Hearing the fishtank bubble.. all others sleep peacefully
Night Owl Hoots..
To Thine Own Self Be True.. This is a theme found in many beliefs, even if it is not phrased in this particular word choice. I have often witnessed, and considered a vast variety of interpretations to this 'Golden Rule.' Laertes' father Polonius admonishes his son with this advice as he departs from homeland in Hamlet. This has often been used in almost a catchphrase fashion by many modern spiritualists/New-agers/occultists. So, what the heck does it mean..
Well.. I likely haven't any greater brilliant insight than anyone who reads this with honesty and the willingness to devote a few minutes pondering.. Go ahead.. I'll wait..
See.. You hit the nail on the head. What the point, IMHO, really is.. is that if we are honest with ourselves.. really brutally honest with ourselves, we will always continue to learn and grow. More money has gone into "Follow your heart" based entertainments than any other I can think of, because that is indeed the idyllic dream.. To be able to follow ones heart without reservation or restraint. However, Truth, has its own edges.. and its own thorns. We are pricked by responsibility or cut by the indecisions of ourselves and others. The real choice we make however is to be responsible enough to grasp that blade, endure the thorns, and fight our individual battles which endure every day.. The honesty to recognize the truth of always striving to be a better person
To thine own self be true..
