I didn't post my walking stats on the last post so here they are lest you think I'm not keeping to the plan. 7-13 no walk. 7-14 it was hot, hot, hot, and I managed to get in 2.569 miles. 7-15 did 3.041 miles. 7-16 Frank had surgery but I did get in some walk time waiting for him to be discharged. 7-17 I did 2.359 miles. This was the day I fell and bruised my knees and ego. 7-18 was a fabulous rare morning with a cool breeze to off set this oppressive heat wave we've been having and I got in 4.178 miles. 7-19 no walk. 7-20 it was icky, hot and sticky and I only did 2.641 miles. Bad news on the obesity front. As a country we're not making much progress in getting and keeping the pounds off. http://news.aol.com/article/south-remains-nations-fattest-region/88630 Here in Austin you see hundreds of people on the hike and bike trails and streets every day getting their workouts in. As a city I think they do a lot to help people lead a healthy life style but they can't make each and every person lead that life style so as always it's up to the individual to make the choices that affect their health and well being. For all my whining I do encourage anyone who wants to lead a healthier life to get up off the couch and do a little exercise. You'll feel better about yourself for it. Also one neat fact I found is thisl; for every ONE pound you lose you take FOUR pounds of pressure off of your knees! Is that cool or what?
