For today’s guest column, Luxe Life explores a different side of Vegas entertainment. PR guru, Wayne Bernath, writes about some of the exciting shows in Vegas. We'll also hear from Ken Henderson, CEO of Best Agency -- a creative agency that covers talent, events, productions and of course, modelling.
THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT II: PR GURU WAYNE BERNATH
“The Sopranos Last Supper” is the champagne and caviar of dinner theatre in Las Vegas. The Mob is back but this time they’re entertaining and resurrected the dinner show of the ‘70s. The two-hour spoof with dead-ringer look-alikes is in The Krave Theatre. The theatre looks like it has been custom-built for this dinner show. Producer John Stagliano redesigned the room for “The Fashionistas” and it was like a match made in heaven? There’s a three-piece band and Janien (Massi) Valentine formerly of Clint Holmes’ show plays D.D. Diamond. I’m amazed that for the first time ever a Las Vegas show opened in Las Vegas. This show doesn’t have any competition but would also do well in The Big Apple and Atlantic City.

'Soprano's Last Supper' at Krave
There’s a cast of 20 with a three-piece live band that gets the party-goers up and dancing. Be careful this interactive show could get you inducted into the mob. It’s a five-course gourmet all-you-can-eat spreadplus wine or champagne. “The Sopranos Last Supper” at Kraveis so good it’s a crime. Dillstar Productions’ COO Maggie D. Cupp said, “We’re in Las Vegas to stay. We have this show running in different cities but this is the Cadillac of our shows. We offer the best food of any dinner show in Las Vegas. We get a lot of people from New York-New York and The Venetian because of our theme.”
Lance Burton celebrated the 10th anniversary of his “Master Magician” show at the Monte Carlo. The world’s best magician had Robert Goulet on stage and turned him into a magician before - floating him off stage before bringing him back for his bow on June 21. His famous friends among your truly were Penn & Teller, gal pal and star of “Erocktica” Gabriella Versace, Mac King, Johnny Thompson, Criss Angel, Clint Holmes, Wayne Newton, David Faustina and George Wallace. It was truly a magical night.
Lance’s mom, Hilma Burton of Kentucky, (pictured here with Lance and Alan Thicke) received the biggest applause. The new version of “Lance Burton: Master Magician” is over the top. Over $1 million was spent on new illusions, scenery, costumes and music. It’s the most powerful high-tech theatre lighting system in the world.
The new opening of the show is a life-size clear mannequin that slowly transforms into a living, breathing Lance Burton. This is very futuristic! “The Magic Zone” is a one-act play with murder and mayhem that lasts six minutes. Stay alert! It’s trick after trick and high energy. The Solid Gold Lady took five years of blood, sweat and tears to come alive. It takes on a James Bondish theme. Congrats to MGM-Mirage for a fabulous after-party!
Entertainment visionary Norbert Aleman (pictured) who produces “An Evening at La Cage” and “Crazy Girls” at the Riviera Hotel on The Strip recently premiered his newest venture, a docudrama “Trantasia,” which is a spin-off of “The World’s Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant” held at the Riviera.
The seed was planted five years ago when I introduced Ted Smith to him. I knew Smith as a producer for “Sally Jessy” and “Maury Povich” and brought him to Aleman’s home. Two years ago, when Bernath told Ted Smith about the pageant, he called his brother Chris to help.

History was made recently for transgender people when the most progressive film to date premiered at the SF International LGBT Film Festival in the Victoria Theatre seating 500 with an after-party at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel’s on the eve of the Gay Pride Parade. The SF Observer said, “True, there is plenty of glitz and glamour, but what makes the doc stand out is that you get to know some of the really remarkable women well, traveling with them to their hometowns, and in some cases, meeting their families.”
Frank Marino the star of “An Evening at La Cage” is the longest running headliner in the same showroom on The Las Vegas Strip. He even outlasted Joan Rivers who he impersonates. Frank Marino has emceed and performed in the “La Cage Theatre” since 1985 at the Riviera Hotel. Frank Marino recorded a nationally distributed comedy CD entitled “Live from Las Vegas,” Marino known as the Queen of the Strip, stars in the show with some of the world’s hottest celebrity female impersonators extraordinaire.

Frank Marino's sweet ride
Frank Marino’s just released a compilation video entitled “Bold, Blonde & Beautiful.” This video not only takes you through the Frank Marino’s career with many of the celebrity guests but also includes a never before released Las Vegas live performance. His latest project is “Drags to Riches” -- just think of ‘American Idol’ meets ‘Top Model.’ It’s a one hour-hour television pilot. Frank Marino said, “This would be the perfect series for FOX.”
When it come to “La Cage” if Frank Marino is the main course then dessert and drinks are J.Lo, “Madonna’s Bigger Sister,” “Tammy Spraynette,” Bette Midler,Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, Madonna, Dolly Parton, Cher, Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Reba and Michael Jackson. This is a must-see show for those who have doubts. It’s possible to see “La Cage” go down one escalator and hang out at “Crazy Girls” to see some real women.

Nino Frediani and Crazy Girls
The “Crazy Girls” never looked more gorgeous and their performances have never been better as the sexiest eight-pack of topless entertainers dance on stage each night by acting out their sexy numbers at 9:30 p.m. nightly at the Riviera Hotel & Casino. Most recently, the most powerful theatre critic in the United Kingdom took in the show and will be giving the “Crazy Girls” a great review in The London Telegraph whose circulation is equal to USA Today.
Comedy juggler Nino Frediani who is legally blind met with three handicapped wheelchair bound athletes from New Zealand and gave them some of his inspiration for a show to air on public television in New Zealand called “Attitude.” He gave one of them a juggling lesson. The 66-year-old juggler is more like a man half his age. Scott Phillip Santos recently took some hot photos of “Las Vegas’ Sexiest Topless Revue’s” entertainers, to be seen soon in an upcoming AOL Vegas photo tour of the show.
