Feeling Quiet
Hearing David Byrne, Uh-Oh
I did -not- forget... Put it off.. yep.. didn't forget.
Okay.. first off.. I've been distracted.. For those who do not know me personally.. Check out HirstArts.com and you will know why.. I've been playing with the Molds that Bruce Hirst makes and they are great!! I made several gifts for friends so far.. a few Dungeon sets that I took up to Morgantown to help a friend promote his gaming/hobby/comic shop.. and I am working on some stuff for White Hart that utilizes these molds.. The only bummer is that I haven't really made anything for myself yet.. (grin) But I am workng on my first building which could be used to run a D&D mini's game in.
Oh yeah..D&D mnis.. another Christmas gift.. They Rock!! the best of all possible mini games for me. I still love Mage Knight and will continue to play that.. but D&D minis is my new fave!!
As for Mage Knight. It seems as of last night that I will soon be helping the Hobby store in Ohio run some Mage Knight Games twice a Month. We've been speaking with Wiz-Kids and I am getting Vendor sponsered Warlord Status. They've had some real trouble with folks involved in their orgaized games apparently and I offered to help them run fair and open Tournies..and to assist in providing some prizes and such as well.. (I was thinking something along the lines of 'trophies' made with old figs and Hirst Blocks. I've seen simmilar things on the web and they would be simple to make and mean a lot to those that recieved them... but thats just one idea... *wink*)

Yeay Terrain!!
Well.. the first modular set of Game board is almost complete.. the project took ten tiles overall.. and due to the current table, the max size I can run is a 5'x2' battlezone..I have some ideas for making a foamboard support that fits atop the coffee table.. allowing for a classic 3'x3' battlezone with proper support. The mountain with cave looks better than I thought it might.. and has lots of in game potential for cover and elevation, ect. It still needs ladders. The Ruined Manor looks pretty cool and has lots of extra base space for scenery pieces to be added/changed around battle to battle.. The Necropolis with its two little skin domed zombie huts is so far my of my two faves though.. it and the Elizabethan Shop... (the shop has nice soft red carpet upstairs man.. heck..I'd live there. Left off the fireplace though.. oh well)

What Might Interest you?
Okay.. I dont even know if there are folks out there looking at/interested in my gaming stuff.. But there may be.. If you are one of these, give me a little reply below to tell me what you might be interested in most.. At present I have no digi camera as I mentioned so my future plans for some how to terrain articles are on hold.. However I will soon have links to many other great instructional articles and sites.
Would you the reader prefer how to articles like this? Would you prefer Campaign reports such as the Terra Atlantica entries? What about Fiction? Please bear in mind the aggrivating character limit imposed upon me, but outside of that.. I am open to suggestions..
If I dont get any, I'll write about what interests me at the moment.. such as I have been..and save the more scholarly stuff for the fencing page.

Havent Forgotten
Havent forgotten my plans for this page and a future Fencing Journal. The Fencing Journal is 'up' but I dont like how it looks ect, at present.. so tweaking. Fencing Fans and Fellows please be patient. Once the Fencing page is ready for public view I will have a link to it here, and at that time I'll move my fencing and simmilar links there.
Personal and Gaming links will remain here.
New in Gaming: Major new terrain.. Elizabethan Merchants Shop (Syke Sutlery), Necropolis, 2 open plazas with debris, grassy field, stream, ruined manor, and a hillside with cave. Each is mounted upon a 12inx12in base so they can be arranged in different patterns for a 3'x3' gameboard. (the Ruined Manor is actually mounted on a 12x24 inch base. Making 'nine' terrain tiles total.) I have also devised a new rp system for the miniatures system we are using.. Shelly and I are going to try it out soon. Hopefully I will have a digital camera soon so I can show folks all the cool stuff I've made.

Changes
Okay..First things First.. Today (monday) is the day my wife and I are going to celebrate our first year anniversary..Yeay! She put up with me that long...!!!.. yeay! She has recovered very well from her surgury and should be fencing again this week after the Doctor gives her a thumbs up. I will have time again to log into my journal and to devote to other trivial things. Soooo..
Well.. after much thought.. and great spans of inactivity here.. I have come to a decision.. I am going to move my Fencing and Personal oriented stuff to a different page/journal idea that a friend of mine twigged me onto. This Journal I will be using to record and log my Mage Knight and other gaming interest stuff.. Therefore this whole Journal page will be undergoing a facelift here in the near future..
Watch for it!!!

Song Gwyn wrote
Gwyn wrote this song in honor of Master Michael Alewright, Kiernan, and myself..I find it beautiful.
Oh he rises in the morning
and by nightfall hes gone
to some distant land a roaming
to carry legends on
So come gather all ye people
to come and hear the tale
for the bards the unsung hero
and memory often fails
hes the maker of legends
he is the author of fame
but when he leaves your fires tomorrow
will ye even know his name
he the herald of destruction
hes the bringer of light
far he wanders on his journey
just to bring ye all delight
So come gather all ye people
to come and hear the tale
for the bards the unsung hero
and memory often fails
he can make immortals
of the captain, the page, or ye
he is timeless in his glory
hes as boundless as the sea
But when ye write the stories
and when ye tale the tales
no one there records your glory
and memory often fails.
So come gather all ye people
to come and hear the tale
for the bards the unsung hero
and now ye know his story well

My Grandfather's Memories..
Recently my aunt found these words in a notebook of hers.. she wrote them down when talking with my grandfather Peregoy. He passed away several years ago, in his life he served as my ideal of a gentleman.. These are his memories.. his words, transcribed from my aunts notebook..
February 28, 1993
I had an Uncle Sam. He was my Dad's twin brother. He worked in Philadelphia and I remember seeing him at Uncle Elizah's one spring when my three brothers and I rode the spring wagon. Later he mover to Baltimore to work at ---------------- where I saw him several times. He married and had a daughter Uncle Elizah had twelve children-all of them are dead now. Uncle Joe was the oldest. He was born in 1849 or 1850. He was a stone mason. Next was Uncle John who was a butcher until he retired. Aunt Elizabeth married French Hale and lived in Baltimore. Next Aunt Margaret married Charles R----- and died about 1927. Next Uncle Elizah who stayed on the farm where they grew up. Then Dan and Sam. Then Harry who lived at Lay Field who married May-Harry died in 1934 - was a stonemason. Someone was a country school teacher. Uncle John lived in Virginia. [My Grandfather's] grandfather lived on a farm and was a shoemaker by trade. Born 1823 and died 1893.

Terra Atlantica: The Whitespray Saga
Over the summer, the fate of the Whitespray river valley hung in question. The evil undead Necropolis Sect pressed hard into the valley and attempted to control this influential boarder land to the Black Powder Rebellion. The Rebellion's hero, the Red Duchess.. in a grueling series of battles successfully defended the Whitespray Valeey from the invading armies led by the Order of Vladd. Events took an unusual turn however when a group of Orcs, lured by the promise of Profit, joined with Atlantian Peacekeeping forces in an attempt to pacify the activites within the valley. After a long drawn out confrentation against the combined forces of the Red Duchess and the Order of Vladd, whose battle the peacekeeping forces interrupted.. The Atlantians were forced to withdraw when their Orc comrades decided that they were not being paid enough and greatly considered abandoning their allies. Sensing this, and feeling they had inflicted sufficient damage upon the Rebels and the Necropolis, the Atlantians quit the Battle. All sides withdrew to former boarders to recover and re-equip with no signifigant changes in control of the Whitespray Valley.

Terra Atlantica Intro and More
Welcome to the entries titled Terra Atlantica.. What these are going to be are little narratives that will be giving the storyline to the Mage Knight game that I play with my wife and daughters. We also occasionally play the game with friends, and this past weekend I and my wife got to play in a big battle with our buddy Rob and his three kids!! It was a lot of fun. Hopefully soon someone in the group will have a digital camera so we can post pictures and such.
For those not in the know.. Mage Knight is a minatures game made by WizKids (recently purchased by Topps to my understanding) and is a heck of a lot of fun. They also make a super hero themed minatures game which my wife and daughters like a bunch.. Myself, Mage Knight is more to my taste..
My next posts up this weekend include my review of By the Sword, the new Terra Atlantica entries including the reports of this past weekend's battles.. and more. But for now.. gotta go do some real life work stuff..

Time Away
Well.. I have spent some time away from the journal while my wife and I deal with the day to day stuff of taking care of her post surgery. This may sound like a hassle or something of that nature.. but in fact its been great. Her recovery has gone much smoother than we expected and she is doing very well. Went to Morgantown this weekend for Arts of War and got to fence with a lot of folks, what a Blast. Don Quinn ran a melee class that was titled Kill Kill Kill and was a hoot! It was nice to sit back and play a bit, and not be the Tutor in charge guy this time. Fenced fellows from NeverNeverland, Captn' Terran (aka Captain Fabulous!!!) and Captn' Dano.. both were doing great and seem to be happily active in their area. I cant express how happy that makes me.. to see these guys with the same enthusiasm they possessed back in the late eighties..it rocks!!
