Fourth of July

We had a great time.  My nephews Austin and Brodie were in town and gave Lyndon some to play with and show all his fireworks too.  Cason like the poppers, but perfered the toads, who were out in force.  It was great having Big Mama and Big Daddy with us, thank you Big Mama for tolerating Cason and his toads.  And of course, no party is complete without Grandma and Granny!

Things you learn on the farm as a young child

Here is a small list of a few things a young child will learn growing up on the farm.

1.  Don't eat ANYTHING!!!!!

2.  Horse apples are NOT a fruit.

3.  Goat poop doesn't go back in after it has come out...not matter how hard you push.

4.  Your favorite toy WILL get stuck in the mud, along with your shoe, and cup.

5.  After crying fits over number four, you realize it is fun to get your stuff stuck in the mud.  Especially if your mom is in a hurry and on her way into town.

6.  You learn about death...or the thoughts of.  Rats will die if they try to swim too long.  Fish will die if you feed them horse dewormer.  Snakes die if you chop their head off.

7.  Snake and steak sound an awful lot alike.   You become detoured from eating steak after you see what it looked like with it's head cut off.

8.  Touching a horses privates makes them very suspicious of you every time you walk into their pen, especially if you are holding a spray bottle.

9.  Poop of any sort does NOT come off your shoes, especially your good town shoes.

10.  If you hit a goat, he will hit back.

11.  Farriers don't trust you when you drive your battery operated vehicle under the horse that he is working on.

12.  Turtles will roll when you drop them.

13.  Ants DO bite, even after you argued with your mother that they don't.

14.  Stink bugs make your hand stink for a few hours.

15.  Caterpillars squish nicely between your fingers and under your shoe.

16.  Toads are slippery when muddy, and they will jump on your face.

17.  Even with a battery operated vehicle, you can run someone over, and they will cry.

18.  Dirt equals bath.

19.  Every vehicle you own must, and will pull a trailer.

20.  Cat throw up is not something you bring to your mom and show her when her eyes have been closed.

21.  The vet is COOL.  He gets to get dirty and no one yells at him.

22.  Don't pick up ANYTHING on the stall floors at the vets, Mom and Vets do freak out.

23.  Animals getting dental work bleed, and when they sneeze will cover you in it no matter where you are standing.

24.  Wet feathers will make mom gag when you carry them around in your toys.

25.  A child can own fifty two pickups, cars, tractors, trailers, and farm animals, and still insist on playing with the vaccum.

To be continued....

Absent, or lazy, you choose.

I haven't had a whole lot to say lately.  Cason's cardiologist appointment went great.  This is the best news so far.  His valves are still perfect...YEA!  His pressure in his aorta is s- l- i-g-h-t-l-y up.  Maybe by 5% is you can even judge to that much.  The medicine is saving him from surgery still...this is great.  Cason calls him Dr. Robins.  They seemed to actually bond this time...Cason was neither screaming or sedated.  All that 'playing doctor' and practicing paid off.  He never whined or whimpered the whole time.

As for me...I have only gained 13 pounds.  This is great, since I gained 60 with Cason by the end.  I am really trying to eat right, doesn't always work, especially with cafeteria food...but hey, I'm trying a LITTLE!

All else goes well I assume, animals are great, house is sorta great (a little messy, but dont' tell anyone)  I am nervous about my job.  We only have 10 kinder kiddos for next year.  So WAY not enough for two teachers.  My boss has yet to decide where I will be.  Not a normal stresser alone, but being that I will likely miss the whole month of August and first of September, I REALLY need to prepare my classroom NOW!

Well, time for supper, guess pictures will come later.

This week one of my student’s father passed away from kidney cancer.  It has been a long battle for him and just as long for his family.  I have grown very close to them and seeing him dying was heartbreaking.  I know they are all hurting and lonely.  He finally was able to escape the pain Wednesday night.

Yesterday Cason was playing in the front yard and I came in to change my clothes.  (MY big mistake!) I know better than to leave him out there.  Apparently he drove to the road in his tractor and a lady driving by noticed him.  So she slowed down, pulled into the opposite lane and went around him encase he darted INTO the road.  In the process she ran over our 5 and a half year old corgi/bordercollie Arwin.  I am very glad the lady stopped to tell me, and was attentive enough to watch for my son.  God took the dogs live instead of my sons.

I knew when I got to her that her hips were shattered, but she had feeling.  I also knew she had internal bleeding and was urinating blood...two deadly things.  (Sucks knowing this stuff sometimes)  I rushed her to the vet, but withing 20 minutes of the hit her heart stopped.  The vet tried CPR but she was too far gone.  My heart truly aches.  I miss her.  She was always around, always there, and always watching over Cason.  She had a little O.C.D, well, extreme O.C.D about fetching.  She would bring you a ball, bone, twig, horse poop, dead rat, dead bird, ANYTHING for you to throw.  She loved to play and chase the horses.

We buried her down there by them, her favorite place to

be.

Easter

What I always remember about Easter, the hollow chocolate bunny!

Hunting, and breaking eggs.

Our family struggles with short legs syndrome!

But Big Mama, the only one with long legs, came to the rescue!

A, B, and C.  Here is Austin, Brodie and Cason waiting to hunt eggs at Grandma's house.

More San Antonio trip.

Cason's favorite part of the whole trip...the train ride at the zoo!

My Granny and Aunt Lillie, they are two awesome ladies.

Cason took this picture all by himself.  Isn't he a great photographer?  This is Granny and Aunt Ann.

Cason had to have fun too!

San Antonio trip.

This was a massive statue with the family knees we always joke about.  Got to love those Gossit knees.

Cason's favorite part of the muesum, riding the elephant!

I just loved this old turtle's butt!!!!!

Cason woke up screaming this morning for his paci, and I was not about to get up and find it for him, which was probably under his arm.  So he screamed for 45 minutes before falling back to sleep, which was after I needed to be up.  When I got him out of bed we agreed that it was not mommy's job to find it and he agreed.  He went the whole day without it.  He took a nap and everything at his sitters.  I caught him quietly crying once in the car after I told him it was gone and it just broke my heart.  I hate doing this to him...but it has got to go.  On the way home I told him the Paci Fairy stopped by the house and collected ALL his paci's since he no longer needed them and she left him a surprise.  He was stoked.  He ran in and went straight for the Thomas train and track.  Hopefully, it will last...will see in the morning.

At my 16 week appointment the baby's heart beat is 160 and strong.  This is very important to us to hear it that way.  Next month I will get a routine ultrasound in the office then will start my appointments with the maternalist again and he will do the complete mearsurements and all every month.  So...here we go!

New things

I have been lazy...I get online, check my myspace, and go to bed.  That's how exciting things have been lately.

I finally seem to be beating the colds.  Flu, stomach flu, strep, and sinus infection...I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Cason is growing big.  We had his annual Pedi-Heart reunion and he had a great time this year.  We stayed less than an hour, smart thinking.  He can only handle so many people.  He hasn't caught any of my bugs, just a runny nose.

Lyndon is staying busy.  He is back on the kick of buying  a stock car to fix up and race.  I agree, if I get to pick the MUSTANG.  I want a 69 to 71, he prefers the late eighty models.

Nascar is back up and Dale is running good!  So far he won the Bud Shoot out and his string of the Gatorade Duel.  Can't wait for Daytona 500 on Sunday!!!!!!!  Of course, our other favorite Tony is running good too!

The little one on the way is good.  We got to see the heart beat for a minute and watch him/her swim around a bit.  It was a quick ultrasound, but it made a world of difference to my stress level.

Gimli is finally recovered, post fifth operation.  Taffy is a bee...she gets mad at us and eats our things.  Today was a palm leaf cowboy hat.  Stupid dog.  Arwin is busy, Gretchen is loving the weather and Domino likes my warm car in the garage.  Tucker is allowing Gimli to be his brother and sharing table, uh floor space with him.

The horses...well...are bored.  With me not riding Roxy has begun to pester the others and find ways to entertain herself.  She apparently took the fences out a few weeks back and since I was home SICK, I stitched her up to save a trip to the vet.  Once she was healed and the stitches came out Cali decided to get hurt.  We found it too late to stitch, so a water bath and medicine daily tweaks her off.

Baby is fat, Abby is ornery, and Midway is looking good for almost 34.  We had a big scare with him...some how he twisted something in his hip and now leans to one side.  But he is alert, active and full of spice, so he is still around to boss the girls.

Well, that has been our life.  When I find my camera, maybe I will feel like posting some pictures...or maybe not!
