84-HOURS OF RECORD-BREAKING RECORD SPINNING
DJ Robert Oleysyck is about to go where no man, or woman, has gone before. At 10AM today he will step into a state of the art, self-contained booth that has been set up under the large Palms resort hotel marquee and attempt to break a world record. He hopes his quest for the “World’s Longest DJ Set” will go right into the Guinness Book of World Records. The DJ environment has been constructed so that fans, cheerleaders and whoever wishes can see him during the endurance trial. Robert has to play records for more than 84-hours straight without a break to win the challenge. For those keeping score here are the facts: at 9PM on Saturday he will begin the last hour of the battle and at 10PM it will become an official record-buster with Robert hoping to go one extra hour and clinch the record for a long time to come. I am reliably told that very large quantities of Red Bull will be available to him. Coffee anyone? – or is that too passé in today’s club world?
More Palms news: It’s highly likely that Howard Stern will
be bringing his new satellite radio show to the hip-hot resort. Comedian Artie
Lange, who is Howard’s funny sidekick, got a royal tour of the new Fantasy
Suites from owner George Maloof (file photo) himself and Artie told him they’d like to do a
weeklong August run. This is not really a secret since Arte has been praising
the Palms all-weeklong on the show! Meantime, George has gotten into the iPod
concert music business. He’s just recorded the Wolfmother rock group at the
Palms lounge specifically for podcasting. It’s his first entry into the new
audio-medium and says he’ll do many more if the debut is successful. Luxe
Life will give you the download details the moment the rockconcert
is released.
CHEFLIVE IN YOUR KITCHEN

Yours truly with Luciano Pelligrini from Valentino's at the Venetian
A new interactive creative cooking series running anytime-you-want on the worldwide Internet has been launched from Vegas. Cheflive pairs our Vegas star chefs with Vegas personalities and entertainers. I was teamed with my friend, Chef Luciano Pelligrini, from Valentino’s at the Venetian for porcini pasta and porcini salad. (click here for our AOL Video tour of the restaurant with Luciano).
Other chefs include my friends Terence Fong of Chinois, Jacques van Staden of Alize, Carlos Guia of Commanders Palace, Peter Sherlock of Le Cordon Bleu and among the stars, the day we taped was someone that looked an awfully lot like Elvis Presley, plus members of the Scintas, The Rat Pack, the Second City comedy troupe, Rio ventriloquist Ronn Lucas and Cirque du Soleil’s Ray Wold from ‘O.’ Each show runs about 156-minutes and can bed viewed at www.cheflive.com -- so if unexpected guests drop in at the last minute or you’re throwing an informal dinner party and want a chef and a celebrity in your kitchen just log on for the 15-minute menu of your choice. It’s sort of like the Food Network that I helped start back in the mid ‘90s but here, you get to pick your recipe and your chef-instructor.

Terenece Fong from Chinois and the Scintas
If you are a Vegas visitor I encourage you to go downtown to the Holsum Lofts on Charleston where we filmed as it has been totally converted into art galleries, potter’s studios, a TV complex, cooking classrooms and other artisan hideaways – it’s a little slice of Greenwich Village art or the Santa Barbara artists colony right here in the heart of old Vegas.

Peter Sherlock from Le Cordon Bleau and the Rat Pack
Incidentally, another one of our favorite chef friends, Daniel Boulud, has started his own late-night TV series ‘After Hours with Daniel.’ Although, he has his local French restaurant outpost at the Wynn, for now the TV show is HQ’d in Manhattan, where he chats with Manhattan chefs, taste-makers and other culinary charms at different Big Apple restaurants once weekly. You’ll find it on your local InDemand cable channel. He tells me Vegas will be his next TV stop!
SEXY SIGHTINGS
Model sensation Ally Landry, who jump-started the hearts of American boys when she first hit national stardom with her Doritos chips commercials, was the smash attraction at Pure nightclub in Caesars Palace when she was the headline attraction of a Kenneth Cole fashion show last night. Now, after being engaged to Mario Lopez, she's settled down into marital bliss with handsome husband, Alejandro -- and probably broken all the hearts of American boys who fell in love with her. Ally stayed until 2:30AM.dancing in the VIP stage area.

Also there last night, ‘La Femme Nikita’ TV star, Peta Wilson, who has arrived in town for Friday's IMAX premiere of her ‘Superman Returns’ movie at Brenden Theaters in The Palms. She arrived at 11PM with a group of friends from Australia to show them the Pussycat Dolls show before moving into the main nightclub for dancing.
MARATHON MARRIAGES
And yet another “only in Vegas” story. When we held the very first Las Vegas Marathon on a very chilly morning last December, couples either got married or renewed their vows at the Run Thru Wedding Chapel set up at the Very Special Memory Wedding Chapel at mile 5. This year, with still six months to go, 30 couples have already signed up for the unique “jog down the aisle” and the first newlyweds to cross the 26.2 mile finish line will win an Air Tahiti and Tahiti Tourism honeymoon package in the sensational South Seas. I MC’d the Mandalay Bay press conference to introduce the first couple signed up for the event: Jason Thomas and Kimberly Engel (pictured below) from Savanna, Georgia. The "Running Reverend," Bill Petersen who has performed over 25,000 Vegas weddings, will deliver the vows of holy matrimony.

We’re expecting well over 20,000 runners in total -- a significant increase from last year’s 10,000! Already entrants as far away as Britain, Japan and Korea have signed up to participate on December 10.
STRIP SCRIBBLES
Weeks ago, Luxe Life revealed Anthony Michael Hall’s plans for his own new movie ‘Life and Death in Vegas’ to film here this winter. Now he’s saying that he wants Wayne Newton and Paris Hilton to star in it. … Kevin Spacey might also be filming and producing a script here about card-counting college students from MIT who set out to rip-off Vegas table-games. … Sean Penn has written and is now directing “Into the Wild” and he had to cast extras from one of our homeless shelters for three days of downtown filming. … Grammy award winner, Norah Jones, makes her movie debut in ‘My Blueberry Nights,’ a cross-country quest for love which has been filming at locations around Vegas.
TONIGHTS TIP
Vegas Mob Tours has a "Relive Sin City's Dark Past." A two-and-a-half hour bus tour from the Greek Isles Casino that reveals it’s underbelly past history. Founder Robert Allen says: "People are fascinated by the celebrities, the casinos, the mob and all that's synonymous with this town."
Allen says he based his tour on the stories found in the popular book, ‘The Battle for Las Vegas’ written by author Dennis Griffin and personal interviews with Dennis Arnold, former FBI chief investigator. The experience begins with tales about the mob's connection with visits to the sites where murders, strange disappearances and mob activity occurred. Tour guides are dressed in pinstriped suits and fedoras and spill the truth about notorious gangsters such as casino builder Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, Tony "The Ant" Spiloto and Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal. One tour highlight is a visit to the crime scene where rap mogul, Tupac Shakur, was gunned down If you are looking for something different, the Vegas Mob Tour provides a spine tingling look into the dark and mysterious side of the Neon City!
