Bupkiss

Couldn't think of a title for the subject line so I just put the date in. My mind usually rambles which means my thoughts just kind of ramble around and spill out onto the screen. Walking stats first. 3-15 to 3-16 no walk. Did 2.772 miles on 3-17 and 3.170 miles on 3-18 in the rain! No thunder rumbling overhead or lightning bolts bouncing around so walking in the rain felt good. We got up at 4:15 am this morning to go to ABIA and see Lauren off to NYC. She's with her theater group from San Angelo and she's naturally very excited. Her first time flying and I think it's her first trip out of Texas too. She's 17 which I can't remember ever being. ;-)

Watched Senator Obama's speech this morning on race and it was as usual inspirational as most of his speeches are. This time though I heard substance in what he had to say  reasons for why all people have anger towards one group or another and some glimmer of solutions to correct them. I well understand his grandmother because I have a grandson who is of mixed race and heritage. He's handsome, smart, and we love him unconditionally like we do our children and the rest of our grandchildren. Am I guilty of racism? I'd like to think not but I'm sure that I've been guilty of it a time or too. Will the problems he talked about be fixed anytime soon? I don't think so, at least not in my lifetime. Do I believe we should carry on the fight to do so? Certainly. How? I don't know. I certainly have high hopes that the younger generation of Americans will indeed improve the things Senator Obama talked about and become one nation again...that would be nice.

Many thanks to Karla and Frankie for the nice comments on my 'joggin' video. They made me feel a whole lot better about my little experiment which is to intersperse some jogging into my daily walks. My little sprints usually last 3 minutes but I did jog for 10 minutes once...but that was too much for me at one time...at least for now.
