Certainly true about caregivers - and they most times must come from inside the family, as finances won't allow for convalescent homes.  My brother Chris works in one over 30 yrs now and has endured the personal attacks of those dear, sad folk who are in states of dementia and can't understand what's happening.  Doing this kind of work takes a kind of dual character, I'd say:  Compassionate, yet needed objectivity otherwise things are taken personally, and that's trouble.  These are the children of need, and a caregiver must be the adult, no matter the difference in age.  One who inspires me is Patrick (daddlyleer) at "CaregivinglyYours", always imparting what he's learned in caring for his wife Patti.  How like nature to return some of us to an infantile state as we age, completing a mysterious cycle of birth to death.  Love to D xoxo CATHY
