The Paris Hilton nightclub deal proposed for a
hotel on the famed Strip inches closer. Paris
says she wants to do it. The Pure nightclub folks have agreed to partner with
her on the project. A major resort-hotel casino wants them to join forces to
take over an existing but not-so-hot club
and turn it into a Hollywood-styled hot spot. Paris
has even walked the proposed location and inspected its every nook and cranny.
All systems go, right?
Wrong!!! Now, it’s the lawyers and the accountants and the
business managers who have to haggle out all the fine points to produce a
contract that works for all three parties. And that’s exactly where the deal
now stands. They are at work putting
together documents with dotted Is and crossed Ts – and until all the fine
points are hammered together, it’s a little bit of a waiting game. Luxe
Life will keep you well-posted!
When I chatted with Paris at Madonna’s holiday weekend party in TAO nightclub at The Venetian,, she told me that both her new single and the hot accompanying video will be released on Friday as the advance tease to her debut CD coming in August.
The debut songs are titled 'Screwed' and 'Stars are Blind' -- which is a reggae number. Said Paris: "The entire album has a lot of different sounds on it. I like all music. So there's a mix of pop, hip-hop and reggae. It’s not like I only like pop or rock. There will be something for everybody.’’
Paris says she wrote the lyrics to seven of the album tracks. "I've known I always had a voice and could sing, but I was too shy to let it come out. Singing in front of people is the hardest thing. When I finally let go and did it, I realized it’s what I love the most and am most talented at.’’
Paris has formed her own label Heiress Records for the Warner distribution deal. After Madonna left her TAO party with husband, Guy Ritchie, Paris marched upstairs to the TAO nightclub and gave DJ Reach an advance copy of the CD and performed "Screwed" -- and her cover version of Rod Stewart's hit "Do You Think I'm Sexy." The crowd went wild and ballistic with unadulterated fan-frenzy worship as she sang and then danced in the lineup of the TAO go-go girls!
MORE MADONNA SPY CAM
Our Luxe Life journal yesterday featured
the “inside” details of Madonna’s private TAO party, that followed her
concerts at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. We
had sneaky spy-cam fotos and the ‘tale of the tape’ -- she had an engineering
team seal all the air-conditioning vents with. No sooner had we published
than more spy-cam photos and juicy Madonna news came in. So as we sort through
it all here’s a new ‘Queen of the Dance Floor’ photo of the star wearing
her Kabbalah bracelet.
Turns out TAO wasn’t the only place her a/c ban went into effect. Apparently she ordered all the air-conditioners shutdown at the concert venue, even though the audience muttered about the warmth. Good job it was desert-cool temperatures at the weekend instead of our normal 90+ degrees-heat because otherwise, it would have been truly ‘madge-miserable’ to match the monthly warning she issued before curtain up!!
MILLIONAIRE MOGULS
Want to collect million$ every year in your paycheck? It’s
looking more and more as if the best
place to do that is right here as a
casino –resort hotel executive. Our local ‘In Business’ newspaper , a sister
publication to our partners at VEGAS.com, will publish on Friday, the list of
highest-paid honchos. The pay, the perks, the privileges are platinum-priceless,
but according to Wall Street insiders, fully justified because of the amazing
profits each officer makes for shareholders. Hold onto your seatbelts folks
because this is beautifully mind-blowing and closing in on $1 million per
week!!!
Frank Fertitta, CEO of Station Casinos, who
recently opened the new Red Rock earned
$42.8 million in 2005 putting him
for the 2nd consecutive year in the #1 spot
Bobby Baldwin, president of MGM’s
Mirage resorts and charged with developing the new Project
City Center,
placed 2nd with $38.1 million
Bill Boyd, CEO of his Boyd Gaming Corp nailed the 3rd slot with $37.9 million
Terry Lanni, MGM's CEO earned $30.7 million for the 4th
position.
Strip moguls such as Steve Wynn, The Venetian’s Sheldon Adelson and Harrah’s chief, Gary Loveman, are all up there too in the top 20, but their annual and exercised stock-option packages change the rankings annually.
The hefty pay-packages are all directly related to booming profits and future hotel expansion plans- and because we’re attracting more tourists and convention visitors than ever before. In April, we nearly hit 3.9 million plane passengers through the McCarran Int’l Airport -- a near 5% increase over a year ago and right behind the magic four million we hit for the first time ever in March. This year, the first four months alone showed a record 14,755,745 passengers. If we keep on like this, those weekly salary checks will be even larger next year!!!
ROCK LEGENDS
One should have known by the color of the carpet that ‘VH1
Rock Honors’ was going gothic, or at least dark. The carpet was neither
red, orange or green. It was simply black and on it marched the influential
legends of the hard rock sounds: Judas Priest, Def Leppard, KISS and a rare
appearance by the original members of Queen.
It was the pop-music network’s first ever show paying homage to hard
rockers. Gorgeous Jaime Pressley, from ‘My Name Is Earl,’ hosted along with sexy
Gina Gershon and Natasha Hedstridge adding to the glamour night at Mandalay
Bay. My friend Vince Neil, and his
wife Leah, were on hand with the Foo Fighters, Rob Zombie, Whitestar and adult
actress Tera Patrick. ‘VH1 Rock Honors" concert airs tonight at 9PM on VH1.
STRIP SCRIBBLES
Hot on the heels of their award at the Statue of Liberty in New York, Siegfried & Roy will now be honored this fall on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. Their star will be installed outside of the Mirage resort where they performed for years until the Oct. 3, 2003 show when Roy was severely injured by his white tiger, Montecore. I’ll join the illusionists this Friday on a highly emotional return to their former theater for the opening preview night of the new Beatles 'LOVE' musical. ...
Meantime today, 'Legends in Concert' (it's been running for 24 years and nearing its 5 millionth audience-goer) creator and founder John Stuart, who is widely
hailed as the father of the worldwide
impersonation show empire, gets his own star on the Walk of Stars outside New York-New York to mark the wrap-up of the Celebrity
Impersonators Convention, so you’re guaranteed the doubles of everybody from
Paris, Cher, Anna Nicole and the Blues Brothers (his revival shows play in House
of Blues venues around America which he
produces for Dan Akyroyd and Judy Belushi) will be on hand.
TONIGHTS TIP, WEDNESDAY MAY 31
Tune into A&E from 10-11PM when my friend, magic-maestro Criss Angel (click here for Luxe Life coverage) debuts of his second season from the Aladdin when he will float from one building to another, above the Strip – and then vanish one of the spectators!… Wayne Newton, Lance Burton, Tony Curtis, Toni Braxton, Barry Manilow, Norm Crosby and yours truly will be at our show-business industry’s Variety International children’s charity ‘’Humanitarian of the Year’’ awards dinner at Bally’s saluting William Austin for his generous gift of 150,000 free hearing aids to deaf children…..and it’s the official media-night opening of the hot 'Bareback' country-strip show at Harrah’s. I’m told the temperature rises even beyond air-conditioning combat when a buxom dancer is undressed by four bare-chested men as she writhes a mechanical bull!!
