Speed Kills..
Speed.. When I say this word I am not talking about some cheesy action thriller with Dennis Hopper as the villian, nor am I refering to a drug that makes one feel 'peppy' right before it induces that heart attack. Nope. Not talking about either of those. Actually, this morning my thoughts turn towards the concept of speed as Pace. As a Re-enactor, I am very into learning more and more about certain time periods that fascinate me. One of these is Shakespearian/Elizabethan England. In this modern day I can type these words and within a few seconds of my hitting the Save button, these words are available literally all over the world. Quite a contrast to those days so long ago when Elizabeth died in 1603. A Dedicated servant named Sir Robert Carey had arranged for horses to be posted all along the route from Richmond to James' palace Holyrood in Edinburgh. It was a journey of 400 miles. Corey took a rough bone jarring tumble from the saddle on the difficult ride. Yet despite this, and the poor conditions of the roadways, Carey managed to make the trip betwen Thurs morn and Sat night. Think of it, it took at least 3 days to inform someone they where the next Monarch of England.
(due to the silly 2500 character limit.. Part Two follows.. or proceded, its kinda funny with how these things are laid out.)
