Hearing How Much is that Doggie in the Window?
Weekend Assignment-Teddy Bear's Photo Opportunity
On a lazy Saturday in December, the local pet store was offering photo sessions with Santa to benefit Canine Companions. Ted was all spiffed up for the occasion and he even smelled decent. His red and green bandanna looked fashionable against gold, black and clean white fur. While we stood there in line I was certain Ted was the most handsome and best behaved dog in the crowd. I was the envy of the other doggie moms! The longer the wait the more dropouts the line experienced; our turn was coming right up.
Ted must've been anxious to get this deal finished by now. We prouldly walked up and took our seat on the couch with Santa. I noticed the guy looked a little scrawny for Santa so I could not resist teasing him about perhaps eating some more cookies. He smiled and the photos were taken.
We still had one more line to wait in for the photo CD. At last we were leaving; I was telling Ted, "Good Boy-Good Boy!" when suddenly he jerked the leash hard as he bolted for the outside door. I found myself flat on the floor! I tried not to swear or call attention to our scene in any remote way. I scurried to my feet, fluffed out my hair and made a beeline for the door.
I yelled at poor Ted all the way home. I parked and opened Ted's door reminding him once again, "Bad Boy-Bad Boy!" Well, he just was not done being bad; he ran into an apartment that had the door wide open and hid. A bewidered neighbor exclaimed, "What the hell lady! I don't even like dogs!" I dragged Ted out of there praying that he had not pooped inside the guy's place. Afterall, it's not like Ted has never pooped where/when he's not supposed to before!
My fiancee is still laughing about how I scared the dog so bad that he tried to move in with some guy that didn't even like dogs..The photo was not even that good; Ted had a "crazed" look in his eyes. I figure he was busy plotting my demise even then for making him wait to get that picture taken.
