In This Issue:Sylvester Stallone plans to premiere 'Rocky 6' in Vegas.
"Mr. Las Vegas" Wayne Newton is on his way back to Vegas with his Holiday shows.
Barbara Streisand is coming to town, and it will cost up to $1,000 for a ticket.
Robin helps you sort through the weekend's hottest events with Robin's Royal Rundown.

Has 'Rocky' superstar hero Sylvester Stallone firmly decided to have the world premiere of his latest fight film 'Rocky 6' right here in Vegas? My movie-industry contacts say that, sometime early in December, Sly will host a massive celebrity-studded gala with Planet Hollywood honcho Robert Earl at his newly-decorated Theater for the Performing Arts at the Aladdin, which is undergoing a mega-million makeover into the first Planet Hollywood casino. Sly, who filmed the closing fight sequences of the movie at Mandalay Bay, also secretly screened a rough print for audience reaction in Henderson late this summer. He shot 3 endings and got audience reaction to 2 of them. He’ll edit all 3 and will pick the final one, literally 24 hours before the Vegas premiere, so everybody is kept guessing until the very last moment. As a Planet Hollywood investor, Stallone also celebrated his recent 60th birthday at the hotel. One Vegas movie-theater owner told Luxe Life: “It’s a done deal. Even though the Aladdin doesn’t have a proper movie theater, they’ll turn the concert stage over for a movie screen and bring in projectors just for Stallone.” The premiere of Stallone’s movie, the same-month televised record-awards show and the debut TPA’s Barenaked Ladies rock fest, all indicate that the Aladdin is moving closer and closer to finally shedding its old image and reopening as Planet Hollywood and claiming title as Tinseltown’s very own entertainment resort at center-strip.
WAYNE’S HOLIDAY SHOW

It's time for another Winter Wonderland. Can you believe we are only 10-weeks from Christmas? Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton, already has his Holiday List in order and he’s bringing his acclaimed touring holiday show to Harrah’s Nov 22, and it will run through New Years Eve. He has his talented orchestra and ensemble singers all set for the nightly shows and promises additional holiday surprises. Wayne guarantees an exciting compilation of his classic hits and favorite songs of the season on a wintry set tailored especially for Harrah’s. "I'm thrilled to bring this show home for the holidays," said Wayne. "We've had a great time performing it for audiences around the world, and I'm especially excited to again perform this show in the greatest city in world, my hometown, Las Vegas.” Harrah’s President, Don Marrandino added: “Voices like Bing Crosby, Mel Torme and Wayne Newton have long been associated with warm memories of this special time of year. Wayne's shows will be the perfect centerpiece for holiday fun here.”
STREISAND SINGS
It was
almost 13 years ago that Barbra
Streisand gave up live
performances, except for her surprise appearance at last year’s 10th
Anniversary
Andre Agassi Grand Slam at MGM.
She did four concerts, in
Sept. 2000, as a farewell. But last week the 64-year-old superstar
singer began
a comeback tour of 20 dates in 16 cities, and will donate $10 million
of the
proceeds to her favorite environmental, education and health charities.
As the
Democratic Party’s chief Hollywood fundraiser,
her first $1-million is going to former President Clinton’s Climate
Control
Initiative. However, music insiders pointedly observe: “It's still a
tour for
profit and should gross up to $90 million. Her tickets might average
$275, but
the expensive seats hit the $1,000 mark for her show here in MGM’s
Grand Garden
Arena on November 18. Industry experts say its likely to be the most
successful
of her entire career as America’s
biggest selling female recording star of all time with 71-million
albumssold. 2005’s
'Guilty Pleasures' was her 50th gold recording. It's difficult to get
inside
word from the Streisand camp about what’s planned for Vegas, but I did
learn
that classical vocalists Il Divo will tour with her and she’ll have a
58-piece
orchestra on stage with her.
HOTTEST AUGUST ON RECORD
Statistics and figures released this morning indicate that Vegas continues, hotter than ever, on its record-setting pace. The visitor count rose 2.7% in August to 3.3 million visitors; an all-time record for that particular month since record-keeping began, and the highest level of growth since January with occupied room nights rising 2.3%, aided by strong growth in the convention calendar up 53.3%. Occupancy levels for hotels rose to 90.7% from 88.7%. Drive-in auto traffic increased 2.0% and air traffic increased a strong 4.1%.
STRIP SCRIBBLES
Now that 'Mindfreak' illusionist Criss Angel calls Vegas home, as he works on the new Cirque du Soleil magic spectacular appearing and disappearing at the Luxor in 2008, you canspot him all over town. To celebrate his self-gift of a new half-million dollar sports car, he took a table on the terrace at PURE for his friends to enjoy Grey Goose Vodka and sodas while being mobbed by fans who wanted autographs and fotos. … I’m always telling you about the wildly expensive fine-dining spots in this amazing city of star chefs and regal restaurants, but every now and again you come across an inexpensive gem you just have to share with everybody. If you love Asian specialties, check out Pho at Treasure Island, which serves up the most amazing Vietnamese noodle soups, rice entrees with those Oriental spice tastes and amazing Vietnamese appetizers. A true authentic and inexpensive discovery!!
ADVANCE NOTICE
Every Friday I like to look ahead on my diary and pick upcoming events I think you definitely won't want to miss. Accordingly, you can plan your travel weeks in advance so you’re available to catch those things you really shouldn’t miss. Country star Brad Paisley has special guest Carrie Underwood on board when his 'Time Well Wasted' tour pulls into Mandalay Bay on November 30. For the 1st half of this year, Brad’s tour was ranked #5 in fan turnout just behind Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Rascall Flatts and George Strait. Brad’s new release 'The World' is #1 for the 3rd consecutive week on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart while Carrie Underwood’s 'Don’t Forget To Remember Me' goes to #1 in R&R. Chris Rock will be honored as the 2nd recipient of The Comedian award, on November 17th at Caesars Palace. At last year’s inaugural Comedy festival, the honoree was Jerry Seinfeld. Chris, Brooklyn-born and raised, starred in his first feature film, 'Beverly Hills Cop II' in 1987, and joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1989. Now, for this weekend's events which we affectionately refer to as ROBIN'S ROYAL RUNDOWN:
Friday, Oct. 13Happy
Birthday to Ashanti
who will celebrate her birthday with Nelly at TAO.
For
great comedy with an ethnic twist, laugh-along with George
Lopez

Smooth,
sweet sounds fill the air with Peabo
Bryson at Boulder
Station.
Thrice
goes 3-times the furor at the Hard Rock.
Big
Bad Voodoo Daddy casts spells at Red Rock.
Blue

House of Blues.

Acosta impersonates all the

community
treating over 350 neurogenetic affected kids.
For
physical strength and fitness fans, the US
Open Supercross revs up at MGM
Grand and the UFC 64 Unstoppable championship kicks in at Mandalay Bay with
Chuck
Liddell’s UFC after party at PURE.

Sunday, Oct. 15The
NBA kicks off its pre-season
exhibition games with Kobe Bryant
and his all-star LA Lakers bouncing the b-ball against the Phoenix Suns
at the
