In This Issue:George Clooney and the
'Oceans 13' cast wraps shooting today, in downtown
Vegas. In the same area as Clooney and
crew, 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' films its 9th show of the
season.
The
Sirens of TI are turning 3, and Robin
talks to sexy Siren Stacey
Kane.
There are more and more changes going on in the Vegas hotel
scene and Robin has the scoop.
CAMERA CLASH
Two sets of film crews might wind up tangled with each other today when George Clooney wraps the last, 3-day shoot sequence of his new 'Oceans 13' movie downtown. He'll be on Fremont Street, inside a pawnshop, not buying adult-movies but checking out the cash value of jewelry pieces. Meanwhile, cameras will be rolling for the 9th show of this season's 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' on the same street! The episode will air during the crucial November sweeps ratings period. 'Oceans 13,' which shot other location sequences here twice this summer, is on target for release next June with Al Pacino playing the casino owner and the usual team of Brad Pitt and Matt Damon as George's sidekicks.

Vince Neil outside of his new tattoo parlor, which will open Nov. 3 inside O'Sheas.
My neighbor and good friend, legendary Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, is getting more and more excited about his first tattoo shop. The tattoo aficionado tells me his hip new venue, inside O'Sheas alongside the Flamingo, opens Nov 3, the day before his Crue/Aerosmith concert at MGM Grand. It's the first such store in a Center-Strip casino. He tells me it will feature tattoo services by an array of experienced tattoo artists that he personally recruited from some of the nations top tattoo artists. "Tattoo is my personal form of art and in my ongoing quest to tattoo the world, what better way to do it than to put a shop in the middle of Sin City?" he told Luxe Life. The 1,230 sq. ft. tattoo shop will feature four tattoo rooms, including one VIP room and one room that allows passerby's to view tattoos in progress. In addition, a retail area will offer exclusive Vince Neil merchandise and Motley Crue memorabilia can be found throughout the facility. To complete the rock n' roll vibe, the Chopper from Motley Crue's 'Girls, Girls, Girls' video will be featured prominently in the front window. "When creating a party atmosphere at O'Sheas, the idea of putting a tattoo shop on one of the busiest corners of the Strip was a natural fit," said Don Marrandino, president of Flamingo, which operates O'Sheas. "Vince Neil was the first man that came to my mind. He is the epitome of rock 'n' roll. He knows the Las Vegas scene, and he brings to the project the prestige of a major music industry star. We look forward to having Vince and his friends at O'Sheas." In conjunction with the new tattoo shop, O'Sheas will introduce a new rock 'n' roll blackjack pit with six custo- designed tables.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

The Sirens of TI will celebrate their 3rd Anniversary on Halloween eve with a party at MIST.
Congratulations to the Sirens and Pirates who duel to the death nightly at Treasure Island on celebrating their 3rd anniversary. Although they began the Buccaneer Bay battles exactly 3-years-ago today, on Oct 25, 2003, they will hold off their big birthday blast until Halloween Eve, next Tuesday, with an authentic costume party at MIST in the TI. Almost 7-million people have watched the Strip-side production. It all coincides with their 3,000th show and even Jenny McCarthy has been a guest Siren! You know me for finding the fun facts, so here they are: With 4 nightly performances the cast has run the show almost 1,000 hours. In that time, gunshots, fireworks that have fired and exploded amount to 250,000. With 3,000-sinkings, the "Bull" ship has only moved 194 miles in the 1.5 million gallon "sea." Although HQ'd at TI, the Sirens have become one of the country's hot touring performance acts, singing the national anthem before sold-out crowds at games for the Chargers, Browns, Clippers, Lakers, Diamondbacks, Padres and others. The Sirens' dancers have performed at high-profile events such as the exclusive Playboy Super Saturday VIP event at the '05 Super Bowl in Jacksonville and the GQ Lounge in Chicago ('04). Last year, Chicago hotspot "reserve" flew in the cast to transform the ultra lounge into a steamy one-of-a-kind affair. This weekend, the Sirens will perform at an ultra-exclusive private event during the massive SEMA auto-parts convention being held here this week. From daring swordplay to high-diving acrobatics and eye-popping pyrotechnics, the Sirens of TI is packed with countless thrills. The music, dance, excitement and seduction in this modern musical-meets-action-movie spectacular was created by my friend, award-winning director Kenny Ortega. To mark the 3rd birthday, I talked with lead singer Stacey Kane, a former NFL cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders. She used those dance moves to find "extra" work in several film and TV productions before a family she was working for as a part-time nanny persuaded her to try out for the Sirens. She's been with the show since Day 1:
Robin Leach: Is this about girl power? Is this about the conquest of women over men?
Stacey Kane: Absolutely. It is about charm, sarcasm, and wit. It is really fun. The main character that I play is all of those things, so I really enjoy it. I started as a tomcat character in the original cast and I have been fortunate to move up the ranks and now I play the lead. My favorite part of the show is after they blow up our ship's doorway, with a hugefiery explosion. It is very dramatic. I come up and I am really upset and that is when you can really see what a Siren is. It has one of my favorite songs in the whole show; there are whips cracking and it is really fun. With proper dancers in the show we've even been able to add in some of our own choreography and that adds to the fun. A siren is a mythological creature who uses her voice to enchant the pirates, lures them in and captures them... that is how the story goes. In real life, a siren is this beautiful creature who just wants to play with the boys, but if you cross her you'll have to deal with her in no uncertain terms!

Sexy Siren Stacey Kane can be seen doing her thing outside of TI nightly.
RL: This is a year-round show that is performed in the open air at night. During the spring and the summer it must be beautiful. How do you stay warm in the winter?
SK: Oh absolutely. We have a wonderful wardrobe department that provides us with shrugs and such when it startsto cool down. In the winter they provide us with coats and gloves that go with our costumes. The water people have a wet suit that goes under their clothes, but they are pretty much stuck. That water gets pretty cold. Close to the point where they can't put their heads under the water when they are swimming. They will get a brain freeze, but they are tough guys. The girls stop diving into the water at the end of October.
RL: So how does it feel to be three-years-old with a show in Vegas?
SK: I think it is pretty cool. I tell people all the time how fortunate I am to be in Vegas, in a show. This is something I have always wanted to do, to be in entertainment. Treasure Island is a great place to be and I love the show, I love my department, and my managers and I love the cast. It is awesome, and really exciting to be in the show every night. But, I hope it can eventually lead me into acting and I know that might mean eventually moving to Los Angeles, but I'm not going to make that move until I'm really familiar with all the aspects of the business.

One of the exciting, pyro-heavy scenes during the Sirens of TI.
Despite all the dangerous and scary moments in the show Stacey assured me it's all very safe choreography and none of the cast have any fears about anything going wrong, even though they are high-up on the mast of the ships. Even the fireworks spectacle that closes each show appears as if its right on top of the shapely, seductive sirens. But, the pyrotechnics are far enough away that nobody will get hit. She told me that over the 3-years there's even been one shipboard romance: Siren Tara Taylor and pirate Rhett Noseck battled one another nightly in the show, but found romance off-stage and one night he proposed while on the ship and they became engaged. He went down on bended knee and the safety cameras actually recorded his surprise proposal!
HOT AND SULTRY

Vegas hottie Gerina Di Marco can be heard on her hard rockin' debut 'Gerina.'
Latin pop diva Gerina Di Marco may well have been born in Venezuela, but she now lives here and brought her brand of pop rock to the kick off event for ArtAbout, the largest street festival and farmers market in Southern Nevada. She fronted a pop/rock group but went solo to record her danceable and sexy, soulful and hard rockin' debut, 'Gerina,' which she wrote and co-produced. She's already a hit songwriter in the Latin Pop world with 'Closer To You,' working with Steve Morales, a hit-producer with hits for Christina Aguilera, Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin.
HOTEL HAPPENINGS

The Platinum Hotel and Spa, which opens today and is smoke and gaming free.
The newest hotel in town opens today and surprise, surprise, it's smoke-free and gaming-free!! The upscale Platinum Hotel and Spa ushers in a new style of hospitality for our exciting city. It's only the second condominium-hotel to open so far and features a vast array of amenities for guests including spacious, deluxe one and two bedroom suites, casually elegant dining at the Restaurant at Platinum, the dynamic STIR cafe and lounge, and the intimate WELL Spa. "We will provide a terrific hotel experience so that our guestscanwork when they need to,and play when they want to," says Peter Rockwood, Vice President and General Manager. "Being that we are non-gaming, non-smoking, and full-service, there is truly nothing else like our hotel in the city."
All 255 suites are furnished with living rooms, fully stocked kitchens, and private terraces. Rooms include 42" wall-mounted plasma HDTVs, electric fireplaces, Bose radios, and whirlpool baths, a 24-hour business center, high-speed Internet access, a free health and fitness studio, two swimming pools and Wi-Fi capabilities throughout the property. The Restaurant at Platinum, with Executive Chef Brent Hammer at the helm, is a truly unique dining experience. Hammer's edgy American cuisine offers diners a mix of the anticipated and unexpected, with classic dishes presented in new and unusual ways for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the famed Strip and cross-roads of the Bellagio and Caesars Palace and Bally's just a block away, as its backdrop. In addition to The Restaurant, the hotel also features STIR, a cafe/lounge on the lobby level that will flowaround the clock around the concept of "Caffeine, Conversation, and Cocktails." Check out mixologist Niles Peacock's Fear and Loathing specialty cocktails, including a one-of-a-kind drink topped off with a flaming sugar cube. There's special treatments at The WELL Spa, billed as an oasis of calm, and an intimate comfort zone featuring six treatment rooms, separate-sexes steam rooms in a luxurious environment for relaxing and renewing the mind, body and spirit, No stay at The Platinum would be complete without a visit to the hotel's crown jewel, Misora, the 17th-floor rooftop terrace which offers guests views of the dazzling city and the dramatic desert sunsets, complete with telescopes for guests who want to train their eyes on the sky, or the city around them. The indoor/outdoor space is also the perfect location for private events, weddings, and more.
Meantime, the new Spa Costa Del Sur has just opened at the South Coast with an amazing 20,000 sq.ft facility, featuring 60 different treatments, including 3 cascading Vichy water showers, and the Flamingo has ripped apart 60 of its old rooms and turned them into Wi-Fi celebrity suites with not one, but two 42" HD flat screen TV's and a third set inside the bathroom mirror! Eventually all 3,500 Flamingo rooms will be modernized and made over. ... Construction is well underway and a condo-sales team was just put in place for MGM's new Project City Center, which will really change our center-strip skyline for good.

An artist rendering of MGM's upcoming Project City Center.
Another hotel change is happening at Harrah's, which is planning a new promenade for Paris. The company has filed permit applications to move the pedestrian sidewalk along the Strip in front of its Paris resort property closer to the hotel and casino in order to make the new promenade. In addition, Harrah's wants to install a 24-foot-high pedestrian bridge across the property's driveway/traffic roundabout.
STRIP SCRIBBLES

Artist Christian Reese Lassen with his newly painted piano and the Hawaiian Tropic beauties.
Ten gorgeous Hawaiian Tropic beauties, who are featured in a titillating layout in the November issue of Playboy, joined with famous artist Christian Reese Lassen at his gallery in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, to unveil the new $325,000 Yamaha piano he's painted with his trademark underwater images. Yes, that's the actual painting on the lid and not a reflection from the gallery walls. Needless to say all eyes were on the piano... OK, they were really on the beauties!!! ... Wow! The about-to-be-unveiled, newly redecorated, casino at the Aladdin, about to change over to Planet Hollywood, is stunning and striking. I got a sneak peek from chief honcho Robert Earl and president Mike Mecca and it's exactly as if the magnificent architectural renderings have come to life. Sleek, sophisticated and sexy with gorgeous chandeliers, luscious lighting, tantalizing tile, marble and woods and captivating carpets. A mega-night and day difference from the old hotel. The walls should come down this week to reveal the "all new look," just as work begins on the Planet Hollywood facade and front courtyard entrances, ending forever the former garbled garden up and down, higgledy-piggledy walkways.
TONIGHT'S TIP
World-famous architect Frank Gehry hosts a party at Tiffany's in the Bellagio for his new line of jewelry and bidders can buy a key to see if it opens the ultimate blue box of goodies with proceeds going to the new Lou Ruvo Brain Institute for Alzheimer's research downtown. ... Before hitting the quarter mile at 300-miles-per-hour, several of the NHRA's top drivers will be facing a different kind of pressure at the poker table for a good cause, when our local chapter of Speedway Children's Charities holds its 3rd annual "Cards for Kids" Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament at the Cannery Hotel & Casino.
TOMORROW'S TEASE
How'd you like to spend the night with b-ball's bad boy Dennis Rodman? He's putting himself up for sale and if all goes well you could marry and divorce him before the night's over!!! ... Magician Nathan Burton welcomes Regis Philbin back to Vegas and cuts another TV talk show host in half! Plus, Bravo TV's new chef-challenge showdown series with local judges and chefs.
