Feeling Chillin'

REVIEW:  JUNO  3 1/2 STARS

Ellen Page gives a career making performance as a pregnant teen that's decided to give her baby to an adopting couple (Jason Bateman & Jennifer Garner) in Juno.  Page's character is far from normal which makes this film so entertaining.  Michael Cera plays the 'father' of the unborn child with a quiet calm that reminded me of a young Tom Hanks and J.K. Simmons & Allison Janney round out this fantastic cast as Juno's parents.

Juno finds the couple in the Penny Saver of all places and immediately takes a liking to Jason Bateman's laid back, father to be character while Garner is a little over anxious about becoming a mother.  We follow Juno through the entire pregnancy during which she finds a new bond with her step-mom, second thoughts about giving the baby up and love with Cera's character.

The script is as solid as they get these days, written as tight as a Jimmy Page guitar solo and deserves the Oscar.  The dialogue is near perfect and had me laughing within the first 2 minutes!  Another bonus was the very manageable running time of an hour forty minutes, so there is no dead space in the pace of the film.

I'm sure you've heard a lot about the film and I haven't met a person that didn't enjoy it, so jump on the bandwagon - it'll be a fun ride!

i assumed Juno was directed by the same guy that directed Knocked Up because it's about an unexpected pregnancy, and Michael Cera stars as Juno's boyfriend (he was one of the goofy kids from Superbad, a close relative of Knocked Up), but it turns out this is not the case www.kogmedia.com
