Since I’m filling in for Robin Leach this week, I decided to write the column with an English accent.
Vegas is hot, not Paris Hilton hot, but like 150 degrees hot. I’m from Florida, so I’m used to the heat (and humidity), but this is ridiculous. I know, I know, it’s a dry heat. So is my oven, but I’m not going to stick my head in it! In Florida, I have a two foot frizz fro. Here, I never have a bad hair day. If you’re a guy and have hair, EVERY day is a good hair day. And, no, folks, it’s not a wig. If it was, wouldn’t I pick a better one? I live with this hair every day. It’s not the best look, but it’s a look. As an adult, I’ve grown used to it, but it was hard as kid. People would always ask me who had the red hair in the family? I would always say we have an Irish Setter!
I love it here in Vegas. Who doesn’t love Vegas? Drinking, gambling, smoking and prostitution. Let’s bring the kids. C’mon, we’re all going. It’s a family trip.
Seriously though, since I started at the Luxor, life has been good. I bought a house, so I can go home after my show every night and live somewhat normal. I can go see some of the shows and concerts on the strip. Now that I’m here all the time, I can really appreciate the city. It’s an amazing place. Great stuff to do off the strip too like The Hoover Dam, Red Rocks, Mt. Charleston, and Lake Mead. For those people coming to visit, maybe you should spend a day checking out some of these places as well as the Strip.
One of the nice things about being in Vegas all the time is the food. I love to eat. I eat all the time. I like gourmet food and bar food. There’s too many places for me to name. You can find great food on all sides of town and on the strip.
I have to admit that I have a shopping jones. I love shopping at the city’s thrift shops for props that I can use in the show. But, I also enjoy going to the Forum Shops and Fashion Show Mall. I can find just about anything I need here.

There’s a ton of other stuff to do here. I like to see shows when I get some free time. My favorite is Carrot Top (shameless plug). Not only is he one of the funniest, but he is one of the most handsome performers. He’s been voted “Nevada’s Best Comedian” by the readers of Nevada Magazine for the fifth time in six years. When informed he won the award, he immediately demanded a recount.
Actually, I love the nightlife here from all the shows and concerts to all the nightclubs. I finally get to experience Vegas.

An eclectic group of people attend my shows. At any given time backstage, I’ll have celebrity visitors and/or porn actors. (For some reason I’ve very popular with the porn stars and they flock to my show during their annual convention here.) My mother lives here in Vegas and she comes to see me often. This sometimes makes for an interesting night. There is nothing more fun than hanging out with porn stars and your mother. At least she only knows them from my show, or so she says.
Folks, if you live here you’re a lucky bunch. I thank you for welcoming me into the fold like you have. If you’re visiting, by all means enjoy the shows (I’m sure there are tickets available to mine, by the way) and the casinos, but get off the Strip some, too. Venture out and you’ll meet some of the nicest folks in the country and get some mighty fine grub as well. (Did that sound good in an English accent?) Just remember it may be hot here, but it’s a dry heat!
Thanks, Robin, for inviting me to share my view of Las Vegas, my adopted home. I hope, wherever you are, the champagne is flowing and the caviar is fresh. Bring me back some cheap beer and imported pretzels. Maybe I’ll find a way to put them in my show.

Carrot Top can be seen at the Luxor. Visit his official site for more cool stuff than we can possibly fit here.
