Thyroid test and other stuff
I walked 3.171 miles on the 3-19 but did not walk today.
TMI...I know but just in case you have to have one of these tests this is what went on. My thyroid test.
On Day 1
At 10 am I was ushured into a small room and answered questions from the technician who then dumped a capsule out of a screw topped lead container. The capsule you see contains a small amount of radioactivity. Adverse reaction to this capsule is extremely rare. (This the tech will tell you as they back out of the tiny room you're in and leave you with the pill that you are not supposed to pick up but take directly from the container). This along with answering the many questions took about 15 minutes. Four hours later I went in for the first uptake. The uptake -- a probe is passed over your neck and then your right knee to measure your thyroid's ability to absorb the contents of the capsule. This takes about 15 minutes.
On Day 2
About 24 hours after receiving the capsule, I went in for another uptake and the scan.
The scan -- a gamma camera takes pictures to show the structure of the thyroid and the ability to function. This takes about 45 minutes. You lay flat with your head back to give the best access to your thyroid during the session for each set of images. It's totally non-evasive except for the capsule of course and unless you get nausea from your head angle during the test (as I did) it is as tests go an easy one to do. Of course the tech can tell you nothing about the images so I have to wait until the doctor calls me. I don't expect any dire news except for them to say that I do indeed have a lumpy thryoid. Why should it be any different than the rest of my body? Right? ;-)
About the hub-bub over Senator Obama's former pastor. People just need to get over it and focus on the issues. If you want radical views read the following:
|
Pastor John Hagee who endorsed McCain is an influential activist in the Christian Zionist movement. Hagee's comments about world affairs can make Farrakhan seem pedestrian at times: He eagerly awaits the Armageddon, considers the Catholic Church to be the Anti-Christ, and has said that Jews brought their own persecution upon themselves.and a number of other spiritual advisors to presidents and the like have said hateful things about people...
Hate and ignorance can be found everywhere and anywhere so like I said get over this Pastor Wright thing and focus on the things that will affect all of us like the Iraq war and the dwindling job market and education and health care...don't judge the candidates for what thier supporters say...focus on what the candidates themselves say and do.

Hey, if I ever ran for office, I wonder if they would use the FSM against me? :-)
