We've been watching the Olympic trials. I think the Americans should go to a point system for the Olympic teams. Sort of like the World Skiing Cup thing. The better you do all year or for four years or whatever, you make the team based on your cumulative performances. Anybody can have a bad day or moment or get hurt and with the system we have in place we sometimes don't get to send our best athletes to the games. Tyson Gay for instance. He won the 100 meter dash in 9.77 seconds. Wind assisted sure but wind shmind that's fast! Then he had a leg cramp during the 200 meter run and couldn't finish it. So, he's not going to be in it. Sort of sucks that the best of the best work for four years and it all comes down to a few seconds to make the team. On the swimming side Phelps won his five races as did Hoff for the women. Now there seems to be whispers of doping for Dara Torres (41) who made her fifth Olympics. Sigh...seems people don't like to see others do what they cannot and I'm talking about you sports writers. She looks in shape to me and I say 'you go girl' and hope she medals in the games.
