The Global Gaming Exposition brought 30,000 worldwide gaming executives to town and I was picked to emcee two shows: the first was an enjoyable parade of our cities most beautiful cocktail servers modeling all the new outfits they'll be seen wearing in the New Year and talk about strut your stuff! The tougher assignment was ruling over the MGM Grand Neon Chef Competition. From my Food Network days we assigned a secret ingredient to the two teams: Shark Fin for the MGM Grand kitchen kings and Kobe Beef for the boys from Bellagio! They faced an even tougher unexpected challenge. Due to a technical breakdown the gas lines to their stoves had been turned off, so they had to improvise at the very last second to prove their culinary skills. But all agreed it was a masterpiece of epic proportions and they created a meal the likes of which wouldn't even be seen on a restaurant menu here.

Executive Chef Michael Omo's MGM menu
First course: Shark Fin and Sea Urchin Soup
Second Course: Seafood Bento Box Maine Lobster and Avocado with shiso Vinaigrette; Kanpachi and Salmon Ceviche Salmon Sashimi and Hijiki Roll with Mango yuzu sauce; Sunomono Salad and Marinated Kibenago Sashimi; Snow Crab Salad; Hamachi Tarter with Tobiko and Garlic scented Ponzu.
Third Course: Wok seared Lobster, Clam and Snow Crab; Spicy Thai Chili Sauce
Fourth Course: Wagyu Experience; Wagyu Tenderloin with Foie Gras Crisp Spring roll with Mango sauce; Truffle Glazed Wagyu Ribeye with white truffle garlic Ponzu sauce; Braised Short Rib in Plum Poached Daikon and Edaname.
Executive Chef Wolfgang Von Wiener's Team Bellagio menu
First Course: Shintaro; Trio of Chili Glazed Diver Scallop on Crispy Eggplant; Salmon Poki in a Poached Shitake Mushroom Cap; Eel with Spring Vegetables.
Second Course: Shintaro; Kobe Beef and Shark Fin Soup Shabu Shabu style; Jasmine; Alaskan King crab with Osetra caviar in a crispy rice basket with Chinese vinegar; Palate cleanser; Ginger Ale with star anise, lemon and orange.
Main Course: Noodles; Buddha Duck Breast with Abalone, Tofu Crisp and Asian Spiced Orange Sauce.
Dessert: Passion Fruit Custard in egg shells; Vanilla ice cream with orange blossom flavor; Vanilla custard with an almond cookie; Pineapple and mango chutney with Sesame crisp.
They were judged on unique presentation and creativity and the best treatment of the unusual food combinations. It was the narrowest of victories for Team Bellagio with only a handful of points separating the MGM runners-up.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Las Vegas' favorite charity, Opportunity Village, will open this year's Magical Forest tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day with 34 displays and dozens of new features including the Snow Village Police Department and old and new interactive activities for the entire family including the popular Alpine Slide. In true Magical Forest tradition, Santa Claus will be on hand for family photos and visitors can enjoy the passenger train and carousel. The success of this fundraiser open through Dec. 30, on the Campus at West Oakey is essential in ensuring that disabled residents in the Las Vegas Valley continue to have access to the programs and services they so desperately need. Please give it your generous support.

NEW DOWNTOWN NIGHTCLUB
The Take 1 nightclub and the National Las Vegas Entertainment Hall of Fame have joined forces to form a unique downtown attraction on Freemont Street. The Vintage Vegas Hall of Fame featuring photos, plaques and Vegas memorabilia from yesteryear will open daily at 11AM with a supper club opening for Bobby Ruffin's Drifters tribute show with dinners served at 6PM and 7:30PM before the nightclub opens at 10PM. Expect the official inductees to be announced at the opening on Friday this week.
STRIP SCRIBBLES

World-renowned artist Peter Max will unveil a one-of-a-kind Baldwin Baby 5'2" Grand piano, painted by the artist himself, on Friday November 24, at 6PM, as he kicks off his Thanksgiving weekend exhibition at The Art of Peter Max Gallery in the Forum Shops. My pal Peter will appear in person Friday and also on Saturday, November 25 from 1 to 4PM to meet with fans and speak about the piano as well as other new artworks debuting at the gallery. Both events are open to the public. Peter painted the Baldwin piano in his studio in New York, which he promised will be completed and arrive just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend event. The sale of this top-of-the-line Max adorned Baldwin piano will not only provide a unique opportunity for a fortunate collector, but will benefit the Gibson Foundation and Peter Max's Global Works Foundation charities as well. He is no stranger to painting large works of art. Earlier this year, he painted a Baldwin piano for Ringo Starr that they unveiled together on 'Good Morning America.' Additionally, in 2000 Max painted the largest Boeing 777 Continental jumbo jet that flies around the world.
TONIGHT'S TIP
The launch of Supersonic at the Playboy Club, and the Moon nightclub in the Palms with an Italian Harvest thanksgiving in the new Nove restaurant.
HOLIDAY WEEKEND TEASE
Luxe Life will return later today with a special photo salute to Wayne Newton's Holiday Show at Harrah's, along with Robin's Royal Rundown of all the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend attractions. It'll remain posted throughout the weekend and we'll be back as normal next Monday.
