the other side of the valley -- and back then, that was nowhere as high-up as my Suncoast hotel now is in Summerlin. But I don't think Vegas is going to be able to expand much further south. I don't think we'll reach the next town down, Sloan. The water factor is finally going to catch up with us. We're at about 1.85 million in population now and when we reach 2.5 million I think that's the maximum our valley can handle. So although there's talk about two new hotels being built two miles south of mine before 2010, that will then be it."
Now for Robin's rich rundown of what's happening this weekend: Back in residence are Barry Manilow at the Hilton, Howie Mandel at MGM Grand, Jay Leno at the Mirage, Tower of Power at The Orleans and Paul Revere with his Raiders at the Suncoast. The sultry songstresses of En Vogue have a one-night sassy but stylish show at the Silverton on Saturday, as does Kenny Rankin at Boulder Station. Aaron Lewis of Staind performs a rare solo acoustic show Sunday night at Rain in the Palms, and 100 of the hottest Bench Warmer models will host 'Sunday School' at Body English in the Hard Rock. Monday night, another excitement-packed week of Vegas begins all over anew with the UF C Ultimate Fight Night at the Hard Rock and our own version of Oscars, Emmys and Grammys rolled into one, called The Nighties. My pal Jeff Beacher (left) will host the nightlife of Vegas awards at JET...
I'm off to glorious, gorgeous Lake Louise in the majestic Canadian Rockies for the weekend, to join a celestial clan of celebs (Alec Baldwin, Tom Arnold, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgewick, Lorraine Branco, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Brad Hall, William Baldwin and Chynna Philips) for Robert Kennedy Jr's stars invitational to benefit his environmental organization Waterkeeper Alliance. We'll showcase the candid up-close photos upon return next week.
