Working on Deployment #2

Public Journal
I've been married to my Marine for over a year now. We've got two beautiful children (mine from previous marriages), but his in his heart. I'm a SAHM and an Independent Kitchen Consultant with The Pampered Chef. I enjoy being able to stay at home and take care of my family. We're at Camp Lejeune and although Jacksonville lacks many things, it's not lacking in strong Marine wives. Archives | Subscribe to Alerts Alerts Subscribe to Alerts | Feeds

Feeling Happy

Christmas

Well, the Christmas season is in full swing. Christmas presents are being bought or have been bought and are waiting on wrapping. Christmas trees and lights are up and Christmas cards are starting to arrive already.
My husband will be home this year. Last year, he was in Iraq. I'm glad to have my Marine home this year, but I still think about the Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen serving this country overseas. I pray for them and for their families; that they will be strong and know that love spans the miles and that even though their loved ones can't be with them in person they are there in their hearts. Don't forget them. Do something special for America's military. There are many sites that offer the opportunity to send them cards of appreciation. I urge you to do this. You may not agree with the war and you may not support the President, but you should support our military. Anybody who enlisted after 9/11 knew they would end up in Iraq or in some other capacity fighting the war on terror. Even those who joined prior to 9/11 knew there is always a possibility that they would be called away from their families to serve their country. The war on terror is no different from WWI or WWII, the soldiers still fight for our freedom and the freedom of those who cannot fight for themselves. My family sends its love to the military (being a military family ourselves) and well wishes for a pleasant Christmas at home and abroad.

Feeling Loopy
Hearing just the informercials on the TV

tired, bored, nothing else to do at 2am

So, it's like 2:18 in the morning here on the right coast and I'm exhausted as heck. Medicated, but not tired, okay tired, but no interest in sleeping alone. It's fine every once in a while and I get used to a queen size bed when he's gone, like he is now. I friggin hate this MEU work-up. He's been gone from about 14-21 days every month for the past 5 months. Not sure if there are any more short term dep. from now until Christmas, you know the Corps, all schedules are subject to and probably will change. We're going to have 2 weeks off at Christmas and then he's gone around the first or so of the New Year. God knows where he's going, my luck- Iran... Hopefully with his job on ship he will not have to set foot on sand. Drawback, limited access to my man's voice. I'll be calling his voicemail on the cell phone just to hear his dang voice, like I think I've done now for 2 or 3 times this week. He'll be home on Friday, thank goodness. The kids miss him and I miss him. Uh, so writing actually makes me tired and I'm fairly ready to hit the sack. Bluck.

Updates

Okay, lots to update....

I am now happily employed as an Independent Kitchen Consultant with The Pampered Chef. Yeah me! I can be a SAHM and make some money! Woohoo! So, since I love to cook, this is the PERFECT fit for me!

Gracie is now 7 and DJ just turned 4 on the 5th of August. Both of them have been gone for most of the summer visiting with family and whatnot.

I also found out that I have bipolar disorder w/anxiety. I'm so glad I found this out! I finally have a name for why I've felt the way I've felt since I was 16 years old! I was a wreck from about June to probably about 2 weeks ago, but with the help of medicine; my family (esp. Jamie), my military wives groups on myspace, and the therapist I am doing so much better. I also can't believe the number of people who suffer from bipolar and are misdiagnosed and misunderstood. People really need to do some studying up on it.

We're working up for a deployment within the next 5-7 mos. Jamie will be part of the "combat cargo" team so he won't be leaving the ship. I think that because of this and his current position as a fire team leader that he'll be getting promoted soon. He's been busting his butt doing MCI's and they've been sending him to course after course. We're still not 100% sure of this deployment yet though because of my illness. We're working on enrolling in the EFMP program and possibly getting him transferred down to PI as a range instructor or something. He's going to be going through a series of deployments up until the float where he'll be gone for a week or two, so we'll see how that goes. I have a hard time being with the kids all day by myself because I have a short fuse and that usually leads up to an anxiety attack (which, BTW, are not pretty) and that's when I need him around. But, hopefully both of the kids will be in school, so we'll see how it all goes.

I've managed to make some really great friends up here, so I'm not as lonely as I used to be. I really like hanging out with other military wives b/c they know how the deal is. It's not like I don't love my friends at home, but for the most part they just don't get it. Life is just different when you're a military family. My family understands, thank goodness because I come from a military family, and aside from Jamie, my sister-in-law Stephanie is my best friend. She completely understands me; not only is she a Navy brat, but her sister is in Iraq right now and her brother just got back.

Okay, enough rambling for now. I've got a ton of stuff to do today!!

whats in your purse?

whats in your purse? :

I have things in my purse "containerized" do "declutter" (haha) but I still have the messiest purse!

1. My wallet: military ID, SC drivers license (I will always be a Carolina girl, no matter where the Marine Corps sends me!), our handy-dandy Tricare insurance cards, Sams Card, credit cards, important phone numbers that haven't gotten put into the cell phone yet, Spencers punch card, gift cards, important receipts for things I'm probably going to have to return...lol

2. My mini make-up bag- tweezers, lip gloss, small bottle of hand sanitizer, small bottle of hand lotion, dental floss

3. I've got a separate bag for feminine products, aka tampons, pads, and pantyliners. In case I need 'em or if someone else does, I don't mind sharing! lol

4. about a zillion pieces of paper, one of which being a receipt for Grace's dance paraphenalia, a brochure from her dance school, my shopping list from the last trip to the grocery store, a few other misc receipts

5. a sharpie, a pen, and a pencil

6. cell phone, always!!

7. sunglasses, gotta protect the eyes from UVA/UVB rays! haha

Wow, yesterday was my 1 year anniversary. I'd like to say that it was a wonderful day, but it wasn't. Much thanks to the Marines of 2/2 for that. In particular my husband's jerk of a 1st sgt. Hubby didn't get home until after 7:30 and had to be in before 5am so we didn't get to go and have our nice, romantic dinner. Ain
Ain't that just like the marine corps

Well, today was my first full day at work alone. I'm not 100% about this one. The position is Sales Secretary/Receptionist at a real estate office. It's not a paralegal position and that sucks butt. I really do hope to hear from the SJA office because that's what I really want to do.

Well, my 1st 9 months were up on the 13th. I guess I'm going to have to rename this badboy. I've finished with school and am in J'ville now. I just got rid of Grace, she's in her new school until 2:20 when the bus drops her off. It's just me and DJ right now. Jamie's in school today, but should be home sometime around 11am. I've really got to get offline here shortly because I have a ton of stuff to do around this house right now.
Yesterday was my birthday, another year older, oh joy. I was surprised that so many of my friends remembered my b-day. I guess they really do love me! Jamie took me to see Skynnard on Saturday at the Charleston Bike Rally and that was pretty cool. We're probably going to dress up and go out to eat in Swansboro at my fav restaurant on Friday if we can get someone to watch the kids for us.
Anyways, I'm going to go and take care of what I have to get done today because when Jamie gets home we have a lot to do out of the house.

Oh my gosh!! I've been so busy with my externship and moving!! Thank goodness I don't have any more classes and I'm done with that. I just have to finish a few more hours!! Yeah! I've got an A.A.S. Yippee! I'm a college graduate! Now I've got to get started on that bachelor's degree. I guess that can wait a few months, I've got to find a job to pay off some of these students loans and bills. Oh yeah, and finish moving--YUCK!

Feeling Quiet
Hearing Nuttin', CNN is on in the background

Just chillin'

Well, the hubby has been home for almost a month now. I'm so glad he's back in country. We're working on his month of leave. He'll be in SC until March 20th and then he's got to go back to Camp Lejeune. I've only got about 3 weeks of school left so we won't have to be doing the back and forth between Charleston and Jacksonville much longer. The official move date is April 7th because I finish school on the 5th. I feel bad having to pull my daughter out of school, but I guess we're all going to have to get used to it because he's talking about reenlisting in 2008. I honestly can't see him being anything but a career man. Jamie, out on the civilian world?! Lord help them, it's just safer to keep him in the Corps!

He's down in Daytona for Bike Week with his father this weekend. He'll be back on Sunday, yeah! I'm just bored because I've gotten so used to him being attached to me since he's been home. The only place that I don't go with him lately is school so it was a little weird driving down to N. Charleston without him today. Well, it's dinner time and I'm starved. Later!

Well, Jamie's been home from Iraq for 8 days now. I've been up in J'ville for about 6 1/2 of those days. I had to come home for school Thursday and Friday, but the kids and I drove up from MC Friday afternoon to spend the long weekend with Jamie. We have to go back today in a little while. Mom, Grace, Aunt Les, Steph and Sierra and I have tickets to the Keith Urban concert tonight and Grace has to go back to school tomorrow. Jamie is on his way back to base right now, he has formation and then he should be off for the rest of the day. He has to report back in tomorrow, but should be off by 9am then he'll be on his way home for 30 days of combat leave. It's been kind of weird getting used to being together again. It's nice laying next to him in bed again, but all of the other things may take a little while to settle down.
