VEGAS VIP: How to Be a Vegas VIP With Jack Colton -- LUXE LIFE GUEST COLUMNIST

For today’s guest column, Luxe Life is fortunate to have two of  Robin’s friends give their takes on the Vegas VIP lifestyle. Here, Vegas VIP and B-List Internet Celebrity Jack Colton shares practical, inside advice on how to skip the three-hour line at a nightclub and be a true Vegas VIP. Then, read Celebrity Stylist Michael Boychuck's take on Vegas glam.

VEGAS VIP PART II: THE VIPs’ VIP

HOW TO BE A TRUE “VIP” IN LAS VEGAS
By Jack Colton

Being considered a “VIP” in a Las Vegas nightclub means something entirely different to almost anyone looking to feel like they are more important than the average person. While some will leave with stars in their eyes if a street promoter handed them a pass allowing them to skip the line, most won’t settle for anything less than a night filled with limousines, beautiful women, and at least more than one bottle of expensive liquor served at a private booth at one of the top nightclubs that Las Vegas has to offer.

Celebrity VIP status is a whole different story. Madonna reportedly demanded that Tao tape up all of the air ducts at her after party so that the air conditioning wouldn’t damage her voice in any way. Paris Hilton refuses to walk around the club unless she is flanked by at least 3 large security guards. Stars like Ashlee Simpson, Denise Richards and Carmen Electra will often rake in six figure paychecks just to show up and have their picture taken partying inside Las Vegas mega clubs. Regardless of who you are, or how much of the coveted VIP lifestyle you are looking to obtain, Las Vegas is a city where anyone can live a lifestyle fit only for royalty aslong as they know what they are doing anddon’t mind spending a little extra money to get it.

Do Your Research and Ignore Advertisements
There are plenty of places in Las Vegas that a true VIP wouldn’t be caught dead being seen inside, and all too often these are the nightclubs that will spend the most money trying to convince you that their venue is the hottest celebrity-filled nightlife spot on the planet. While reading about special events going on around town is a great way to make sure that you aren’t going to miss out on an internationally known DJ or clothing line launch party, keep in mind that just because a magazine or flyer “says” somewhere is the place to be - doesn’t mean that you won’t be the only one inside once you pass through the velvet ropes. If you aren’t completely familiar with Las Vegas nightclubs, you should always ask around for unbiased opinions from people with similar tastes as yours, who have had a great time at the clubs they are recommending, and who have absolutely nothing to gain by sending you to them.

Don’t Ride in Taxi Cabs
There probably isn’t a city in the world with as many limousines eagerly awaiting to take you to your destination in style as there are absolutely everywhere you look in Las Vegas. There are rows of them waiting at the airport, hundreds more of them a phone call away, and not a minute will pass by without you seeing at least one or two drive through a casino valet. You can easily reserve chauffeured transportation in advance, or simply walk up to the bellman in front of any major Las Vegas resort and ask them if there are any limousines on stand-by. This way you should be able to fit all of your party in one car, and might even save a little money in the process.

Always Bottle Service
Reserving bottle service at a Las Vegas nightclub guarantees that you won’t have to wait in line on the way in, that you will have a place to sit down and always have a drink in your hand without having to fight for it at a crowded bar. Having bottle service also offers you a private security guard, and helps to lessen the chance of you spilling an entire drink all over yourself because someone bumped into you on the way back from the dance floor. If you are looking to be VIP, this is a must.

Never Wait in Line
If you have reserved bottle service at a Las Vegas nightclub in advance, your party will be able to walk right up to the reservation area without waiting hours in line. If you didn’t, you still shouldn’t waste your valuable time staring at the back of someone’s head outside all of the action. Work your way to the front of the line and offer to take care of the doormen if he helps your party slip past the line. Usually $10 to $20 per person will do the trick. He will ask how many are in your party, shake your hand, and let you through the ropes.

Know the Difference
For nightclubs it is important to separate “Hosts” and “VIP Hosts.” A Host actually works for the club, is the one who will inevitably be handling your table reservations, taking care of your party during the night, and who will be expecting a tip at the end of the night (of $100 or more) regardless of how often you actually see them. A VIP Host is a middle-man that doesn’t actually work for the club, but has an established relationship with the hosts and doormen at most of the clubs around town. Their job, if you choose to use them, is to do all of the work for you, and to ensure that you and your friends have a great time all night. You don’t have to worry about waiting in lines, getting anyone’s attention, making reservations, scheduling limousines, or keeping all of your friends under control time wise. They will take care of everything in advance, walk you through the lines with little-to-no-wait, and will also be expecting an additional tip for their services (of $100 or more).

Know How to Tip the People That Take Care of You
Taking care of the right people at the right time can get you a lot of places. Tipping the doormen can help you skip the line. Tipping your host will get you a better table, and a steady stream of beautiful women offering to join your party upon your request. Tipping the security standing near your table early in the night will make sure that no one walks up and bothers your table. You can even have someone thrown out if you really want.

Never Forget What You Are Working With
In the world of Las Vegas nightlife, sex appeal and alcohol are just about as good as cold hard currency. If the majority of your party is filled with sexy women, make sure to respectfully let your host know that when you are making your reservations. It will make their job easier, and might save you a few hundred-dollar bottles of liquor off of your table bottle minimum. Are you a group of guys looking to enjoy the company of a group of women standing near your table? Offer them a free drink from your bottle. It’s a great “ice breaker,” and nine times out of ten they’ll take you up on your offer.

A true VIP will always savor the moment, but won’t ever let anyone think for even a second that they aren’t completely used to this luxurious fast-paced lifestyle. And while Madonna, P-Diddy, and Paris Hilton might be able to get away with being a little more on the “demanding” side, you should always remember to remain as humble and understanding as possible to anyone you encounter. After all, when you live the VIP lifestyle in Las Vegas, you never know who you are around at any given time.
