Danielle,Tallen,Capsie and Bird banding at Springbrook

Hi again
Though it probably seems to you regular blog readers that Carolyn and i do nothing but look at birds we do have a social life and I do hold down a full time job.  Yesterday Capsie seemed to call out for one of her friends, Danielle's six year old son Tallen and like magic two hours later Danielle and Tallen appear and we all went out to dinner, except for Capsie. They don't allow cats at Potbelly.  Later Tallen and Capsie shared several nose kisses, one of which is in my photos here.   Danielle didn't want her picture taken so that will have to appear later.
This morning I got up and went to Springbrook nature center to see the bird banding. The turnout was much larger than last week at Eastman nature center. Paul, who is in picture three here, told me that Springbrook is more for scientific study while Eastman is more for schools and education purposes so it draws a different crowd.  Most of the group were very knowledgeable about birding.  Ron was again the bander.   The two significant birds that I saw, I wasn't there all the time so I might have missed some, were the Indigo bunting, and the Magnolia Warbler that from behind looks much like a yellow rumped warbler  Carolyn calls those birds butter buts.  The magnolia warbler is just gorgeous as I hope these pictures can show. There was much good natured talk about birding. There was a man there knowledgeable about technology talking about a high resolution camera that could be placed near on on a nest that could be run by remote from a great distance and the pictures could be seen on a laptop. They had so many birds captured that they were releasing two at a time here.  The lady on the left had one and the man in the  camouflaged hat had another.
I was just happy to see that these gorgeous birds were at Springbrook park, which will make me want to go there later.
I hopeto be seeing a red tailed hawks nest too fairly soon.
That's all from Coon Rapids folks.
Thanks for your emails, love hearing from you
    Ron
