What a difference a day makes

In one day, I had an ex move out and had a first date with a very nice guy that I'll be seeing again.  There's still furniture left over here that won't be leaving for about two weeks but the rest of the things are gone and I have an empty bedroom.

Was home sick today and still feeling ill.  I don't know what it is lately--I seem to be getting tired and sick really often.  It's probably stress but it's putting a kink in my life that I don't like.  I've got a high-energy mind and a low-energy body right now.

I ordered dsl and therefore will be closing down my aol account.  I'm heading over to LiveJournal to set up an account and then I'll post the link.

Saturday Six

Saturday Six: http://journals.aol.com/pattboy92/PatricksPlace/

1. Which of the following is your favorite store and why?
A) Wal-Mart
B) Target
C) K Mart
D) Sears

B) Target.  Except I've learned not to buy towels there.

2. How far does your closest friend who's not in the same town as you live, and when was the last time you saw them in person?

None of my friends live in the same town as me.  And does "closest" mean close to me emotionally or physically?  I reject this question.

3. Have you ever gone on a date with someone you met online?  Would you?

Yes, my ex-fiance and I met online.  You just gotta be safe is all and make sure tons of people know where you're going and with whom and that he knows that they know.

4. What is your favorite novel and what makes it stand out for you?

The World According to Garp and The Hotel New Hampshire, tied.  Haven't read them in a while but they still stick with me as being about the very odd things that can shape who a person is and I liked that.

5. You get snowed in at your home for three days.  You have power and telephone service, but no way to leave the house.  How will you amuse yourself?

LOTR marathon.  Lots of reading.  Internet.  Crafts.  Video games.  Housecleaning.  And if the snow wasn't deep enough to wedge the door closed, I'd probably try to get outside and play in it and look around at the quiet world.

6. A fellow journaler you consider a friend disappears from J-land.  Visitors leave comments in the journal but they get no response.  You send the journaler an E-mail to make sure everything is okay, and despite the fact that you see that it has been read, you get no reply.  What do you do?

If you see the email has been read, they're still alive.  Obviously, the person has decided to disconnect from the online world for a while for whatever reason and you have to respect that.

Better

Feeling better today and I think it's because I only worked a half day and got my butt to the gym after work.  Got supplies for the new humidifier and it's running so hopefully the cats will stop having static cling soon.

If you haven't been watching "I Love the 90's Part Deux", you're missing out--Weird Al is on this one as a commentator and he's working the goatee which always makes him look like a sexpot.

I wanna go see Life Aquatic again.  I may have to.

People, please--if you haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite yet, please see it.  My work cafeteria had tator tots twice this week and all you heard from my department was "give me some of your tots...No, get your own!" over and over again.

Flat screen

I wish my computer at work had a flat screen--I think I'd work a lot more OT if my eyes didn't hurt so much from the darn glare.

I just realized that I'm sitting here playing with a slinky and drinking out of a water bottle that both have my company logo on them.  How freakin' loyal am I?

Today was not a good day.  I had had a bad night last night and this morning I should have stayed home like I wanted to but I told myself that I'd be fine.  Well, everything seemed to go wrong at work and it just left me feeling stressed and unhappy.  Better now but you know how it is when everything just feels off and you can't wait for bed so things can start over again.

I need a new computer game and/or online game.  Anyone got a good one?  Other than Sims, that is.  :)

Saturday Six

1. You achieve a high level of fame in your chosen career.  Calls begin coming in for interviews...if you could only appear on one of the following shows, which would you select?
A) Today
B) Live! with Regis and Kelly
C) The Daily Show
D) Oprah
E) David Letterman
F) Jay Leno
G) Jerry Springer

C) The Daily Show.  I'd be very intimidated but to be a part of anything that clever would be astounding.

2. You have the opportunity to briefly become another person in another body, then spend 48 hours alone with the real you.  Would you do it?

Absolutely.

3. You have the opportunity to briefly become another person in another body and live a normal life for 48 hours.  Would you dare to spend two days as a member of the opposite gender?

Again, of course.  And yes, I would try to have some sex to see what it was like as a man.

4. Compared to previous years, did you spend more or less money on Christmas gifts?  How soon do you think you'll have all of the bills for Christmas paid off?

Spent a lot less and didn't use a credit card so everything's already paid for.

5. What is the first toy you remember playing with?

Tinker Toys

6. Have you ever downloaded a song or theme song for your cell phone?  If so, which one amuses you most?  If you haven't, but had to pick one, what would it be?

Never downloaded one.  Thinking about getting Beastie Boys "Intergalactic".  My ring right now, though, sounds a little like a weird Japanese video game and I kinda like it the way it is.

Get out of my house!

This is possibly the last night J will sleep at the apartment.  Depending on how much he can get packed up.  Moving day is the end of the month.  Today I got furniture from my friends and an offer to buy their matching bedroom set for a pretty cheap price which I'm going to take them up on.  I also got to hear more J complaining about "new girl" which made me laugh but then feel sorry for her because from what he said, it seems like they're going to have some problems.  At least in the future.

The weekend went by too quickly and I wish I had a downtime day where I can sit at home.  Didn't even get the paper today which is annoying but I had no time.  And unfortunately, taking a vacation day or calling in sick will mean I can't do overtime which is what's going to pay for that bedroom set.  Need a massage and a cig but can't do either.  Guess some tea and an early bedtime will have to do.  And getting to the gym tomorrow for a destress.

Freakin' cold here today but little wind so tolerable.  Still wore two sets of clothes, though.  I wish there was something good you could get for spending time outside in the winter.  In the summer, I can get tan just by going outside for a few hours in the sun but in winter, there's no reward for spending three hours outside except a chapped face and fatigue.  Speaking of which...time for bed.

Bulls and Italian

Went to my first Bulls game ever today with the fam and they won by 2 points in the last 20 seconds, it was great.  Found out my uncle's now engaged--yea!

After the game, we went to Leona's which I really, really wish had a branch anywhere near where I live because any place that offers tofu as a pizza topping and makes a fantastic tomato cream sauce like I had tonight is okay by me.  Go there:

http://www.leonas.com/index.html

Closest location is like 45 minutes away but I may have to go.

Last night, a group of us watched Napoleon Dynamite again for the third time or so and us girls decided we would totally sleep with Napoleon.  The guys tried to understand.

Birds!

Today I found a print that I fell in love with and will fill a now bare space on a living room wall.  It was way too expensive to even consider but then I noticed it had been clearanced a couple times which brought it down to a very managable price so I snatched it up.  Then, when I got home, I chanted "don't fall, don't fall, don't fall" as I carried it across the ice-drenched parking lot.  It's now up and I love it, it looks great and fits perfectly.

I really enjoy cooking now.  I think it's because I can make whatever I want and don't have to worry about pleasing someone else who even though he said he wasn't picky, would shoot down all dinner ideas that I presented.  And if it sucks, I can throw it out and eat cereal.  Tonight, I grilled salmon on my George Foreman, made mashed potatoes, and "rock and roll" biscuits (the cheddar biscuit mix biscuits that taste like Red Lobster ones).  The only thing better than spending time on dinner and having it turn out great is going out to dinner and having someone else pick up the check.  :)

I need.  To go.  To sleep.  Early.  Tonight.  I have a craving for a really light beer but as I'm going out tomorrow, it can wait.  Now: Huge glass of ice water and Celebrity Poker.  And logging off so I can try to get some sleep.

Peter Sellers

The big plan was to hit the hay early tonight but the Peter Sellers movie is on HBO and I'm enjoying it.  And Stephen Fry just popped up so that's a pip.  "You remember Natalia.  The girl with the huge.....arthritic problem."

Found out some gross stuff about Splenda today so I don't plan on eating THAT.  Now: Tension Tamer tea and a cinnamon candle.
