<title><![CDATA[The Veres Family]]></title>

<description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Emery Veres &lt;/STRONG&gt;was born in Janok, Hungary, on May 2, 1882.&amp;nbsp; He came to the United States in about 1902 and married Maria Pal (Mary Paul).&amp;nbsp; In 1905 they were living in Toledo, OH.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;They had a very large family.&amp;nbsp; Daughter Elizabeth was born in New Derry, PA, in 1906.&amp;nbsp; Others born in the Heilwood/Johnstown area where Emery worked as a coal miner were:&amp;nbsp; Emery (1907), Steve (1909), Helen (1912), Julia (1914), John (1915), Joe (1917), and Frank (1919).&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;In 1920, the family moved to Lynch, KY, where Emery also worked in the coal mines.&amp;nbsp; Daughter Margaret was the first to be born there in 1921 followed by:&amp;nbsp; Emma (1922), Rosie (1924), and Andrew (1926).&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;Emery died in Lynch on March 5, 1938 following an appendectomy.&amp;nbsp; Mary died there on September 4 of the same year.&amp;nbsp; The cause of her death was 'tuberculosis of the second cervical vertebre' and 'bronchi pneumonia'.&amp;nbsp; They are both buried in the Lynch Coal Camp Westlawn Cemetery.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;Emery is on the wagon in the above photo.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color=#040080 size=4&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Janos Veres&lt;/STRONG&gt; and &lt;STRONG&gt;Maria Visnyinsky &lt;/STRONG&gt;had&amp;nbsp;some children that died at a very young age.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Maria &lt;/STRONG&gt;(the first one with this name) died in 1872, at only a few months old.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;A second daughter named &lt;STRONG&gt;Maria &lt;/STRONG&gt;was born and also died in Csecs, Hungary, in&amp;nbsp;1873.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Imre&lt;/STRONG&gt; died at at 2 1/2 years old on September 2, 1880.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Erzsebet&lt;/STRONG&gt;, who was born in Janok, Hungary, on December 30, 1884, died on May 30, 1888.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="VISIBILITY: hidden" woohooNameSaved="classicView"&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080&gt;&lt;FONT size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Joseph Veres &lt;/STRONG&gt;was born in Hungary in 1871 and married Catherine/Katalin Toth in about 1895.&amp;nbsp; He immigrated to the United States aboard the Georgia in 1896.&amp;nbsp; He was followed by his wife and one-year-old daughter Elizabeth about one year later.&amp;nbsp; They all may have gone briefly to Johnstown, PA, but were living in Toledo, OH, by 1898.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;Daughter Mary was born in Toledo in 1898, and son Andrew in 1900.&amp;nbsp; Joseph worked there as a molder.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;On July 4, 1906, Joseph died of heart failure.&amp;nbsp; He is buried in Calvary Cemetery.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080&gt;&lt;FONT size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Anna Veres &lt;/STRONG&gt;was born around 1878.&amp;nbsp; She left her home in Janok, Hungary, and traveled on the S.S. Werkendam -- arriving in June, 1898.&amp;nbsp; She resided in the home of her brother Joseph for about a year.&amp;nbsp; Her whereabouts are unknown after that.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080&gt;&lt;FONT size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Maria Veres &lt;/STRONG&gt;(the third daughter with this name) was born on August 27, 1876, in Janok, Hungary.&amp;nbsp; She immigrated to the U.S. some time in the late 1890s and lived in the home of her brother Joseph.&amp;nbsp; She married John Borosky around 1899.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;Their daughter Teresa was born in Detroit in April of 1900 and she died at about age 9.&amp;nbsp; They also had a daughter named Margit who was born in Toledo in September 1901, who died as an infant.&amp;nbsp; Other children that were also born in Toledo include:&amp;nbsp; John (1903), Alexander (1905), Edward/Imre (1907), and Jolan "Lola" (1910).&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;Some time after John Sr. died in March of 1917, Maria and the children moved to Johnstown, PA, where she married Albert Urban.&amp;nbsp; She died there on December 27, 1948, of Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder and is buried in St. Therese Cemetery.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;The photograph is of John and Maria's family.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#040080 size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Mihaly Veres &lt;/STRONG&gt;was born in Janok, Hungary, on July 4, 1874.&amp;nbsp; He and his wife, Barbara Grebely, had children Stephen, Joseph, Mary, and Frank Joseph -- who was born on July 26, 1900.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#040080 size=4&gt;In March of 1901, Mihaly made his first trip to the United States aboard the S.S. Barbarossa.&amp;nbsp; He went to the home of his brother Joseph in Toledo, Ohio, staying in the U.S. for a few years.&amp;nbsp; He again left Hungary in April of 1914 on the S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam.&amp;nbsp; This time Mihaly's destination was the home of his brother Frank, also in Toledo.&amp;nbsp; Again, he remained&amp;nbsp;there for a few years before returning to Janok, where he died on March 18, 1953.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#040080 size=4&gt;His son Frank Joseph Veres also immigrated to the United States.&amp;nbsp; On November 6, 1921, he arrived at the port of Detroit on the Canadian-Pacific Railway and then made his way to Toledo where he lived with his uncle Frank Veres.&amp;nbsp; He married Rose Strini, was very active in the Toledo community, raised a family, and died from a lung tumor and congestive heart failure on April 30, 1962.&amp;nbsp; He is buried in Calvary Cemetery.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;BR clear=all/&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color=#000080&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS"&gt;&lt;FONT size=4&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Ferenk (Frank Joseph) Veres&lt;/STRONG&gt; was born in Janok, Hungary, on October 25, 1879.&amp;nbsp; He immigrated to Toledo, OH, in 1902 as "Stefan Kondas" aboard the August Victoria, and lived in the home of his brother Joseph.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;In March of 1908 he married Barbara Toth.&amp;nbsp; In December of that year their son Frank Andrew was born.&amp;nbsp; Their other children were Joseph (born in 1910), Anna (1912), Andrew (1916), and Barbara (1917).&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;Frank's occupation was a moulder.&amp;nbsp; He retired in 1954.&amp;nbsp; On August 17, 1958, he died from a cerebral hemorrhage due to high blood pressure.&amp;nbsp; He is buried in Calvary Cemetery.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4&gt;The wedding photograph is of Frank and Barbara's wedding.&amp;nbsp; The second photo is of Mihaly.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
